DJs, Sealy and terrible service all round
I purchased a Sealy bed for over $10,000. It was delivered with wrong feet and no one has taken responsibility. I am supposed to notify Sealy, not David Jones, and get the feet and install them myself. The delivery was a shambles as they just sent a text to say they were delivering something, not that they were from DJs or that it was the bed! I went in store twice, once I spoke to a DJs Rep who took the information. I had to go again to talk to a very rude Sealy Representative, she said "you need to report the missing legs to customer care, I just work in the retail part". I mentioned the delivery guys said they would notify DJs and Sealy, she responded "I don't deal with truck drivers". Relevance? David Jones reps were polite but didn't solve anything. A week on, still no feet and no bed! And I am dealing with Sealy direct. When they took my money they were all very polite and helpful.

Waited for about 10 minutes at front of the sunglass section to try sunglasses on, no one attended. Other staff members walked by saw us standing there and just ignored us and kept walking by so we left in the end. Disappointed.Booragoon Store
Sending Damaged Item
I use to like buying from David Jones but on recent online purchases they seem to think it’s ok to send damaged items. I’ve had enough, so I’m writing this about my latest purchase from David Jones.
The person packing the Guess Jacket would have seen multiple missing buttons, why send it? Now I have to take back, get a refund or go buy new buttons and sew them on. The jacket is expensive. How did you think that was ok to send to a customer? Oh & thanks for sticky taping the damaged button on tag, nice touch!! Staff need to take more pride and responsibility in their handling of goods.

I paid $300 for a CREED perfume, and what I received was an unsealed box that looked like it had already been opened or even returned by someone else. It honestly felt like a used or tampered product.
If this is how David Jones sends out premium perfumes, it’s a big no from me. This is completely unacceptable for such an expensive item. I won’t be buying from them online again — they clearly don’t treat their customers with the care and respect expected for luxury products.

I had a great experience with Vanessa today in the Anthia Crawford section David Jones Saturday 6th
She’s super friendly super energised and made my day. She’s a very good sales assistant. You should hold onto her.

Repeated Mistakes and Poor Customer Service
My recent experiences with David Jones have been beyond frustrating. First, I ordered a striped shirt on sale and instead received a polka dot dress not in my size and with the wrong packing slip. When I contacted customer service about this, they refused to send the correct item until I returned their mistake. I returned the dress promptly, only to then be told (in a generic, unapologetic email) that my shirt was now out of stock. Given that it was their error and the item was clearly limited in stock, I would have expected them to reserve it for me or send my correct item as soon I told them it was wrong.
Only after I complained, they offered me a $25 discount code on my next order. So I decided to give them another try and ordered two pairs of shoes. My shipping confirmation that was sent to me a few days later only listed one pair, and when I asked them why, I was then informed the second pair was out of stock despite my payment going through days earlier.
When the one pair they did send finally arrived, they were clearly in poor condition, looking worn and damaged straight out of the box (see photos).
This level of repeated mistakes, lack of accountability, and poor communication shows a complete lack of care for customers. Looking at other reviews online, I can see I’m far from the only one having these issues. David Jones needs to urgently improve their online store operations and customer service, or they’ll keep losing customers.
I will never again purchase anything from this store
I am never again in my life purchase anything in this store. I wanted to purchase (online) some articles listed on a bridal registry. Many articles were only available in store (so much for online purchases). Then, the articles were sent to me instead of becoming available for the new couple (with the possibility of exchanging them for other stuff). When I received the Australia Post notification that the articles were coming to my place, I wanted to contact Online Services to solve this problem. The automatic system taking phone calls is useless. Eventually I got to a store (any store!....I did not purchase the stuff at the store, but online service was not an option). Twice I spoke with real persons, in two different stores. None of them could connect me to Online Purchases. The link in the invoice sends me to the contact page in the website, with no option to contact Online Services. Eventually, I had to receive the gifts my self and take them to the groomś parentś address. And, btw, items are incredibly overpriced

I recently placed an online order for a BP monitor. Today, I received a confirmation email from David Jones pharmacy that included a parcel number for tracking. Unfortunately, I was unable to track the order, so I contacted customer support for help. The representative was unhelpful, cutting me off before I could finish my explanation and ultimately hanging up when I asked for clarification on the tracking number

customer service
My shopping experience at David Jones has been fairly pleasant most of the time, and the sales are usually friendly and welcoming, however the sales in Elizabeth Street for Chanel has rly gave me a bad experience. I signaled multiple times and waited for someone to come up to me for over 20 mins just standing there, however I was constantly ignored. It would be wonderful if the customer service requirements and standards were equally distributed across all stores.
Above and beyond experience from Harshit Rathore
I had an outstanding experience at David Jones over the weekend, all thanks to Harshit Rathore in the shirts service section. Harshit was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and patient while assisting me with finding the right fit and style. His professionalism and friendly attitude made the whole process easy and enjoyable. It’s rare to come across such genuine customer service these days—Harshit truly went above and beyond. Highly recommend speaking with him if you’re looking for great service and expert advice. Thank you again, Harshit!
Unreliable gift baskets
Terrible experience with delivery of a gourmet basket as a birthday present in Perth recently. I ordered on the website for a delivery last Friday. But it took until Tuesday this week for the basket to be delivered. Apparently they are flown in from the Eastern States and use the postal service to courier. Why even ask people to indicate a delivery date if it is all so meaningless? Certainly ruined my intention of a birthday surprise. And no proactive contact from the basket service to warn me this was so delayed or offer of any discount. When I did contact them all I got was an accusation that I hadn't read the fine print closely enough. I expected a reliable quality service from DJ's. This was just the opposite.
What happened to David Jones.
Seems David Jones have turned into scammers.
Like many other reviews i've read. I sent a pair of pants back for a return because they were too long. I sent them back the same day i received them. They have received on their end 2 weeks later and are telling me they won't refund because they are 'worn'. The only way they could be worn, is if they were sent to me that way.
Disgusting customer service.
Do not shop here.
I have always been an avid David Jones…THERE’S NO OTHER PLACE LIKE DAVID JONES! 🤬
I have always been an avid David Jones customer. The best of the best in my book. Unless you happen to go to David Jones at Pacific Fair Broadbeach! The worst customer service ever. Best and Less is better. I have had many failed visits to this store. Even when wanting to spend a lot of money on perfume for my daughter and wanted a couple of Tom Ford. No service. Assistants just looking and ignoring. Testers empty. No service. But yesterday I was with my daughter and I wanted a coffee. She didn’t so I just ordered a large flat white and a tiramusu. So the coffee came and the tiramusu had not anrrived after the coffee was long gone. I went up to the cashier. She said no refunds. I objected. She spoke to the coffee shop manager who was dressed like a manual worker on a building site. This is unfortunately an independent and very rough operation. Nothing like you expect at David Jones. More like a builders shed canteen I was informed that it would be ten minutes. I had finished my coffee and declined asking for my money back. $12.50. No. You can’t have your money back. The manager of the coffee shop said it will be refunded but not in my account until next day. Bearing in mind that I didn’t exchange something in the shop. I just never received it. I called for the David Jones Store Manager. Another guy came. Very unhelpful. Then he went and got Deputy Store Manager who apologised but could do nothing. She agreed that the coffee shop was rough. So hopefully the DJ management in Melbourne will see this. Go anonymously to “your” coffee shop in Pacific Fair. This is a disgrace to be in any store let alone “up market David Jones”. “There’s no other store like David Jones”. No there is not because this coffee shop belongs on a building site. Rough as guts.
Excellent customer
I had the pleasure of being assisted by Camelia at the Basement Converse department at David Jones, and I couldn’t be more impressed. She helped me with an online return and made the entire process so smooth and stress-free. Her courtesy, professionalism, and excellent customer service truly stood out. Camelia was wonderful to deal with friendly, efficient, and genuinely helpful. A big thank you for making my experience such a positive one!

They sent me the wrong item and refused to reimburse me for it even after I retuned it to them. Now having to get the authorities involved. Order 131239796
Nobody answers the phones! Horrendous customer service
The most horrendous customer service when trying to call or contact anyone in the David Jones Elizabeth Street Sydney store! Which is supposed to be the flagship David Jones store in Australia! Waited on hold on the phone for 35+ minutes today trying to get through to the menswear dept to ask a simple question about collecting my suit. Passed from 1 person to the next and eventually cut off saying it was "out of hours" at 1pm in the afternoon. Disgusting service, if you cannot even answer the phones for your customers who just spent $1000+ instore, I cannot imagine how bad the service must be when people come into the store :-( Disappointed customer
It is the last time I will buy…
It is the last time I will buy something from David Jones. I purchased 10 boxes of chocolate as an Easter gift for the team and spent $460. Each box has chocolate covered in a white powdery layer. It looks mouldy, and I cannot give it as an Easter gift. I am a four-hour drive one way from the closest David Jones store and must return it by post. Due to the box's weight and size, postage costs me over $70, which I will not pay myself because it is not a change of mind return; the product is defective. For over 10 days, I have been trying to contact customer support, waiting on the phone for hours without any result and sending numerous emails without any response. I have been a David Jones customer for 20 years, but not anymore.
Selling items not in stock - sham of a company. Should be investigated by fair trade!
When you buy online David Jones will cancel the majority of your orders the next day - stating no stock. You then have to wait for up to a week for a refund. This has happened more than 20 times in the last two weeks. If you can’t get the item in store don’t waste your time - I just buy direct from the brand now - so much easier than dealing with this cluster of a company.
Thieves
Thieves. They have at present stolen $206.50 from me. I returned two items and they clearly made an error at the warehouse and only scanned one for return. They are now condescendingly suggesting I didn't include it in the returns parcel which I most certainly did.
Absolutely disgusting company to deal with who's previous excellent reputation is a thing of the past.
Never ever purchase from David Jones.
I strongly encourage the many people who have been ripped off by David Jones to contact Fair Trading and make a formal complaint. 10 complaints in a calendar month will result in David Jones being listed on the public register, which they absolutely deserve given their conduct.
