A friend of mine has an old Dremel…
A friend of mine has an old Dremel rotary grinder which has never let him down . I was considering purchasing one but after reading all the One Star reviews I will definitely be avoiding Dremel . Thank you everyone who have bothered to write in with your negative experiences .
Dremel 4250 mains rotary tool
Dremel 4250 mains rotary tool. I’m now on my third machine since Feb this year. First one lasted until April then just stopped working. Refunded after tooing and froing with Amazon.
Second one from Start of May until mid-July. Just been replaced through Screwfix - great service from them, no quibbling.
Hoping for the best with this one. None were heavily used. It’s a shame as Dremel was a byword for quality.
Do not buy the dremel 3000.
Do not buy the dremel 3000.
Now just binned my 4th one .
Same wire that goes to the 4 connection points.
Hardly used mine only 3 months old absolute waste of time to send it away.
Really hope Bosch will end production of this useless piece of ????
Poor quality product
Brought a Dremel 3000 from Screwfix did one job and then went to use it again just over a year later and it would not work.phone Bosch to try to get it repaired. They said it wasn’t worth it and best buy another. Would never buy another Dremel as really poor quality
Dremmel - Don't waste your money
I purchased a Dremmel 4000, the motor burned out just before the warranty period ended. It had hardly been used and was quickly replaced by Bosch Service Centre. The replacement, has just done the same thing. Again it had hardly been used, but sadly, this time outside warranty. In my view a really poor product, not fit for purpose.
I am done with dremel
I am done with dremel. Waste of money and time. Never again dremel x 3…Done, Ed
Edit-I did not know dremel was part of bosch…I own a bosch jigsaw and drilll…they are both very poor tools. Never again. In the UK, all of my contractor Friends use DeWalt, Milwaukee, Festool, Makita…Bosch = Hard No.
Now on my THIRD 4250 drill and again…
Now on my THIRD 4250 drill and again it's starting to badly stutter. Only an hour or so use if that !, tried my best to keep dust out of the vents too. It's clearly very poor quality and to be avoided.
Very poor company
Very poor company from what it used to be. Been using these for 10years plus and now the newer models don't last 5 minutes (32day the last one lasted) won't take any of there old units back without hassel and just hang up the phone on you. Very annoying and unfortunate
Dremel 3000 is an absolute rubbish
Dremel 3000 is an absolute rubbish. The first time it last 15 mins and i was even putting pressure on it when cutting PVC sheet. If it cant cut even a feet of PVC, and you claim it can even cut metal??? Come on! The shop owner said i should have let it have some breaks between cuts which i did and put at speed 9 when cutting which i later did. Next, i did just that after repairs and it it lasted less than an hour before dying. You know what? Keep the warranty. I can keep returning to the shop for all of this. I went and bought a die grinder from Ingcoa and been having an absolute blast with the beast. Even my cheap hand drill fitted with a dremel wheel cutter can do a better job of cutting with no risk of dying out. Dremel deserve a true boycott, they just hide behind their brand. Buying other brands is better because you know they will work better than this POS. Dremel, never again.
Just cheap made
Dremel 4000 got hot and stopped after use and had it replaced. The replacement has done the same. Work was light and should not have been a problem. Tried to contact Dremel and it was no good.
Complete garbage
The dremal digilab 3d45 stopped working completely after around 450 prints which is terrible for a 2 THOUSAND dollar printer. Don’t buy there junk, they’ll just convince you too buy a bunch of replacement parts for their junk printers. They tried too sell me a gear for 25$ and a motor assembly for 70$ absurd pricing for a printer you already have to spend thousands on just to obtain. Now I’m stuck with a broken printer and nobody too help me fix it because nobody sells replacements for driver boards and motherboards for reasonable prices.
DON'T BUY DREMEL RUBBISH
Purchased Dremel 8220 multitool kit in May 2021, have used the tool just three times and the unit has failed. It is now just out of two year warranty and am told a repair would be more than a new unit - what a piece of rubbish - DON'T BUY DREMEL
Dremel 3000
Dremel 3000. Failed after first use. Checked the internet for know issues and came across the broken armature wire issue. Sure enough, that was the problem. I managed to fix it, but looking at how those connections are made I know it is only a matter of time before it or one of the other 3 fail again in the same way. An appalling piece of design.
Junk junk
Junk junk! First couldn't get the bit to come out so sent it back and looks like they pressed the blue button down with channel locks and got it out then they kept my bit and sent the same piece of crap back. Now have the same problem again. Also the sanding bits work for 30 seconds and fly off. This is a Mickey mouse tool junk
don't pay for the name
I have brought Dremel multi tools for a long time. my old 3000 I have had for about 5 years, But my other 3 the 8220,the 4250,the other cant remember the number have all burnt out the latest today, I will no longer pay for a name going to buy a cheap whatever Dremel never again
The Dremel brand is a reliable, high-quality brand.
The Dremel brand is a reliable, high-quality brand. I have many Dremel tools and I have had them for years without a problem.
Dremel 3000 died
Dremel 3000. Whilst I've owned it for a couple of years I've only used it 4 or 5 times. Great for cutting window blind metal bars down. But then on the last use for just seconds it died. It clearly isn't able to last. Disappointed
Is Model 8260 Worth the $170 Price
This week, I bought a brand new Model 8260 Dremel, expecting an advancement in performance and/or technology, due to the $170 price. Terrible disappointment! This tool is no better than my old 800 and 8200, except for clever speed control with LED indicators. The 8260 is practically 100% covered with that soft polymer stuff that can turn disgustingly sticky in a few years.
The new 8260 is probably as good a tool as older Dremel models, but it is absolutely no advancement, so why the excessive price?? And whose silly idea was this Bluetooth app when the tool itself displays all the needed information?
Dremel/Bosch didn't bother either to tell buyers that the 8260 (and 8200) batteries are interchangeable (for the charger only) with certain Bosch 12 volt batteries, making it handy to keep a single charger for certain Bosch and Dremel tools.
My experience with Dremels: First one owned in 1949; have always had at least one Dremel on my bench ever since; now have five (5) different models on my bench, 800, 8050, 8200, 8260, and only one corded model, 395 type 5. Not one of my Dremels has ever failed me! Hardly a day passes when I do not put one or more to use.
Let this one stay on the shelf: dust off your old 8220, or buy a new one for 60% of the price of an 8960. Absolutely just as good! Minor advantages of brushlessness and resulting longer battery life are not that important!

Dont buy one they are cheap crap
Dont buy one they are cheap crap, the charging port that takes an Android cord broke off of the circuit board and now I can't charge it, so basically it's useless made in China junk... Why does America even buy anything from this country when they obviously don't care about anything they make? Drexel is garbage..
Warranty Work order
I got my 4300 Dremel on 03/02/22. On 03/28/22 I was wallowing out a bolt hole on a bicycle motor mount when my bit jumped back against the metal mount, breaking the chuck and metal shaft off past the threads to the neck. I own 4 different Dremels at the moment. 2 corded tools (mdl# 2001&4300 9/64) and 2 cordless tools😭 (mdl#8220& "old faithful" mdl#800.) 12 yrs and a half dozen dremel tools later, I've never had to make a warranty claim. I know from experience that Dremel brand tools are quality made and will last for years with proper maintenance. So this must have been one in a million. However I put off calling the service number because well.. I mean absolutely no disrespect to anyone as I write this but if I'm being honest, no one wants to have a conversation with a robot to get a tool repaired, or to be put on an infinite hold when you get too aggravated with said robot, only to speak to an agent who has an accent so thick that you wish the robot was back on the line just to translate. This is my typical experience with customer service lines. I was very pleasantly surprised when a live, perfectly understandable, polite young lady answered my call without me having to hold at all. I figured I was going to have to jump through a hoop or 2 to get my guarantee honered. I was wrong. The entire process couldn't have been any easier unless the process wasn't necessary in the first place. It was as simple as making a call that only lasted 3 mins to give my first and last name and an email where instructions on how and where to send the dremel in for service could be received. I already knew I was a raging lunatic for the Dremel brand. All this experience did was encapsulate why. The lady agent said the Dremel would have around a 14 day turnaround so it will probably take a longer time to send off and receive back than I've actually owned the Dremel for but I will post an update once everything is completely finished and the case is closed.
