Smooth riding. Love it.

Great bike, real smooth, easy ride. Comfortable to ride. I have a “ New Belgium” model and the extra name plates, and leather seat and handlebar grips are a nice touch.
Only problem I’ve had was keeping the parts secured. The kickstand came loose on vacation and even a bike shop couldn’t get it tightened right. I had to invent a pad to hold the two parts together after really tightening the set screw.

I have the A-type, which I find to be a great bike around town. I think the three speed is plenty (I've ridden everything from fixed gear to carbon bikes) for this area. It's very comfortable and comes with excellent components for the cost. I might upgrade the bars and stem at some point as they're getting a little corroded with the bike living under roof on our front porch. My only real issues with the bike are the tires and fenders. For a commuter, the fenders are too small (short). I added mud flaps, which help. There is also too little clearance between the 32 mm tires and fenders....they often rub, requiring that I give the fender a little twist to find a quiet spot. I also find the tires to be kind of squishy even inflated to 80 psi. I plan to switch to a set of 28 mm Continental Gatorskin tires, which should solve both problems.

These are minor issues, really. I would definitely buy this bike again.

I purchased my first A type in Black from a dealer in Northville, a few months later I spoke to Katherine at the factory and had a B type built for my wife in Black (not an available color) with brown saddle and grips, we took delivery at the factory, had it fitted and test rode it around the factory floor! The company couldn’t do anything any better in my opinion. Both bikes have been fault free for the last 2 years.

I won a Detroit bike at a charity event and I absolutely LOVE it! It is well made and solid! It is my go-to bike when I want to cruise a bit and enjoy the views along the way.
