Been with DaCast for over 15 years

Been with DaCast for over 15 years, since the days of VZaar. Never had a reason to leave. The system was always up and worked all the time, but what impressed me the most was how they stayed backwards compatible even as their technology advanced and ours didn't. They did not force us to update our API, etc. It just worked.

Refund

Just a short while later, **DaCast** promptly charged us for another full additional year once again. We made every effort to configure the platform using all of our knowledge and experience, but it still failed to deliver what we required. As a result, we set up our own server for encoding and switched to a different provider for passthrough.

Not long after making the switch, DaCast charged us for yet another full annual term. I contacted them to explain that we had never been clearly informed about any automatic renewal—especially since we were no longer using the service—but DaCast refused to issue a refund, stating that all subscriptions renew by default.

Overall, our experience with DaCast has been extremely disappointing, both technically and from a customer service perspective. We strongly caution others to carefully review subscription terms and closely monitor billing.

Following a detailed review of the account history, we confirmed that no explicit cancellation request was submitted prior to the 2025 renewal. While there were exchanges with our team in January 2025, they did not include a clear request to cancel the subscription, and the required cancellation process outlined in our Terms of Service was not completed.

For the 2026 term, the cancellation request was received after the annual renewal had already been processed, despite several follow-up emails sent regarding the account status. As with most subscription services, plans renew automatically unless cancellation is completed before the renewal date.

Although the renewals were applied in accordance with the subscription agreement, we understood that there had been a misunderstanding regarding the cancellation procedure. In the interest of resolving the matter amicably, we conducted an additional internal review and approved a 6-month prorated refund as a goodwill gesture.

At Dacast, we are committed to transparent communication and fair resolution of customer concerns, and we appreciate the opportunity to work directly toward a solution.

Very Poor Experience – High Latency, Bad Encoding, and Surprise Billing

We tried using DaCast for about a year in Paraguay, but the latency was consistently very high, and the encoding performance was unreliable. Despite several attempts to make it work, the quality just wasn’t up to standard. Eventually, we had to set up our own servers for stream encoding and switched to another provider for passthrough.

Shortly after switching, we were unexpectedly charged for another full year. I contacted support immediately, arguing that we were not made aware of any automatic renewal for an annual subscription — especially since we were not actively using the service. However, DaCast refused to refund the charge, stating that all their subscriptions are auto-renewed by default.

Overall, it has been a very disappointing experience both technically and in terms of customer service. I would strongly caution others to be careful with their subscription terms and monitor billing closely. We won’t be using DaCast again.

After reviewing your account, we would like to clarify a few points regarding the billing concern. Our records show that your subscription renewed on July 8, and your request to cancel and inquire about the charge was received on July 9, after the renewal had already been processed.

All Dacast plans are subscription-based and automatically renew at the end of the billing cycle (whether monthly or yearly) unless they are cancelled beforehand. When subscribing, customers are asked to review and accept our Terms of Service, which explain this renewal process and our refund policy as stated in these terms:
“No refunds or credit will be issued if you or we terminate your subscription in accordance with these terms, unless (a) a general network outage or problem prevents you from using your account for a period of at least seventy-two (72) hours, or (b) otherwise agreed to by Dacast in advance.”
Because the request was made after the renewal and outside the conditions outlined above, the cancellation and billing were processed in accordance with these terms.

That said, we fully understand that unexpected charges can be frustrating, and we regret that the platform’s performance — particularly latency and encoding — did not meet your needs during your time with us.
Our team continuously works to improve streaming performance globally, and feedback like yours is important to us.

I used Decast and never had any…

I used Decast and never had any problems at all. Once I learned how to really use it. It was fun. I want to host my TV show. Because I would be in control. I can do and say whatever without any problems. Not like YouTube, it's always something. You have to work hard to get views. I'd rather do this and do a funnel and get my views than have to go through hell dealing with YouTube and their foolishness.

Believe the other reveiws about renewal

This company is NOT a client of our company. They used to supply a service to our company. They were a pretty good service while we willingly paid for the service. Once we decided we no longer needed their service they REFUSED to cancel the service. Even after MANY emails saying we wanted the service canceled they refused or made it impossible to cancel.

Logging into the account to turn off auto-renewal IS NOT available. Only after their feelings were hurt by our harsh language about how corrupt they are, they decided to add a link to the account to cancel auto-renewal. BUT, they shut down our log in access and required us to agree to continue service in order to log back in. They continued to refuse to stop auto-renewal and threatened to bad mouth our company because their feeling were hurt. Ultimately, we had to file a complaint with our bank and our bank agreed with us and the bank refunded our money.

Buyer beware, this company may offer a decent service, but when you no longer need the service they make it impossible to cancel and WILL NOT refund your money, even when you have not used the service or ask for a refund, ON the day they charged you.

Your account was subscribed to the Annual Starter plan, which renewed on February 23, 2025, in accordance with the subscription terms accepted at signup. All plans offered by Dacast are subscription-based and automatically renew at the end of the billing period unless cancelled beforehand. These conditions are clearly outlined in our Terms of Service, which customers must agree to when creating an account:

We would also like to address the claim that cancellation was “impossible.” Our platform includes a standard cancellation form within the account, which allows the account owner to request termination and disable future renewals. During our correspondence, our team provided instructions to complete this process so that the subscription could be properly cancelled.

Additionally, a payment dispute was opened with your bank shortly after the charge. When a dispute is filed, payment processors require merchants to wait for the bank’s investigation and decision before issuing any refund or adjustment. This means we are not able to process refunds independently while the dispute is active.

We regret that this situation became frustrating and that the conversation escalated. Our team’s goal is always to assist customers respectfully and resolve concerns in accordance with our policies.

Be aware if you consider purchasing the annual plan. Technically, you have to mark your renewal date next year on your calendar yourself because your plan will automatically get renewed and charged unnoticed. (No reminder or consent) When you receive a bill? it's too late: there is no way for you to get a refund because it's their "new policy" even if you contact them the day of the billing.

They should either send their customers a consent/notification before the auto renew at least once, or let the user cancel and get a refund, especially when they didn't use the plan yet.

I feel like i've been scammed. Wow

A satified user.

I have used Dacast for almost five years and have seen a huge improvement over that time. It is now a very stable and easy to use platform. I went through a stage where I had multiple issues but tech support always sorted them, sometimes it took a day or so but they were always fixed. I have not had any issues for almost two years, hence why I say it is a stable platform. One improvement for me though would be that I would like to see the raw video recording accessible via the the original share link as YouTube and Vimeo, do instead of me having to send another link to my viewers. As a streaming service though, I highly recommend Dacast, easy to use, low latency and high device compatibility.
