Always phone up Diamond for the best quote!!

So I've never had to make a claim whilst with Diamond, so I can't comment on that side of things, but wow they have always been ridiculously incredible when I call up about my renewal. Don't use the online chat though! I got a quote on compare the market for £382 from another company, whilst my Diamond renewal was £700. I went on the chat and they said the absolute best they could offer was £500 and something. So I called up and Mark from Diamond went through every little detail with me, figuring out what I could do to reduce my quote and he managed to match my £382 quote!!! I'm so happy with them and this is the second year they've done this for me.

They get you on the automatic renewal

Left after an extortionate renewal price £700 on a 1litre when I've been driving 20 years. Gave them plenty of notice that I was leaving well beforehand and told them they are not to automatically renew my policy.

What happened? They automatically renewed my policy for £700+, so I am currently disputing this and will likely have to persue a refund through my bank. Terrible company, don't bother getting involved.

Honestly had the best experience…

Honestly had the best experience renewing and revising my car insurance today. Called expecting to cancel due the the huge increase quoted online for a new car, however I was met with the best person and advisor who managed to reduce my quote and sort out every single detail needed. Paige S was her name, she was an absolute babe and made my day. She is probably the only reason why I stayed with Diamond insurance, top notch customer service. Thank you!

Rip off! After 5 years with them (no claims) I…

After 5 years with them (no claims) I had to scrap my car. Charged £55 cancellation fee and told me I'd get it back on a new policy within 3 months. Naturally, 2 months later, got new car and tried to reinstate. The £55 was news to the person I spoke to...the new quote was £140 more that comparison quote for 3rd/fire/theft! Went with different insurer and got fully comp for £130 cheaper. I don't think they need or want your money-so don't give it to them!

Overall good insurance company

As it was only my second year of driving, I didn’t expect a cheap quote and the one I was given was reasonable. Customer service I have to say was great for me! I unfortunately had to make claim but they were super helpful and understanding, having plenty of time to explain things to me a few times. The claim was handled and settled very quickly and I received my monies straight away. Even as a fairly new driver, I’d recommend this company.

Becoming very expensive. No loyalty. Customer service going downhill.

I've had a car insurance policy with Diamond for 12 years and have been becoming increasingly disappointed with the service over the last few years and finally today, I had enough and switched insurance provider.

In earlier years they have sent my renewal price through and it was always more expensive than the previous year but after giving them a call they have reduced it for me and matched the lower prices of competitors, so I continued to renew.

The last 3 years though, the price increases have been absolutely ridiculous. They have in fact, reduced the price after I've contacted them but still not exactly the cheapest out there, but small enough of a difference to be acceptable and save the bother of swapping. However, when this years renewal price came through I nearly fell off my chair! They increased the price of my policy by over £200, and after shopping around, the renewal price was a massive £300 more than a few other competitors offering the same amount of cover and benefits. Even quotes from providers offering extras and additional services were coming in at around £200 less! I should mention, none of mine or my husbands (named driver) circumstances has changed what so ever and have not made a single claim over the last 12 months. As it happens, I have never made a claim full stop.

I spoke with a customer adviser on the phone and although they did reduce the amount, it was still £175 more for the exact same cover from a different provider. I was told that it could be reduced to a similar price of the competitors quote but my husband would have to be taken off the policy as a named driver and I would loose my breakdown cover.. hardly value for money.

I was also less than impressed by the hard sell and bully boy tactics from the sales person. Which I have encountered on previous years negotiations from their sales staff, so it would be unfair to blame the individual staff member as I would think they are trained to use these sort of tactics of questionable morals. I don't personally take a great deal of notice and not so easily bullied or taken in by the sales prattle, but I do feel for their customers who are less confident and could feel cornered and pressurised in to taking out a policy they would have otherwise discounted. Complete opposite experience with my new provider by the way.

When I first joined Diamond 12 years ago, the customer service was great and the prices where competitive, it's such a shame that they have gone down hill in recent years and show no loyalty towards their long term customers. With a best price renewal promise from my new provider, unlike sneaky Diamond who whack up your premium every year, and not just by a few quid either, more like a few hundred! I would imagine, with the hope you'll just forget to shop around and just pay it! How awful for their more vulnerable, less sales savvy customers. I wonder how often they have been left hundreds of pounds out of pocket? Along with extra discounts on any other policies I or my family take out and with the pleasant added little bonus of a free telephone number, I will no longer have to pay for the privilege of speaking to Diamond - I already feel more valued as a customer after one day, than I felt with Diamond after 12 years. The only regret I have is not moving sooner!

Every person I've spoken to has been helpful, kind and really wants to get the best deal for you. I've been with them since I started driving, not through convenience, but through good experience and always getting the best deal. The last person I spoke to, Meg, was incredibly kind and patient. Really would recommend for trustworthy experience.

The policy seems to be good cover at a good price.
The downside is that I cannot find a one page document to have in my car with all the necessary info.
In fact I am in total confusion with multiple document going round in circles searching;
This is rather disappointing as the policy seems such good value.

Would give them zero stars

Having been with Diamond for three years we were reversed into while we were parked, our car was written off! The other party are with Admiral which is a part of Diamond so feel that the total lack of service is down to a conflict of interest and the claim being settled in house . We have done all the phoning ,chasing and have had to prompt them 4 hours after a phone call to arrange another car for us . Absolute shambles.

Diamonds are forever...

I have been with Diamond now for nearly 7 years and have only had good experiences. When I hit another vehicle and called up the customer service was nothing but helpful and supportive to me despite myself being at fault. When I recently bought a new car and rang to change my policy the servucr I received was again fantastic, they went above and beyond. Not the cheapest insurance I could get, but 100% worth the pennies, I'm sure I'll stick with them for years to come.
