Here is the weird email I have received after reporting this
Dear Customer,
Please note the following policy clearly:
The Windows license provided is an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) license.
OEM licenses are permanently bound to the first computer and motherboard (BIOS hardware ID) on which they are activated and cannot be transferred, reused, or reset under any circumstances.
Each Windows OEM license is valid for 1 PC and 1 motherboard only
The activation limit for this key has already been reached
We will not replace and we will not refund this license anymore
A BIOS update or firmware change can modify the motherboard’s hardware ID (including firmware identifiers, TPM, and system hash). When this happens, Microsoft may detect the system as a new device, which invalidates the previous activation.
This is why the issue occurred.
This behavior is fully controlled by Microsoft’s activation system and cannot be overridden, reset, or bypassed by us.
Important clarifications:
• Windows updates alone do not normally invalidate licenses
• BIOS updates and firmware changes can
• OEM licenses are hardware-bound
• 1 key = 1 PC = 1 motherboard
• Replacements are not unlimited
• Re-activation after BIOS or hardware identity changes is not guaranteed
If a new BIOS update changes the hardware ID again, a new Windows license must be purchased
The existing OEM key cannot be reused, and no further replacement will be provided
This is exactly why Microsoft recommends Retail licenses for users who:
• Update BIOS frequently
• Reinstall Windows often
• Modify system firmware or hardware configuration
This explanation is final and complete.

As outlined in our support policy, these licenses are hardware-bound by Microsoft’s internal systems, and once the activation limit is reached or the hardware fingerprint changes, the key cannot be reset or reused. Poor Customer Support with purchased products.
After buying 3 License keys back in December 2025, 2 for Windows 11 Pro and 1 x Windows 10 Pro using the Groupon App, I tried to redeem the vouchers in exchange for 3 x licenses From the DirectGames.Store but I was met with a screen which said "Form Closed To New Submissions."
After contacting the DirectGames.Store I was given short, sharp replies to my polite emails. They apparantly don't deal with Groupon UK anymore and when asked if they would honour my purchases they just replied "No"
This isn't a nasty review that I'm leaving, it's my experience with an on-line company that I will not deal with ever again.
However, after a recent email from the seller, Directgames.store, they ask me to contact Groupon for a refund as they hold my funds. Well believe me when I say I’ve tried, and failed. It’s impossible to contact Groupon by any method, there is no such existence of the “refund” button in the Groupon App. The app says I should be able to speak to a BOT, there is nowhere on the site to do that. A refund seems impossible to get on Groupon, I’ve tried and failed. So how does Directgames.shop expect me to get a refund?
Two companies that seem ok if you don’t have a problem, but two companies that don’t have a decent customer support service.

As we previously mentioned via email, because the transaction was made through GrouponUK they hold the funds for your purchase. To resolve this, you will need to contact GrouponUK customer support directly to request a full refund for your unused vouchers. They are responsible for processing returns for the deals sold on their app.

While we can no longer honor these specific vouchers, We regret that our previous communication did not meet your expectations; it was never our intention to be dismissive.
