Had a problem with my Dometic 8400 fridge not working on gas Took it into my Motorhome dealership a few times but still wasn’t working properly got in touch with Dometic and spoke to Gregg my area engineer and though only a few days left on my warranty as good as his word came up to sort the problem now it works as efficient as it’s ever been Thank you to everyone involved Fantastic
Woo they do not mind poor reviews...my camper fridge is orange light syndrome so useless.
When we purchased our Swift Sprite EB 2022, the sales brochure described the new Dometic Series 10 Fridge has an upgrade to its predecessor, since we had the Dometic Series 8 in our last caravan, we were expecting great things.
This was not the case, on appearance this series looks bland, flat, rather dull. All the hype of the double hinge door is a complete waste of time, our Swift could only possibly work with the hinge being on the left hand side, if it was fitted on the right, access would mean stepping into the dining area to access the fridge, besides Swift have fitted the door on this way on this model for years.
Our really disappointment was the Freezer compartment, the aluminium fins at the rear of the box froze, and the all ready frozen ice pops we had put in, the middle ones had started to defrost.
We turned the fridge off, to defrost the freezer box, of course this leads to water running down the back into the fridge. Please remember this is a frost free fridge.
After a phone call to the Dometic help line, (please be aware this help line is not free, I got a £15 charge on my mobile for this service. and after checking all the simple things that could have caused this problem, they then referred me back to my dealer.
The excuse was, when I open the fridge door, warm air gets trapped inside, which causes condensation on the cold areas which leads to water droplets freezing. Some small insulation blocks would seal the freezer box, and stop the condensation. It did not work.
My own theory is the fridge is getting too warm to the rear, the fridge and kitchen unit are well sealed now, so there is no free air passage, other than the fridge vents on the outside,
unfortunately the air does not circulate quickly enough and the temperature rises, this warms the wall Insulation up causing the condensation.
When a fan is added, this helps air movement, so why are Dometic not doing a recall to have this work done? Instead of just adding this to customers that complain about this problem?
Customer service is not helpful, they know there is a problem, and just refer you back to your dealership.
This fault was one of many, including a crack appearing in the panoramic window, which I believe is also made by Dometic. With not been able to give me a “reasonable time” to repair I use the Consumer rights act 2015 on the Dealer, which led to a full refund of our caravan.
This company just doesn't bother replying to any emails either sent directly or via their contact form on their website. Just the usual robot reply acknowledging receipt of the email and that someone will be in touch soon. Yeah right! Now sent a total of 4 emails via their website over the past 6 weeks; no replies!
Terrible customer service, wish I could give them zero stars!
The refrigerator in my RV has been chronically problematic. I learned the expensive way that once the warranty expires you are on your own regardless if the problem is fixed or not. Their customer disservice department is well trained in giving canned responses that basically tell you to go f&$! yourself. Dometic does not stand behind their products.

I'll keep this brief because I've already wasted the past 6 months going back and forth, calling and emailing atleast 8 different people at Dometic UK for a simple repair under warranty. They made the whole process unnecessarily difficult, often didn't reply to emails for three weeks at a time (hence having to call multiple times to find out what was going on). I initially contacted in April, they finally arranged collection on 19th July, had the unit at the warehouse for ~3 months and eventually returned it on 15th October. Customer service was the worst I've experienced and clearly from reading other reviews I'm not alone. If your company is averaging 2*s on TrustPilot then there's clearly a problem. To potential customers - learn from the mistakes of others and avoid Dometic at all costs. You have been warned...
All my camper parts are made by Dometic and everything is falling apart. I have had my camper for 3 summers in Canada so each season we camp under 10 times and have had to replace the circut board, do repairs on the furnace. I received no help from the manufacturer. Would never purchase any of these products or a camper with them moving forward
Dometic Starlight Cooker Part 3
Following my updated review dated 1st April 2022 I was advised to contact customer services again with an assurance that they will look into it.
Initially they seemed to be very interested in the problem and asked me to supply the cooker serial number. As this was not readily available I contacted them again giving details of the serial number on 9th September 2022.
Currently I am still awaiting their reply. I wrote again on 9th October but still no reply.
I have now endured a 3rd year with a cooker which burns with a yellow flame probably emitting carbon monoxide and Dometic have stopped talking to me and no local gas fitters are willing to get involved. Judging by other reviews (with a few exceptions) this seems to be typical of the Dometic standard of service
I’ve owned two RVs and one class C motorhome, all brand new with Dometic refrigerators. Everyone of them sucked! I’ve done dry ice to keep them cool but when it drys up then I’m stuck with a refrigerator that gets up to 60 + degrees. Hate hate hate this brand! I’d rather scrap the refrigerator and go with a good cooler.
By me not being able to connect to them, then stated I didn’t respond and managed to wipe the previous review. I would ask Trustpilot to examine and reopen my previous review. Also when I contacted them recently the staff in Warranty Department were fully aware what they had done in the office. Beware TRUSTPILOT 😜
Spoke to a really helpful guy called Doug at Dometic explained the problem he took me through several steps and the problem was solved - can't speak highly enough of service provided

If I could give this company 0 I would have done.
Customer service zero. Had a problem with a fridge on my brand new caravan. Could not find a phone number anywhere which tells you something. Filled out the online form. Got standard acknowledgment. No further contact. Did it again. Same happened.
Crap company and crap fridges!!!

I encountered the customer service and was highly suprised. The warranty of the product had lapsed, but even then Dometic sent the replacement part which I easily replaced. I didn't need to hassle or argue with the service, they were ultimately solution oriented, which I highly appreciate.
I received exemplary service from two Dometic representatives for a faulty toilet in my RV. I was told to buy a replacement from Camping World and send the receipt into Dometic to receive a $200 credit. I did exactly what I was told and was then informed that I would receive $176. LIES!!!! I was told $200. I expect $200. Instead I get LIES!!! Shame on Dometic. Their word is obviously not worth a can of the foul liquid that dumped from my old toilet when I replaced it. It stunk! So does Dometic.
Bought a Domestic CFX35 with PLB40 battery. The PLB40 beeps continuously in error when temporarily disconnected from a power source (eg using a solar panel and the sun goes behind clouds for a few minutes!). You need to disconnect the whole thing and reconnect it which is extremely annoying. Dometic know about the issue but haven't fixed it in their products. They have a software patch that apparently fixes the issue. Contacted customer service in July to get the patch. It is now the end of September and I still don't have a solution and Dometic has simply stopped responding. This is a disgustingly poor level of service for the amount you pay for their very expensive products. Had thought the Dometic brand meant good products but I would have been better off buying a much cheaper brand. The fuse for the battery also had a fault and managed to burn out the wiring in our car. I will not be buying Dometic again.

We have tried to get in touch with a Dometic service center in the UK to service our Dometic kitchen in our campervan. Gas is leaking below the kitchen itself and the whole thing has started rattling. We ate about to just give up trying to get any support from Dometic - and just throw the whole thing out - and replace it by a QUALITY MADE - and then NEVER DOMETIV AGAIN. It is just poor quality.

Won’t Honour Warranty Claims
I’ve owned caravans for over 40 years and never had the clear plastic in a rooflight or window, display cracks of any sort. My latest caravan has Dometic rooflights and at about 18 months I noticed a series of small cracks in the inner layer of the double glazing at the front corner of one skylight. As it was the inner layer it couldn’t leak, so I left it until the 2-year service to show the dealer.
The dealer was quite definite it was caused by a manufacturing defect and submitted a warranty claim to Dometic, supported by photographs. This was rejected on the basis that it was damage, most likely caused by contact with harsh chemicals. The dealer argued the case but Dometic wouldn’t budge.
I informed the dealer that the caravan is cleaned with zipwax and the glazing cleaned with Autoglym Fast Glass, which is suitable for all plastic glazing. They went back to Dometic who refused to reopen the claim, now saying it could have been caused by contact with chemicals from an air freshener or a fly spray etc. Quote - “ We have extensive training and experience on how to identify damage and the differences between these and defects”.
It appears to me that Dometic’s training must mainly consist of making up reasons to reject as many warranty claims as possible. Hopeless customer care department.
Unfortunately, when buying a caravan, we have no choice about who makes the parts it is fitted with. However, I will certainly not be buying anything made by Dometic in the future as their Warranty appears to be an absolute joke.
I cannot recommend this company enough, my motorhome was fitted with a air conditioning unit when purchased new. We reported a fault on it shortly after, it was quickly attended to by a very competent and professional engineer, local to our region (Greg), as he attempted to fix the fault he noticed that our unit was not big enough to cope with the size of our van and suggested that as the unit had to be replaced we should go for the larger one to be on top of the job. I attended there service department at Tewkesbury where we were made to feel welcome and the change over took place with minimum fuss and delay. Andy, the technician that dealt with us couldn’t do enough for us. The whole situation was handled very professionally. I would highly recommend Dometic and would purchase any of their products with confidence in the future
Thanks again Greg, Andy and all who served us so well at Dometic.
Worst customer support ever. I’m building an RV from scratch and wanted to buy a huge list of equipment from their website. Called their 18005444881 explained what I need to buy to 4 different specialists, every time they dropped me to a general menu, then I’ve waited for about 25 minutes with a robot saying “your queue is 1st” with no response.
Decided not to buy anything from them. Went with a different manufacturer and so happy about it.

I brought a Dometic Starlight cooker about 3 years ago and initially it was ok but after a few short duration cooking sessions it started to burn with a yellow flame on the rings. When lit it burns ok for a few mins and then the flame turns yellow and covers the cooking pots with soot.
I have :
dismantled and cleaned the burners and jets.
Changed the gas bottle
Fitted a new gas regulator
All to no avail.
I email Dometic Customer Sevices for advice and received a quick reply that ‘The Team’ would be looking into it ASAP and they would then get back to me.
Almost 3 months later I have heard nothing more from them - so I have a cooker costing almost £900 which is in a dangerous condition due carbon monoxide fumes and the manufacturer is unable to offer any advice.
I have tried to find a professional gas fitter to rectify the fault but when I explain the type cooker they will not work on it because Dometic cookers are held together with rivets which means they difficult to dismantle.
As requested by Dometic in their response to my review I once again wrote to ‘the team’ at customer services but unfortunately they did not look into my problem I just got an automatic reply saying they were very busy and would look into my problem at some undisclosed future date. I won’t hold my breath.
This is very poor service when considering that the cooker retails at around £1000. And the fault described indicates that it is producing carbon monoxide fumes.
