Everything is great just a few minor more cosmetic things which for the price you pay you'd expect better, such as some of the cable machines in the gym not working, the towels being tiny, and the out... See more

DL Kidbrooke gets all the 'big' stuff right; the class timetable is decent, the gym equipment is good, the spa is lovely and the indoor and outdoor pools are great. The biggest bonus by far is the instructors who are amazing; especially Debora Maietta, Rob Baldi, Peter Herbert and John Twamley and Leanne Gilbert ... BUT the club consistently fails to get the day to day running. and operations bit right; for example, if an instructor is on holiday they often fail to schedule a replacement, whoever does the timetable 'forgets'! On top of that the following issues are a source of annoyance to a lot of members:
The yoga studio floor is filthy and never cleaned properly;
Just about every clock in the gym/spa/changing room is wrong or stopped (important to members if you are rushing to a class);
The sauna is quite often not hot enough;
The ice bath or ice shower is often not cold enough;
If the spin teacher is away a virtual class is scheduled which is fine but the tech nearly always fails (screen fails to load properly if at all) -
The rubbish bins are not emptied,
Old bottles left in spa for days,
Water stations/taps often not working;
Water cups in spa not clean or refilled;
Shampoo/soap / lotion dispensers in changing rooms are left empty for days;
TVs in changing rooms are not switched on or are on sports channel (how many women like snooker or motor racing? why can't we listen to the news whilst getting changed?) - feedback given but never listened too by management team.
etc etc - I could go on and on.
Come on DL management team; you need to up your game; these are all easy issues to sort out, you just need to be on top of things and run daily checks.
At £250 per month membership fees you need to be better and provide a full service.

I really value my David Lloyd membership. As a family it gets us up and moving and doing things together. My daughter’s tennis and swimming lessons are the best part as she has made so much progress over two years. I would like the Ipswich club to offer Padel and more yoga type classes as well as spa facilities like some of the other local clubs. The cost is quite high. But still five stars from me. Also Ipswich has lovely staff :)

My home club is falling apart. Roof leaking affecting the use of the indoor courts. The outdoor courts are either split on the top courts or the playing service on the bottom courts is creased and both have dead spots. Its embarrassing. Other clubs are spending money Bolton is trying to put a plaster on a gunshot wound. The club smells of sewage most of the time. The staff are lovely but until some money is spent they're fighting a loosing battle. There's not one club in the David Lloyds chain that I've visited is worse than Bolton I'm ashamed to say.
I only gets 1 star due to the bar staff and reception.

Been a loyal member of David Lloyd Cheadle for over 28 years….its a little haven in the current world we live in and as a family we are most grateful to the Cheadle club.
However, recently I had a query with my daughter’s renewal and spoke with various people.
Eventually, it was Lucy Bull from Membership support who sorted it all out most quickly and professionally. We are so grateful for her time, help, and support.
Lucy taught our daughter to play tennis when she was around four years old and now she’s 24 and still plays tennis at DL regularly!
Thanks Lucy.

Loving my sessions with PT Stef Mikelson.
Helping me to regain my confidence after a long period of incapacity.
Stef has understood what I needed from the first time we met.

David Lloyd Gidea Park is consistently dirty. The maintenance standards are extremely poor; even while being the most expensive gym in the area.
I have sent numerous emails (with photos) in the last 2 years to the Manager, the Assistant Manager and even the Regional Manager. I have even met them and walked them through the problems. But nothing gets fixed. Specifically:
1/ The poolside area floor - from out of the mens changing rooms and right around the pool is constantly dirty. The floor has ingrained dirt dating back years. It is disgusting.
2/ The inside and outside of the sauna and steam doors poolside are rarely cleaned (outside very occasionally, poorly - inside - never happens) so they are always water stained and look disgusting when you are sitting inside looking out.
3/ The floors in the sauna and steam are frequently dirty. They used to have a worm problem in the steam. That has gone away, at the moment, but seems to re-occur frequently. But underneath the benches in the poolside sauna is still disgusting, and the steam doesn't feel as clean as it should. It feels run down. Several tiles are missing in the seating area, and there is random grout on the wall.
4/ The Sauna and Steam frequently have rubbish in them. Most days I clear a couple of empty water bottles from each that are just laying about. They are never checked. It is disgraceful. These should be checked frequently. Why do your customers have to do the job of a cleaner every time they come?
5/ The poolside water fountain is very underpowered, barely a dribble, and generally warmish, so unpleasant to drink and takes an age to run.
The poolside water fountain needs a new cooling unit and also a gadget fitted to increase the water pressure.
I have pointed this out for YEARS... But it never gets fixed. Even as we are having record temperatures.... It is disgraceful.
The water should be very cold and have a decent pressure on demand.
6/ By the bin poolside there looks like what is white mould all over the wall. It looks awful. I have pointed this out 18 months ago; but it never gets fixed.
7/ The air conditioning in the gents changing room does not work. In fact, one of the units has a note on it from April 2023 (over three years ago) to say that it is blocked and doesn't work. The note is still there in June 2026. It still doesn't work. The air conditioning (as temperatures are running at 36 degrees...) in the changing room does not work properly.
Equally, across the gym, the air conditioning units look absolutely filthy. If you look at the grates on them, and over the top, they are absolutely covered in dirt and black dust. I doubt very much they have been cleaned in 20 years; but they absolutely need to be; and this should be made a priority.
What kind of air quality does a unit have if they aren't properly cleaned in 20 years?
8/ The jacuzzi poolside is now far too hot and often not open as a result. Previously it was too cold.
It is like a comedy of errors. Why not install some kind of thermostat on it to regulate the temperature?
9/ Cleanliness in general poolside is just really, really lacking. None of the chrome is ever polished. It is all dull and lifeless. The floors are dirty. The doors are dirty. There is usually rubbish lying about. There is white mould on the walls. You look through the slats in the sauna and the floor is filthy. The water fountain dribbles out warmish water.
10/ The mens changing area, particularly the showers are very poor. Lots of leaking units. Small heads on the showers. No-where to hang your stuff.
It is poor. There are just no checks and no quality standards being upheld.
It is all very sub-standard for such an expensive gym.
And one that has massively hiked its prices.
In the last year my membership went up by 13%.
The club has recently spent a lot of money on new doors (£90,000 I believe) and £750,000 on new padel tennis courts.
But seems incapable of spending the small amounts needed to maintain proper cleanliness and decent standards.
It is very, very odd. When you contact them, they start by ignoring you. Then eventually, after much prompting they will answer you. But then proceed to not actually DO anything.
No more broken promises please David Lloyd Gidea Park.
All of these issues have now been outstanding for YEARS! Literally years...
Fix these ten issues please.
It really isn't very much to ask.
