Actually I am quite disappointed at this moment. I wore this dress < 5 times and just - very gently - cold handwashed it for the first time. Upon hanging it, I noticed the seam at the neckline alr... See more

We practise slow, handmade fashion. This is the essence of everything at Daughters of India. We release one product at a time when it is complete. This ensures the artisans are free to manage their own hours without production deadlines, providing flexibility to enjoy life at a slower pace. We support the art of hand block printing and sustainably handmade garments that utilise tradition and ritual through ancient practice. Our aim is to bridge the gap between artisan and consumer, our connection with one another, and the Earth.

I bought a dress from DOI and love it. I wear it more often than anything else in my wardrobe. Quick shipping and good communication throughout the process.

I’ve been hesitant to buy as I’ve seen reviews of DOI dresses being sheer and thin. But I finally bit the bullet and bought 2 dresses! Fell so in love with the material and quality that I carted out 4 more pieces. It is sheer (can be easily fixed with your own slip underneath) but I really really love the flow and softness of the material! And customer service is amazing too! Prompt in responding and so helpful. Thank you DOI!

I love the mission of the company and had the Kyra dress on my wishlist for months. When I finally pulled the trigger and purchase the dress, I was pleased that the quality was there. The print is gorgeous and the material is comfortable and breathable making it the perfect summer dress.

I was able to shop in person at their store in Byron Bay, NSW. The store was gorgeous, and the woman working there was absolutely lovely, patient, and helpful. This company is doing it right from the ground up.

Love my kyra midi dress! I sized up but will buy my regular size next time. It’s very flattering and flowy.

I cannot believe some of the people on here, words like horrific, cheap and paper thin 🤦♀️ of course the fabric is somewhat sheer, it’s soft cotton voile, and beautiful, (wear a thin cotton slip like I do, from ebe and eve) other companies sell “cheaper” but the dresses are nothing like DOI beautiful designs, the work that goes into each dress is pure love, the support given monthly! to the women/workers and baby bundle is nothing but dedication and love. I worked with community aid abroad in my younger years, I adore block printing and the slow work that goes into it, from the making of the wood block to the dye then the dress itself , the use and making of the dyes used ( I work with natural fibres and dye so it all resonates with me) I buy XL for comfort ( I’m 63) the dresses are still quite flowy on me, I just like the looseness, I’m still wearing them in winter with a layer or cardigan and boots, most days it’s just the dress, I’ve made one into a nightie, I love them that much, I wash by hand in cold water and with ‘kin kin eco wash’ and hang in the shade, I have 10 DOI dresses and now they are making them with pockets ! so I’m sure I’ll buy another, stop whining all you people maybe shop at Kmart!

The dress that I ordered was beyond huge. Also, the dress is very see-through. I asked to return it for a refund and they state that their policy is to give a credit only or exchange the item for another size. I'm now out $250. Do Not Order!

PS: Check the sizeguide for each dress individually, they can vary a lot - I allready took xs - m :-)

Things to know when you purchase from Daughters of India.
- read their return policy - they are a smaller business, these details mean a lot to them so they can stay in business and continue to make beautiful clothing for us to enjoy.
- their sizes run small - size up. I am 5'8" with a 32" bust and found the XS too tight to move the shoulders unrestrictedly. I returned for a store credit credit (minus return postage) which I rolled into a S. This was a quick process and I had the S in my hands much sooner then I expected.
- These dresses are made of incredibly soft airy cotton material. As you can see in some of the product images, when backlit from behind, your silhouette will be seen through the fabric. The lighter the print, the sheerer the fabric will seem.
- Lovely summer dresses. I'm so happy every time I wear my dresses. I feel like a floaty summer fairy in these and I can't wait to see what DoI continues to produce.

Flattering, comfortable and flowy dresses. I own 3 already and love wearing mine with a belt to synch it in at the waist.

My favourite dress . I recently lost 20 kg and have recorded the same dresses in smaller sizes. I love them so much
