Excellent service and product.
Carbon ridged forks have transformed my old mountain bike into my favourite go to bike.
“Fast delivery, Frame seems pretty good Quality. First Ride: so far so good - i‘m still alive ;-) Greetings from Switzerland”
Carbon Forks : Very good products, clean finish and looks amazing on the bike!
promised a review once I had a chance to wring the frame out so now, after 3 years, I can write an honest and complete review. Bottom line is I love the frame. It is nimble without being nervous, and pretty comfortable on singletrack. Climbs great (as you'd expect from a hardtail.) I love the top mount chainstay on the drive side - makes for no (minimal) chain slap which makes for a very quiet ride on all sorts of terrain. Frame is rock solid - no issues over the last few years. Matte finish is holding up great. Easy to build up and no fitment issues of any kind. There are only two negatives, both of which are minor - I'd like a higher bottom bracket, and I'd prefer a threaded bottom bracket rather than a press fit (but no real issue if you're willing to spring for a threaded shell.) Overall, a nearly perfect bike for my decidedly cross country focused riding. Just for reference, I was riding an early 2000's Stumpy FSR X/C. This Stache style frame feels a lot like the FSR, only better (and without the rear end flopping around, of course.)
I purchased the F150 carbon frame and wheels and they are the real deal.. It took time to get the build completed scowling the internet for promo codes, free shipping, and no taxes. It’s also a whole different world of pride when someone with a big box build inquires and tell em you built it from the frame up. Went with MRP for the suspension, SRAM drivetrain and brakes, PNW components, and then topped it off with SQLab saddle & handlebar.. What I took away from this experience is the knowledge about downhill biking gained by doing it myself. Looking forward to my next DCB build as they have outstanding support and are quick to respond..
Purchased the ultralight post. Dropped the dropper, and took at least a pound off my bike weight with this post. Loose it, if you don't use it!
“I had I pair of wheels and boy they are so good! I like look and very good quality as well. I am thinking of buying a second set. Thanks.🤗”
I bought the PT29 frame. The frame is a head-turner! I've had people pull up aside me on the highway to ask where the frame was from. This is the 27.5+ hardtail dream, and it's a blast to ride.
*Updated 9/15/2023 with dates of correspondence* Buying a set of integrated aero bar and stem from DiyCarbon was a huge mistake. First off the bars I received did not match what the site photos looked like. That was okay because they seemed fine. However, the advertised reach was 77mm and I made the mistake of building this bike up including routing new hydraulic brake lines, without measuring it. After the first ride it didn’t feel right and I found the reach was actually 122mm. That’s an entire hand size too long!
I reached out to Ty, the Owner, with photos and his response was that the stem size was correct, but he made no mention of the reach. It seemed like he didn’t actually understand what reach is. I own eight bikes, 4 of those are drop bar bikes and I’ve been riding and racing for over 30 years, I kind of know a little bit about bike sizing and geometry.
I responded a second time with photos using a digital caliper and did not hear anything until I started leaving poor reviews and filed a complaint with the BBB. He finally responded and we came to an agreement to remedy the situation, but I certainly would not recommend buying from there.
Timeline:
August 4th, 4:03pm - I emailed with photos showing the reach was incorrect.
August 9th, 11:57pm - I emailed again asking for an update.
August 11th, 12:21am - I finally received a response saying the stem length was correct but they did not address the reach issue.
August 11th 7:20am - I emailed again stating the reach was incorrect and asking for a resolution.
August 13th 6:24pm - I emailed again, this time with photos using a digital caliper showing the incorrect size.
August 15th 7:00am - I filed a complaint with the BBB and left this negative review on Trustpilot.
August 15th 11:39pm - I received a response offering a resolution. Stated they took them a few days to investigate the issue. The problem here is I never received a response saying they were looking into it. I didn’t get any proper response until I left a bad review.

“I have brought a few frames from Ty at DIY Carbon bikes now and raced them and put fun miles on them here in the UK. The frame is great, has a level of compliance to it which makes it super comfy to ride while still being quick up and down hill.. even on the bumpy and technical stuff.
already considering buying a new one for me as I can't have my wife on the shinny one!”
“Very very light. Somewhat flexible, but expected. Took a few miles to aquaint myself with the ride. . . Cross country -- with light wheels rolling terrain, no chunky or gnar, great for home trail. Mid state South Carolina”
I Built a full suspension single speed dream with DIY Carbon Bikes! 21 lbs all said and done; Definitely light enough to race. This thing is fast, really fast!! I went 120/110 on my suspension, and I could not be happy to be riding a full squishy.
“Fantastic wheel sets. I bought two sets of carbon wheels. One set with red nipples and the other has blue nipples and decal accents. The red set rolls on DT Swiss 240 hubs and stock hubs on the MTB. Both sets are lightweight, roll well, and the MTB was easy to set up 2bliss.”
“I have put a few hundred miles on this frame and it is solid. I built up this bike to be my gravel/road bike to ride when the trails are wet. The build came to a little under $3k and weighs in at 22.8 lbs with the bottle cages, pedals and SQlab innerbarends. I have taken this on several 25-50 mile road/gravel rides, as well as a few 10-20 mile single track rides. I would not hesitate to buy another frame from this company.”
DIY makes solid products that stand the test of time... I've put the "stache" frame, carbon wheels, and the other components through a ton of abuse (big drops, gaps with more than a few cases) and it remains a solid, light and fun platform. My go-to rig.
Frame and wheels fantastic - super light and good quality which was my main goal.
Went with front suspension - gas with remote lockout switch
Carbon 1 x crank set
Shimano Di2 electronic 11 speed rear derailleur
Shimano hydraulic disk brakes
Carbon integrated handlebar
Carbon seat post
Ceramic bottom bracket
Thanks, Kane (Australia)
Very happy with my purchase! Frame quality is excellent and it's a great fit for my 9-yr old who is on the tall side at 4'-9". As built up, it weighs only 21.4 lbs which is pretty amazing for a front suspension mtb. One thing to keep in mind if you use an older suspension fork is the head tube is really short. Some old RockShox forks have a long steerer tube taper which I overcame simply by adding a $20 crown race spacer by Cane Creek. My only minor nitpick is that the bottle cage bosses are mounted rather high on the down tube which necessitates a side entry cage and only smaller bottles. Otherwise, extremely happy with the purchase and would recommend in a heartbeat!
“Great wheelset! Had earlier sourced a 29" set for my SS build and decided to lighten my 27.5" Anthem. Has lightened the bike by 1kg so a great result!”
I ordered on December/23 and finally received all the parts I ordered in April/24.
- These are My second set of wheels ordered from DIY Carbon Bikes.
- Quality and Style are two words that immediately come to mind.
- Being able to choose your rim design and wheel components is a huge positive for me.
- Thank You!
