We had been worried about getting it right so our mam had the funeral she would have wanted.
In the time it took to enjoy a cup of tea, we knew David was going to be there for us, every step of the way. And he was!
David had everything under control; at the same time making it easy for us to include our own ideas and mam’s various wishes. He managed the budget brilliantly; within our means - same high quality.
David Knowles gave us a perfect day.

My family have just used David this last few weeks following the death of my father. The service David has provided has been exceptional both in support and professionalism. He has been available without delay and so accommodating for our families needs and requirements. I strongly recommend David's company and the services and compassion he provides. A seamless service throughout which made things very easy for my mother and family.

From the moment we met David, he took the stress away, during a very upsetting time.
He handled our mother’s cremation with the utmost professionalism and dignity. Nothing was too much trouble, emphasising we could contact him at any time. He talked us through the whole procedure and we felt we could totally rely on him as he was so easy to talk to.
He went above and beyond ensuring, during Mum’s direct cremation, that her favourite piece of music was played. He even played the whole album during her final journey to the crematorium- which we felt was so thoughtful. He drove the route that we had picked, and slowed down the car for us, as we waited at the side of the road to say our final goodbyes. He showed so much care and compassion- phoning us to advise when the ceremony had ended.
We are so very grateful for David’s support and highly recommend his services to anyone in need.

Although we chose a direct cremation with no service, every step was handled with dignity, warmth and absolute professionalism.

David made such an awful time much more bearable, he was so understanding and gentle with me. He explained everything that was going to happen and was so patient, nothing was too much trouble and I felt I could really rely on him. Also, a big thank you to Caroline (celebrant) as well - between them both they were really lovely.

From the start David made us feel that we were in safe hands, having suffered the sudden loss of our Dad. David was supportive, kind and caring. Nothing was too much trouble and he was always at the other end of the phone if we needed him. He also recommended Caroline as our celebrant and she was also so lovely and kind. We met Dave a few days after my Dads passing. He instantly put the family at ease during such a difficult time. Dave talked us through all the options and guided us through the whole process , regularly checking in with my sister and I to make sure everything was ok. Throughout the entire process, David was a model of professionalism and made the process as straightforward and painless as possible. Nothing was too much trouble for him, he was available for us whether it was out of hours or on weekends, he was always happy to offer advice and guidance for myself and our family to help us plan the funeral how we wanted it to be.

He organised everything - flowers, celebrant, website stream, etc - and took all the pressure off us. Most important of all, he looked after our father with dignity, humility and respect at every step of the way.

We turned to David Knowles and his help, support and guidance from the moment we contacted him was invaluable. The professionalism and kindness shown to the family was excellent. David and his team kept the family informed every step of the way. His links to a memorial page, set up for our relative to allow us to place our personal tributes, was beautiful. We could not fault David and his team nor would we want to. From the beginning when we first met David at Butterwick Hospice, David treated our 33 year old daughter and ourselves with the utmost respect, professionalism and dignity. David catered for our every need, whether big or small. He was friendly, practical and approachable. Nothing was a trouble to him. And he smiled when appropriate!
Thankfully we do not use Funeral Directors often in our lives but David made the whole process a lot easier.

David came to Butterwick Hospice and worked with the staff so that we were able to see our daughter leave and go into his care.

He organised the whole funeral including the wake, efficiently, carefully and with every attention to detail, carrying out our daughter's wishes. Orders of Service, flowers, Music, photographs, on line link, all organised by David. The flowers were exquisite. The Celebrant, Caroline, was amazing.

Viewing our daughter was very special. David was flexible and accommodating regarding family members visiting.

The Funeral itself was meticulous in detail. A day I dreaded was actually enjoyable. David did our daughter proud. When I stood up to speak, which was quite terrifying, there was David at the back of a crowded Crematorium with his multi coloured tie shining out. He gave me confidence.

Since the funeral David has continued to liaise with us.

David recently managed my father's funeral arrangements and provided an outstanding service across the board. We had some complexity in managing a repatriation abroad, but David made everything simple, easy and smooth from start to finish, ensuring that the administrative process did not become an additional burden for us when managing the emotional toll of losing a loved one.
