Having bought Dell products for over 10 years adn having had some issues I cannot fault the company for their returns policy and customer service and support, over the 10 years we were not happy with 2 Alienware systems bought at the same time, we returned both for a full refund, no problem. Son bought a 4 grand alienware system only last year, one fan became a bit noisy after a few months, rang support, within 3 days a guy called to the house and replaced all the top fans, no issue, all we ever buy is Dell beciase of their customer support, always contactable and on site repairs is second to none. Just bought a new €1700 laptop in December because of experience so far and a €1600 monitor last month. Also just to note Dell updates on their equipement goes on for years which is specific to the equipement you buy. 5 stars all the way

Dell Laptop DOA, Service and Support gone dark. Avoid.

I've been buying and using Dell with my own money for almost twenty years but I should have come here or to Google before my last purchase.
My ongoing experience with a DOA Dell and their so called Premium Support has put me off ever buying from Dell again. I bought a Ryzen 7 Inspiron on February 24/22. It arrived -eventually- about March 10th and immediately rebooted on startup. The erratic behaviour continued and I eventually tried a full system restore to factory image. All to no avail. Several hours over a number of days with Support with them embarassed by seeing it crap out and Dell agreed to "consider" a replacement.

Days later they cheerfully announced they would seek a suitable replacement - even though the identical spec was showing in stock online. Then they sent me a spec to sign off except I noticed it had 8 instead of the 16GB I paid for. I replied it's an inferior spec and over the next few days got two separate agents insisting it was identical.

The service supervisor call they booked with me with a two hour window never happened after I waited in for three hours.

Apparently a replacement is finally on its way since March 25 but it's already April 7, the tracking info for Synchreon doesn't work and "Premium Support " have ceased contact and my emails are now bouncing off both the support addresses I had been using - apparently blocked. They've had my money since Feb 25.

To cap it all they insist my warranty is ticking away all this time even though the unit was dead on arrival.

Don't buy from Dell but if you do, ensure you pay by Credit Card and if you have any issues out of the box reject the unit immediately as they have a very short window to reject which they'll burn up fast with remote repair attempts. But I'll never buy from them again and now I'm going to get my money back via credit card.

XPS laptops - technical disgrace for this price

Over a year ago I've bought 2k eur+ XPS 9500 laptop and this is literally the worst device I ever had . Out of the box it overheated, randomly throttled CPU and in the end required A LOT of manual tweaks in Windows and with the Dell tools to change power/performance settings to achieve SOMEWHAT stable situation.

When the laptop arrived it was occasionally crashing and reporting Memory errors (BIOS/POST/SupportAssist tests saying there is bad memory in one of the slots) but despite all that DELL decided to first replace the motherboard leaving the fault RAM in place because apparently this is what Dell's repair runbooks suggest. It took two visit to have it sorted out.

Now my 1.5y doesn't charge and I have to fully shutdown the system, connect the charge while the laptop is off and only then I can charge it.

Do yourself a favor and buy something that actually works.

Excelent PCs but.....

I have been buying Dell PCs for almost twenty years. To me they represent quality, class and longevity. They use the best components and are competitively priced. Two Dell XPS that I bought eight years ago are still going strong and have never had any components replaced. I would not buy any other PC. I give them 5/5 for quality and workmanship.
As for their customer support and waiting for deliveries etc. I can only give them 3/5 here. They don’t always give accurate delivery times. When contacted, they can be defensive and unhelpful. I have also found it difficult at times to understand their customer service reps.
I would prefer if they dealt more honestly with us even if that meant saying the PC will not arrive for eight weeks. Then I could accept that and wait.

Poor service

I ordered my new lap top based on performance reviews of the product unfortunately I should have looked at service reports ,nearly 3mths later and my lap top still hasn't arrived and they have taken payment. I am trying to cancel and get a refund but it is not an easy process. So disappointed ,thought I was dealing with a quality company. No explanations no proactive engagement ,no customer service.

Think carefully before buying Dell

I purchased a Dell 7400 laptop thinking it was a premium product but after 6 weeks, just over the 1 month return date, the motherboard failed. An engineer came out and replaced it only for that one to be faulty too because the power port was not set in properly so it couldn't charge. He returned again a few days later and put another one in but 5 minutes after he left, it failed again as before. Shutting down randomingly and freezing. I went back to him and the service agent and requested a replacement. They insisted that it had to be sent away as I didn't have premium service. It was sent to Poland and yet another new motherboard was put into it. It was finally returned and shut down almost immediately with general use. I am now keeping a diary of its faults and it seems to have stopped for now but I don't hold out any hope for it. I can't risk keeping any information on it or using it for anything important. As other reviewers have said there is a problem with their quality control so don't buy Dell.

New Monitor - delay, delay, delay, cancelled!!

I ordered a new monitor direct from Dell Ireland and when ordered they gave me an estimated shipping date, its was right underneath the purchase button!

One of the reasons I chose this monitor, the AW3821DW, was because it was due to ship, pretty quickly, within a week and it was on sale with 20% off. The date came and went and then Dell delayed the order 4 times over a few weeks until without reason they eventually just cancelled the order.

At no time was I told why, I had to chase customer service each time to find out what was happening. All they could tell me was "stock issues". Why would you have a sale on a product that isn't available?!

I really was looking forward to getting the monitor. It was meant to be a 40th birthday present for myself. What a sham Dell is. Crap service and I will avoid Dell in the future.

Laptop under waranty

Laptop under waranty - purchased in Ireland. Developed 'Black' screen syndrome likely due to incompatible 'updates'. Rang Dell so-called customer support (3 times) on January 28, 2020. Spoke to personnel in (probably) India. Each staff member referred me to so-called 'Service'. Service immediately cut me off with advice to contact them when they are available (no advice as to when that might be - sounds like never??), and with cheery goodbye and dialtone. And this despite my advising Customer Services representative ov what my dead end experience had previously been with rep number 1 😥

Zero stars; never buying Dell (ever) again

One star only because there is no zero. Where to begin? My XPS 15 purchased in March 2019 began to act up almost immediately, but I did not contact support until after the 14 day returns period ended (more fool me). There were so many faults with the laptop that I was constantly opening new cases. I spent literally hours being directed through changes, or sitting in while a service engineer worked remotely on the laptop. By the time that July came there were so many problems that an engineer was sent to my house. The screen and the touchpad were replaced. Two months later the problems had started again. They sent a second engineer and replaced more substantial parts. By November, as problems had started again, I had had enough. I had to go through an extremely long chain of phone calls INSISTING that my case be escalated to finally get in touch with someone who agreed, after much insistence, to replace the model. By December there were already some issues. Once again I went through a round of phone calls and emails, carrying out endless fixes, downloads updating drivers etc. The problems dripped on for months. It wasn't until I started to complain about a very hot touchpad that they agreed to send a new engineer. The whole cooling system was changed along with the motherboard and touchpad. By late September all of the original problems were returned. They sent a second engineer in October who replaced cooling system again along with hard drive. That didn't work so he returned the following day with something else. That didn't work either, at which point Dell agreed to give me a refund. My laptop was taken by courier on a Monday, and I was assured of a refund within 3 - 5 days. After 7 days I asked for an update, Next day I was given some story about the details of my card. Having continued to send details, emailing and phoning requesting a status update on my refund, I was informed that it would be another 3 - 5 days until my refund came through, at which point it will be over 3 weeks since my laptop was dispatched to Dell with a tracking number. I am still waiting. I now know that the XPS 13 is renowned for cooling system problems which were responsible for the entire range of issues that kept emerging. I also now know that it is common knowledge there are serious quality control issues with Dell products and that customer service is patchy. All of the individual service engineers with whom I conversed were great people, as helpful as they could be. The problem is with the system, which is designed to put customers off contacting support, as far as I can see. NEVER EVER BUYING FROM DELL AGAIN, even though they offered me a (meagre) 12% discount on a further purchase to compensate me for the inconvenience. What a joke.

Don't Buy Dell

Don't believe the website - the delivery times mean nothing. I ordered a laptop that initially was to arrive 1 week later, this was then revised to 2 weeks later, and again to another 3 weeks later! At this point I contacted Dell to get more information and soon discovered that the laptop I was waiting for was never going to arrive - apparently they weren't making this model anymore and yet it was still advertised and available to order on the website. A Dell customer care person advised me to cancel my order and make a new order - I sought advice on a laptop that was actually in stock and meeting my requirements but they were not helpful and really didn't seem to care that I was frustrated having wasted a lot of time and energy. I will buy from another company.
