Absolutely amazing people. Totally recommend Dovecote.

My chihuahua was referred to Dovecote Veterinary referral hospital to see a specialist dermatologist. I have absolutely nothing but praise for all the people I met that worked there. The receptionists were so friendly and supportive. They acknowledged myself and Pixie. They are literally the friendliest vet receptionists I have ever met. Believe me I have met a lot as Pixie has visited lots of vets with her ongoing health needs. As soon as I walked through the door they instantly acknowledged Pixie fussing her etc. I was made to feel instantly reassured. It’s daunting walking into a new veterinary practice for the first time. Every one of them were so friendly and happy.
Charlotte who Pixie was referred to was just the nicest person that was so brilliant with Pixie. Charlotte took an extensive history and various slides. Pixie was in a poor way with her allergies on that first meeting. Her ear was completely swollen to the extent she couldn’t see her ear drum. Her paws were discoloured and sore due to her constant licking. Charlotte took various slides and prescribed various topical, oral and wipes due to her findings. Two weeks later we went back for a follow up. Pixie was a different dog. I can’t believe the change in her in two weeks. Her ear is looking so much better. Her paws are almost back to white and all her itching, scratching and licking has stopped. She is now titrating down on her medication and is doing really well. For three and a half years I have been trying to find a solution to her constant itching and in two weeks she is the most comfortable I have seen her. I can’t thank everyone at Dovecote for making Pixie the most comfortable she has been. I feel I have a happy dog back that can enjoy the rest of her life.

dont use these money grabbers

dont use these money grabbers, they have put CCJ on my report after ive already paid them over £5,000. They think its acceptable to take people to court after they have lost thier dog, over a few hundred quid, this is the people you are dealing with here, they do not care about your pet they only car how the bill is being paid

Dachshund not Datsun

Being a Dachshund owner for many years it’s disappointing to hear anyone say the name wrong. Dovecote dogs reels on fb pronounce the name as Datsun and although I have tried to correct him and get him to say it as Dash-hound he has told me to go to school.
Glad there in UK and not Aus
I’ve blocked him and Dovecote dogs

Wow, These vets are amazing and are worth their weight in gold. They gave 100% and basically saved my little furbabies life. I cannot thank them enough. Their very knowledgeable, explained everything and made us feel so welcome. Word of mouth goes a long way and I will praise them forever ❤️ Thank you, from Winnies mum & Dad xx

Poor experience

We got referred by our vets (Star Vets, who are wonderful) to take our dog to Dovecote Vet Hospital and arrived at 7:10pm which was within a very short time of him having had an emergency operation. We stood outside (raining) trying to get someone to open the door. 10 minutes later we were greeted by Kate who said she had no idea about us arriving and stated she had only recently started her shift, and to take a seat. 30 minutes later of waiting and being the only people in the reception and hearing laughing and chatter in the background, and with the reception phone ringing continually, I decided to call the office number to remind somebody that we were in the building. The lady who answered said the vet was doing a handover and will be out when he has finished. I am aware that staff are probably well weathered to dealing with sick animals, however for us we found ourselves quite upset at the time as this is not a day to day event for us and were desperate to get our little dog settled on an IV. It's a very stressful experience just sitting there as your dog is clearly suffering and no member of staff is visible, to the point where we nearly changed our mind and left. On collection the following day there was a completely different experience. The staff were friendly and welcoming as expected. It was very disappointing and when you are paying £500+ for an overnight stay for your precious family member you would hope to experience a welcoming, empathetic and caring member of staff who immediately makes you feel at ease.

Veronica Goddard and Whisper - 10 years of pain

THIS IS AN ANCIENT REVIEW; IT'S ONLY NOW THAT I FEEL ABLE TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE.
In 2013, my rescued Shih-tzu, Whisper (named because he whispered to my soul) when running over the road outside home, misjudged his jump up the kerb and crashed down on his ribcage. He was in some discomfort, so I took him to our local, regular vet. He was prescribed a special diet, as the vet thought it was his liver at risk, but after a few days of treatment with regular visits to the vet, he showed no improvement - in fact he worsened and he was referred by our vet to Dovecote for X-rays and assessment, requiring an overnight stay. I rang the following day for a report and was told he would need to stay in for a few days. I wasn't told that I could visit him, but I rang everyday. On the 3rd day, I spoke to a receptionist and begged to see him. She told me that of course I could visit, that the vet should have made that clear. When I saw him with his head turned to the corner of his 'cage', pining for me, it broke my heart. As soon as he heard my voice he perked up and I cuddled him until it was closing time. Each day I drove to visit him, distance no object. The head vet saw me on the 5th day and said I could take him home, but said with contempt and ultimate cruelty, that he wouldn't last the week! There had never been any hope of recovery, he had been kept there on purpose to deny me his last days. I firmly believe that he thought I had deliberately hurt him, My Wizzy was the love of my life and to this day I mourn him. I would NEVER recommend this practice.
