A great two week break
Not long got back from a two week break from Denbury farm. I stayed in Oak cottage with three members of my family. The cottage itself was very well equipped spacious and comfortable. The fishing you had to work hard at but very rewarding when you did catch. All the fish here are in excellent condition and a good size with plenty of double figure fish caught by ourselves and other guests during our stay.
The farm itself is a very fascinating place with lots of rare animals and wildlife to be found, including wallabies. Colin and Margerate were always helpful and friendly, definitely will be booking for next year.
Summer at Denbury Farm
Our stay at the cottage was a wonderful break for our family this summer.
The cottage was immaculate with everything we needed in terms of home comforts and the hosts Colin and Margaret were so warm and welcoming too.
The fishing pond was well stocked with carp and ideal for the fishing members of the family whilst the others spent time relaxing and feeding the animals. The front garden was visited by many wild birds over the two weeks of our stay.
When we were there, we booked for three weeks next summer and can't walt to return.
Lovely peaceful and quiet location
Lovely peaceful and quiet location. Nice cottages, good and central for exploring. Made a pleasant change not having to fight for pegs, its fishing guest's only. Had an excellent 18.6 ghost carp and lots of doubles, the bigger fish were more interested in sunning themselves on the top. Well worth a visit.

The accomodation suited us down to the ground clean and comfortable.
The fishing again was great too , catching numerous double figure carp, decent size roach too.
This being our second visit ...we have already pencilledin a return next year.
Relaxing break and fishing@denburyfarm
What a lovely old style break so relaxing I stayed here with the ideas of fishing but I was so chilled I found myself just watching the wildlife and the chickens emus and the badgers roaming around not to say the lama just rolling around outside my window
The 5 hours I did fish I caught 6 carp to 18.6 lb ps loved the fresh chicken eggs that was laid just outside in the garden WiFi was a bit hit and miss will be booking again
Great fishing and very peaceful
My wife and I spent two extremely enjoyable days @ Denbury with some friends who had gone for the week. Our friends fished Kingfisher Flight all week and had many good fish to about 5lb with some lovely Crucian.
I too had plenty of good fighting fish all in excellent condition out of Kingfisher Flight, mainly Commons. I had an hour sessions on Little Grebe @ dusk the day before I left as I had seen some good activity there. Unfortunately I didn't beef up my tackle and was fishing a bit light. I hooked a very large fish which I lost on a snag after about 20 minutes because I couldn't hold it back. I persuaded my wife to allow me to do an hour at sun up on the day we were leaving to have another go for it. This was a most pleasurable session with three great fighting fish; two Commons of 8lb and 12lb and the last a Ghosty in superb condition and weighing 20lb.
The place is very quite and fairly remote, the fish are there if you take time to study the place and are quite easy to catch providing you are prepared to try something different. I don't enjoy fixed peg fishing, preferring to stalk individual fish or groups on my own away from others and this place was spot on for that.
Some people might find the bank access a little hard going and the cottages a bit tired but for us all was good and the place truly superb.
My wife, who doesn't even agree with fishing went out for her walks on both days and completely lost herself in all the wonderful countryside that is around so it's a win-win!
I will be back for that big one next year!
Beautiful place
I dont normally write reviews but after seeing a nasty one about Denbury Farm I wanted to tell about our stay,
It was wonderful. We booked Cider but got a larger cottage that was beautifully clean and comfortable. Bed was very comfy. It had an open planned ground floor with a very good kitchen and new reclining sofa.
Ash moaned that the fishing was very slow and the fish were tormenting him with very large fish passing his feet and at the top. I used my days walking the fields and woods taking photographs. I even photographed a kingfisher, how lucky was that. We went with Margaret to see the badgers, that was something special, the cubs even came out to greet me.
We had had a wonderful holiday and going back in October. Dont be put off by the bad review. It is a lovely place

I wouldn't of given it any star's if i could of the cottage was filthy we had to clean up and wash pot's that were dirty before we could cook anything and with covid we wasn't expecting this, there wasn't even batteries in the smoke alarms health and safety would have a field day here. As for the fishing that was diabolical over grown swims only 3 feet of water the rest was silt and the claims of 20 to 30 pound fish were a fantasy,10 rod's fished that lake for a week the biggest fish just over 10lbs the average was 6 to 8lbs. The owner had the ordasity to say we weren't very good fishermen when we have caught big carp all over the country and france. I wouldn't recommend this place to any serious fishermen who's looking to catch big carp as there are non existence

Just back from another brilliant week…
Just back from another brilliant week at Denbury. So so relaxing sitting by a lovely lake with trees all changing colour for the autumn. Enjoyed the fishing although harder at this time of year. Love all the animals even if black swans are annoying when trying to fish-but hey makes it more of a challenge. Great walks across fields and into the woods where collected loads of sweet chestnuts -delicious. just love this place and owners so much -already booked for next year. Great cottage with lovely view of farm yard each morning with lots of animals and chicken, peahen, and various other animals waiting for breakfast. And what a joy in evening to watch the cctv screen with badgers, foxes; deer and even a squirrel feeding. Better than watching tv. JUST LOVE THIS PLACE. Thankyou Margaret and Colin
Spent a superb week at Denbury farm…
Spent a superb week at Denbury farm with my family and parents. We had 2 separate cottages, a 3 bedroom and a 2 bedroom. The cottages were clean and very cosy and homely. The children loved feeding the animals with the lovely Margaret and also enjoyed listening to some of Colin's stories.
Our break reminded me of the family holidays we enjoyed when I was a child without all the distraction of modern life.
The fishing was superb and me my father and eldest son all caught some memorable fish, the roach on the main pond are some of the best we've ever caught.
The genuine passion that Colin and Margaret show for the animals on the farm is exceptional. They both show a massive amount of love and affection for both the farm and wild animals that call the farm home.
This is our second visit and we will definitely be back again. I would highly recommend a holiday at Denbury farm to anyone.

Had a great time fishing and lots of interesting animals to view .Only a short walk to a Steam railway and a brewery. I have visited Denbury Farm on several occasions and will most likely go back again.
We had a wonderful two weeks at Denbury Farm
We had a wonderful two weeks at Denbury Farm recently. The array of animals there is fascinating, and we loved hearing Margaret’s stories about them! My teenagers were able to help feed the animals which they loved. The fishing was enjoyable (even though we struggled to catch much on the main lake, although others seemed to find it easier!) and the fish in pristine condition, and gave a really good fight. A wonderful holiday - we will definitely go back.
Denbury Farm
Had a lovely peaceful week at Denbury Farm. Fishing good.Hosts Colin and Margaret were brilliant, always on hand if needed. Lots of interesting animals on the farm especially the meercats and cabybaras. Webcam fascinating to watch. We saw deer, badgers and foxes.Stayed in cosy cottage and the farm is in a good location for days out.
Love this place and will be staying in…
Love this place and will be staying in August for our second holiday of the year here . 8 years we have stayed here there are some reviews on here that are not good but remember this is a working farm so don't expect the Ritz but you will have a great holiday especially if you have kids as the animals and country side are second to none and the fishing is amazing, as for the owners you are brill and you moaners stick to your high heels and cocktails
Another lovely week had at Debury farm
Another lovely week had at Debury farm. The fishing was as good as usual, we caught lots of wonderful fish, massive Roach, Rudd and Tench. The wildlife at Denbury is fascinating, and each cottage has a wildlife live cam screen, so you can watch the badgers, foxes and deer feeding at dusk. We loved all of the animals on the farm especially the meerkats, llamas and turkey! The owners Colin and Margaret were excellent hosts, and made our stay extra special. We stayed in the 2 bedroom cottage which was very comfortable and just a short walk from the lakes. We're looking forward to returning again next year.
These cottages were totally unfit for…
These cottages were totally unfit for human habitation. Cobwebs everywhere, dead flies on a massive scale, huge cracks in the ceilings, window frames with huge gaps to the outside world, mouldy curtains in virtually every room, toilets held down with big screws sticking out of the floor, stains on the living room carpets, a badly leaking shower that meant that anyone sitting in the front room had a shower aswell, dangerous wiring throughout the cottages and farm, a fridge that was covered in mould, an oven that didn't work, urine covered mattresses, unclean bed linen, a children's play area that consisted of a swing that also was surrounded by bird poo, sun lounger and chairs that looked like they had been left out for the entire winter, only one of the lakes was fishable. I could go on. We left on the third day with our three year old. Disgusted that the owner allowed us and other people to stay in these cottages. We didn't ask for our money back because the owner would never have agreed to giving us a refund. Lots of people have left bad reviews on here, and they have all been removed, but mark my words when I say that this place is not for you. Please also see google reviews.

Family fun
We're a family of 5 and have been coming here for 8 years! Lovely place, lots to do, great animals and great owners! Always made to feel so welcome and the fishing is great too! Would definitely recommend the place! Our daughter has grown up coming here each year and at nearly 15 still loves it and can't wait to come back again in August!!
Our stay at Denbury Farm May 2018
Stayed at Denbury Farm in May 2018 and intend going back. Rustic charm in a tranquil rural setting, surrounded by animals from the exotic to the indigenous. Three venues for fishing and easy access to the locality. Cosy cottages and very friendly patrons, Margaret and Colin -
it's a no brainer!!!
Another world
A Great holiday place if you’re into fishing and wildlife in general. You couldn't fail to catch a fish and the place is so peaceful you can really relax. The owners Colin and Margaret work long hours, but they always find time for a chat, and do anything they can to help you out and recommend places for you to go for food etc. They are lovely couple with a passion for all life.
If you walk beyond the house, early in the morning or as its getting dark you are almost guaranteed to see something; deer, foxes, badgers. The badgers and foxes are captured on a webcam every day and every cottage has a direct line to a screen where you can watch them. There are a number of animals there, all very friendly. Margaret has a magic touch with all of them.
The fishing lakes contain Common, Crucian and Mirror Carp, Rudd, Tench and Roach. The lakes are not overfished and the fish are in amazing condition. We went for one week, and were lucky enough to stay for two, we will definitely go back, that says it all!
