Paid £400 for 3 months of advertisement…

Paid £400 for 3 months of advertisement and social media. Received nothing, so basically the owner Colin Woolley and his company are fraudulently creating invoices and taking payment and not providing a service. We've had a successful CCJ raised against them which will no doubt affect their credit rating, but I guess after reading that there's quite a few other people in the same boat, the guy doesn't care as he'll be cash rich.

I'm still going to pursue and currently ensuring anyone looking at his social media knows not to advertise or pay any more money with him. We are a small new business and can't afford this type of outlay for no return. I will be reporting him to the police and the Fraud Office later today. His details are available on Companies House if anyone else wishes to review these, but he's had a strike off order made against him.

Avoid like the plague.

Do not advertise with this company!

We are a small and independent holiday company and were contacted in February 2018 by the magazine to advertise ourselves in their March issue. The offering sounded like excellent value for money and although the price of £500 is more than we normally spend on advertising, after much deliberation, we decided to go ahead.

We were asked to transfer the money in advance which we did and then to send over some content and pictures. After doing so, the communication dried up and they stopped responding to emails and phone calls.

We were not published in their magazine and despite many, many phone calls and emails, we have not received our money back. We have been forced to report them to the police, our bank and file a small claim.

The only emails we have recieved have been unprofessional, rude and at times sarcastic and antagonistic.

Do not make the same mistake as us (and I’m sure many other small companies) and avoid working with or even reading this magazine!

You will not see your money again

The people behind this magazine specifically the director are reaching out to small businesses to provide advertising for £495, however as many other people have found out this 'advertising' did not happen. They are in constant contact with you until you pay for the advertising and then they disappear off the face of the earth and when after 3 months we finally got a response it was incredible rude, inarticulate and was a refusal to pay money back despite no advertising of any kind being published. We are reporting this to the police and are working with a solicitor to resolve the matter, we are likely to spend more in legal fees than the £495 spent but this is a matter of principal that we cannot drop. These people are very clever who have so far got away with it due to working for a magazine with what you would have expected to have a reputation to uphold but they can't continue to get away with actively taking money from people without providing any type of service . I urge anyone to steer clear of this company and their inexusable ways of obtaining money. It seems as though honest hard work is something they choose to exploit rather than try for themselves

The response from cycling world is completely insincere as they ignore all attempts from me to contact them regarding our advertising. They have no interest in resolving the matter as they already have our money.

I wish I had seen this website before…

I wish I had seen this website before paying Cycling World £500 for some advertising that they never ran. This was in 2015 when our business was just a couple of months old, it is now 2018! In the meantime, I have seen the vile editor at several industry events (it's a small world after all!) and every single time he assures me payment will be made by the next day. He ignores all phone calls and emails. The lady who looks after social media messages sometimes answers messages and says she will pass them on. We hear nothing. I am now instructing debt collection as I cannot allow this to drop, £500 is a lot of money to a small business like us. These guys are absolutely disgusting.

EDIT!!! I am very surprised that Cycling World have replied to this review saying the dispute is being resolved?? After two years - I doubt it and certainly haven't heard ANYTHING from them outside of the comment on this review. To clarify - this issue has absolutely NOT been resolved. Cycling World have ignored every single call and email from us to get our money back - do not trust a single word these people say. They still have our money! And to have the audacity to refer to themselves as our "friends" - well that's just rude to be honest. I can imagine that they are laughing amongst themselves at their successful theft.

Not resubscribing

have been signed up for about 8 month now and only got 3 issues which come randomly. not that they are much use though because its mostly pictures and a lot seems like stuff ive read on google or in other places.

certainly wont be resubscribing and to only get 3 out of 8 months seems a bit weird.

this could have been so good but unfortunately it isnt. not recommended.

Good magazine

Good magazine. I like the fact that, unlike most magazines, they didn't start off my subscription by sending me outdated issues I already had.

Avoid signing up at all costs.

Signed up to cycling world for a 12 month subscription.

Got a couple of issues in the first months and then it just stopped. Have tried to contact cycling world many times but they either ignore my emails, don't answer the phone or give me the run around.

Tried to contact them about it on both Facebook and they blocked me.

Something seriously wrong with this outfit. I'm not the first so it is smelling a bit like a scam.

Content appears to be rehashed …

Content appears to be rehashed information from other publications. There is very little new in this magazine.

I also seem to be getting it very infrequently. Supposed to received this on a monthly basis but out of the last 12 months I've only received 3-4 issues.

Certainly won't be renewing when the time comes around.

Emails went ignored and tried to phone the owner but was told he was always "out of the office". Promised to be called back on more than 6 occasions but never heard anything.
