Improvements needed

Overall, David Lloyd offers a great concept with excellent facilities and plenty of potential. The range of amenities is impressive, and it has all the ingredients to be a fantastic club.

However, the club is currently showing signs of wear and feels somewhat run down in places. The coffee and social area could also benefit from a wider food and drink offering to make it a more appealing space to relax and work from.

The biggest issue is the air-conditioning. The gym area and changing rooms are often uncomfortably hot, particularly given the gym’s proximity to the swimming pool, which can make workouts less enjoyable. Some of the gym equipment is also looking tired, with visible rust on certain machines.

To be fair, the management team has advised that improvement works are planned for later this summer, including upgrades to the air-conditioning system and replacement or refurbishment of affected gym equipment. These changes should make a significant difference to the overall member experience.

I look forward to seeing the improvements completed and will be happy to update my review once the work has been carried out.

The club is a friendly social space…

The club is a friendly social space where the Baristas know your coffee needs and the instructors work hard to give you the best workout
Equipment in the gym is top of the range and the pool is always a bonus

Joined DLC about 2 weeks ago

Joined DLC about 2 weeks ago. Have had all my 3 free kick-start PT sessions with Carmisa which has really been great, as an absolute beginner to the gym environment she has worked with me at my pace and level and not to overdo things, but at the same time giving me the gentle push needed to excel myself and push for more. Definitely would not hesitate to recommend Carmisa a she is a great PT.

Enjoying the spa retreat very much as well and starting to try out different classes upon availability.

Overall, good experience so far with the DLC akr the staff are friendly and helpful.

I just joined David Lloyd kings hill…

I just joined David Lloyd kings hill and all in all I really like it! Staff are so friendly, food is great, service is fab! Facilities are wonderful! I only have 2 little wholes to pick…

Firstly, I really wish they would run a odd few groups for kids under 3!! These are the kids that probably need the groups the most! I’m talking music and dance groups, little football groups, little stay and play sessions with various toys etc. very unstructured with an adult needing to be present. Honestly even just once a week or every few weeks would be amazing! I genuinely think there would be loads of interest and a lot of toddler mums who would RAVE about this!

Secondly, I really struggle to get a space in the family parking bays as it’s so busy. Given that I have a toddler and i’m the extra space is very needed. I don’t usually mind parking in a regular space except the spaces in this car park are SO small, I either have to park so far away and hope no one parks next to me so i can get my boy in and out (I’m also pregnant so its even harder) - or I’m just wedged between 2 cars and have to attempt to squeeze my toddler in the front before squeezing in myself, moving him on my lap, moving car forward enough to open doors fully and then i can get him in. It’s not the end of the world, but just something I’ve noticed each time visiting and it’s an exhausting process.

Other than these things, I would honestly highly recommend David Lloyd! Love it!

I really enjoyed contrast therapy in…

I really enjoyed contrast therapy in Spa retreat by Nicola.
This session really helped me relax and the way Nicola planned the session was amazing. She is very knowledgeable and friendly. Her guidance helped me improve my overall well-being.
I think more session should be arranged in the evening after day work for relaxation and healing sore muscles.

David Lloyd , Poole is the complete fitness, spa and lounge experience. The classes are run by excellent and knowledgeable leaders, and the spa is absolutely first class, the new facilities are top end and so luxurious and beneficial I can’t rate it highly enough. If you can join, do! I have so much benefit from all of the facilities.

Member Friendly Paradise!!

I’ve been with David Lloyd Leisure for a good few years now. Exeter was recently refurbished and throughout the refurbishment DLL kept the Club going and the service level excellent, as well as keeping everybody informed. Disruption was minimal. The newly improved spa areas opened earlier than advertised and they are absolutely awesome!! it’s worth the membership just for that, but the classes and staff and personal trainers and equipment are all absolutely brilliant. The attention to their members is really good too, I recently had a car accident and they have allowed me to pause my membership while I recover thank you David Lloyd Leisure you are brilliant!

Mixed feelings!

I love the club once I am inside, but the parking is dreadful and you have to arrive before 9.15 am to secure a space.
Parking restrictions and parking fines have now been introduced without notifying guests and if you park 1 inch out side of the space you get fined !
Elizabeth Toth is my PT who is great and knows how to push me and Judith Michaels and Rebecca Valins for Pilates mat and reformer both are really good teachers and give options to go further for those who can!

On my first day

On my first day, I was welcomed warmly by the reception staff—though I didn't aware the name of her. Coach Hannah gave me a brief, friendly overview of where the cafeteria and other facilities were located. My first tennis lesson with Paul was productive, and I was very pleased with him. For the HIIT group cycling class, Coach Neil welcomed me in a friendly and helpful manner; I really enjoyed the session. I hope more of Neil's HIIT group cycling classes are scheduled. Finally, I also received some information about the showers from a middle-aged cleaning staff member whose name I didn't catch; they were also very friendly and helpful.

⚠️ WARNING TO ALL MEMBERS OR POTENTIAL MEMBER: Severe security failure and appalling customer service.
On 4th June, while I was inside using the club facilities, my Lexus CT200h had its catalytic converter cut out and stolen in the private David Lloyd member car park.
When I spoke to the Club Manager, Fabio, he admitted to me that my vehicle was not an isolated incident—another Lexus CT200h was targeted and hit on the exact same day. These thieves had the time and security freedom to bring jacks and loud industrial power saws onto private property to target multiple cars, completely undetected by any security or staff.
For a club that charges premium membership fees, the security monitoring here is entirely inadequate.
Worse still is how David Lloyd treats its victims. I have entirely stopped visiting the club since this traumatic and highly disruptive incident occurred. Despite this, management has flatly refused to refund my June membership fee. They are perfectly happy to pocket my money for a month where my car was vandalised on their watch, and where I haven't even stepped foot in the building.
I have formally escalated this matter to the Metropolitan Police and my insurance legal protection team to pursue a negligence claim. If you value your property and expect basic customer care when things go wrong, avoid this club. They only care about your monthly direct debit, not your safety.
