Bad service
Top modern airport but very poor service. Airline staff standing in groups talking to each other. They showed no interest in tourists walking by. Service means being welcoming, proactive, helpful, and smiling. I did not experience this at the airport. Another thing that needs to be upgrade quickly is the toilets. There need to be five times more toilets than there are now. I had to stand in line for a long time before one was available. Additionally, the toilets need to be enclosed rooms. There can't be openings at the bottom and top. It doesn't feel comfortable to sit there at all."
Pretentious airport
Pretentious airport, a try hard. Too much focus on trying to look the part.
My experience was very third world, exited the airport down steep old temporary steps tarmac then on to busses. Huge delays with busses being held at many points along the way. Even parked for quite some time behind an aircraft that was starting its engines. Lots of noise and fumes a safety hazard.
I would not recommend Qatar Airways or transiting through Doha to anyone.
Worst airport in the world unorganised…
Worst airport in the world unorganised mess staff that are not interested on helping on there phones ignoring you and cannot understand languges everytime I get lost its bloody nitemare of airport no proper signs ...
Avoid Doha
Stopped here during a transit flight from HCMC to MAN with Qatar airways. Flight was slightly delayed, they parked the aircraft in the middle of nowhere. Used buses to move passengers. Had to go through another security check where they made you empty water bottles. We had no time in the airport as had to report and board our next flight. For two 7 hour flights this is silly, left MAN in so much pain from sitting for so long. Qatar airways via Doha! Never again. What a faff.
Worst in service
It looks amazing and fabulous but worst in services. Most of flights cancelled during my visit and customer services representatives didn’t even bother to deal with passengers properly.the quite rest area is most noisy area. They called, “Award Winning Airline and Airport” but I don’t think so. So disappointed.
Immigration last was abusive
Yesterday, my husband and I travelled from Zanzibar to Qatar. I had a good experience with the check-in and flight until we landed at Doha, Qatar airport. We both showed our passports at immigration. We had a young lady checking our passports and from the onset she was extremely rude. She did not ask me to look at the camera for face recognition, she actually shouted me the instructions twice. I have never been spoken to in this manner in my life. On my husband's turn it was even worse, she was verbally abusing him and even nastier than she was with me. Yelling "look at the camera, look at the camera, move closer, move closer". I never make complaints in any situation, however, this has been the worse experience in my life travelling over 40 counties.
Corrupt government owned airport
Family of 5 with 3 children, pre-booked extra leg room seats and so that we could be together… Our seats were reallocated to a Qatari group as we transited through Doha airport. We ended up with seats spread across the entire length of the aircraft, nowhere near each other, in breach of Civil Aviation Authority recommendations with regards to seat allocation for children. Our 13 year old (who’s afraid of flying) was physically sick with the stress caused, and to us as parents worried that if something happened there was no way we could have taken care of our 3 children. Total lack of interest, no customer care, no customer service, no attempt to improve the situation, then lies and fabrication of reasons when we complained at the gate, onboard and afterwards to their customer care team. First they claimed the aircraft had been changed - total lie, then that our seats were changed for operational reasons - total lie, and then best of all claiming we had missed our flight and had been put on a different plane - total joke. Bribery most likely reason for the Qatari group in our seats. Will never ever use this airport again. You should absolutely avoid this corrupt airport, and do not transit through here. Be warned… they do not care about you, they only care about Qataris who bribe airport staff. PS because we complained, we never got a refund for the extra leg room seats… how low can it get? We’ve now raised a complaint with the Civil Aviation Authority.
Difficult to Navigate, Expensive and No Seating
I couldn't see any flights that avoided an uncomfortable and hot bus ride to/from planes.
I'm not sure that it's even possible to board a plane from an airbridge. We had flights with Qatar Airlines and we had to bus to and from the aircraft. We were travelling on the bus so long when we arrived that I began to think we had arrived at a different airport and were being bussed to Doha International.
I am really staggered that it has won awards. I found it an inconvenient and very uncomfortable place.
Everything is so far away and signage is not good enough. We were trying to get from the arrival gate to the business class lounge as we transferring through Doha and there were no signs. We asked several members of staff who couldn't help us and couple who gave us completely conflicting directions.
There is scarcely any seating at all. You absolutely have to go to a lounge or use one of the restaurants/cafes.
We had been on flights and didn't want to eat so didn't want to be forced to buy food just to get a seat.
There didn't seem to be much in the way of convenience shops either - for a bottle of water, maybe a sandwich etc. You really had to be all in. If you want to go to a Harrods tea room - great. For all those that don't and just want a seat before boarding - you're out of luck.
The range of souvenirs was really rather limited and had nowhere near the range in other airports. I know people have complained that Dubai is too big, but I found it to be a superior airport in every way.
We ended up walking around looking for seats that just weren't there. The few that existed were occupied.
I had booked a lounge for our first transfer through, but because of various delays, didn't get to use it and so I wasn't prepared to book for the return leg in case the same thing happened again.
I went in a few duty free shops, but the prices were far higher than normal retail prices in the UK. No prices were displayed so I was constantly having to ask and then say no thanks! As an example, an Yves Saint Laurent make up product that is £28 full price in the UK was £36 in duty free in the airport. I really didn't expect duty free to be more expensive than full retail price. The price of Harrods items seemed to be more expensive than in the actual London Harrods store too.
I had bought into the idea before going that, because it's just one building, it would be more convenient and easier than having to transfer between terminals. It just wasn't the case. It was really difficult to find where we wanted to go and took an age. Plenty of staff there seemed to struggle with it too, as it was difficult to get directions.
We now plan travel that avoids the need to transfer through this uncomfortable place.
Overcrowded and too small for current volumes
People milling around everywhere. Overcrowded. Holding areas at gates far too small. On past few visits the business lounge was full and access denied : «Come back in two hours » is not very helpful. Qatar Airways boast about the great airport and fabulous business lounge should be updated to reflect the new reality. Last few trips have also involved bus from plane to main building involving a circuitous tour of the airport.
DOHA airport no longer worlds best airport
Their slogan worlds best airport is a joke. Checkin lines are huge. Very long waiting lines. Also when i landed we where put in a bus on the runway. Because there where so many busses getting in the aiport took more then 45 minutes. I forsee big chaos for the World Championship footbal on arriving but also when departing again.
Be on time, atleast 3 hours before departure, and maybe more during world championship.
An awesome airport
Friendly staff, clean airport with very clear signage.
