Malaga Drivalia
Malaga experience. We arrived at the courtesy bus stop at 9.45am 15th April a bus was just pulling away - and they said it would be back in 15 mins. 20 mins later the bus pulled up further down the access road and a lot of people surged towards it - by the time we got there - there was no space. Not prepared for another humiliating experience we returned to the airport and got a taxi for 20e. Arrived at the office and joined a long queue . eventually picked the car up and on our war at 11.30am. This is the longest car hire pick up I have experience in my many years of hiring cars all around the world. The car was OK, clean and no problem. We returned it a day early as we wanted to allow time at the airport for passport control etc. The unsmiling guy inspected the car and found a tiny paint scratch under the bumper and immediately came up with the figure of 348euros and debited my card.- we could have polished out the scratch if we had noticed - we did not do this and might have missed it at pick up despite taking photos He also tried to claim a scuff mark on a wheel trim but fortunately it was noticed on pick up.. BE AWARE 1) YOU WILL NEED VERY CLOSE INSPECTION OF CAR 2) ADVISE TO GET A TAXI TO THE OFFICE 3) IF ROAD ASSISTTANCE IS REQUIRED THEY CHARGE A MINIMUM OF 280 EUROS. 4) PLEASE READ OTHER REVIEWS ! I booked through Zest car hire and had full insurance and am currently claiming reimbursement but would have preferred no hassle! I would not go through this experience again. I do not expect Drivalia to reply and if they did it would be usual ' busy period, only one bus etc'

Dont book with Drivalia Alicante
Have used Drivalia for years, they were always honest and a great company to deal with.
That has changed, the hard sale of the insurance is terrible.
On my last two hire damage has been found which is impossible to justify when the cars come with so many marks and poor light conditions make it impossible at night to find every mark.
Let me be clear I think they now scam anyone who does not take out there own insurance.
Avoid like the plague.
Its a shame a once decent car hire company has joined the likes of Goldcar.
I wont use again at any price it isnt worth the hassle.

Having been let down by another…
Having been let down by another company, I stumbled across Drivalia and I’m very glad I did. Booking was quick and straightforward, the price was excellent, and the airport collection process was smooth and well organised.
There was a bit of a wait to reach the desk, but this was largely due to other customers being unprepared rather than any fault of the staff. Once I reached the counter, everything moved efficiently and I was on the road within 15 minutes.
The return process was just as easy, and my deposit was refunded promptly without any issues.
It’s refreshing to come across a company that delivers exactly what it promises. I’ll definitely be using Drivalia again and would happily recommend them.

Do not use Dravilia Alicante airport.I was absolutely ripped off.
The service was awful they try to make you pay for almost invisible marks that can only be seen very close up in good light.
The car I was given had 17 known large scratches and dents then they found a small scuff mark on return which I sure they knew was already there, then they made me pay for it saying you’ll be fine because the insurance will cover it.It stinks I’m sure it’s a con for making extra money from the insurance. Please be warned

I have used drivalia every time I travel to Spain. And on every occasion the service has been excellent from pickup at the airport to collection of a vehicle and the return of the vehicle.
I have never been let down once.
I have tried other rental companies and have nothing put problems.
I will always use drivalia

Booked a 7 seater with this company
Booked a 7 seater with this company, Left stranded at Alicant airport with baby and two kids..no one at all to pick us up, phoned and phoned for the next hour but no answer, ended up getting two taxis home..next day got a taxi back to get car apparently it wasnt available anymore, three working hours later even thought we booked it for two weeks but they were good enough to let us have a smaller car for another £500 but no refund as the said we wernt there.(why would we not be there).if you hire from this company be it on your own head just a massive scam. wish we had read the reviews first..

Very professional and friendly service…
Very professional and friendly service and the person carefully checked the car on our return and confirmed everything was fine. The Drivalia office is just a 5 minute flat walk from the terminal and then it is easy to drive onto the main road without going round the multi-storey car park.

DRIVALIA CAR HIRE ALICANTE AIRPORT
DRIVALIA CAR HIRE ALICANTE AIRPORT – 07/01/2026 to 18/01/2026 - After hiring from them for four years with no incident what so ever, this time in January 2026 the arsy returns rep was determined to find car damage but every time he thought there was a new scratch we showed him the pick up photos that clearly showed previous & unrecorded damage.
At the third attempt he then pointed to a scratch on the rear bumper that we could not see without a high intensity lamp shining 50mm away from the area stated that was like a thorn mark & only in the outer clear lacquer. Realistically it was impossible to see in normal daylight. He already knew this faint scratch was there as you could only see it when bending down with a lamp 50mm away & he pointed to it standing up - an absolute con-man.
I disputed this as actual & new true paint damage but he insisted it was chargeable & decided to take 313 euros from our card.
The fact they we had already been with them for five years & would continue with them as loyal customers going forward meant nothing to him. He was determined to make up some money due to our very low car hire price in the low season & he didn’t care that he would now be losing loyal customer repeat revenue. I wonder how the larger Drivalia Group or CEO feel about this attempt of deception from the operative concerned. Perhaps they should investigate.
Fortunately I disputed the charge via my credit card company that was refunded in full after a two week wait.
Here is what I think...
1 - Because we have never purchased the scam extra & excessive insurance from them we are happy with the deposit method knowing that we always take great care of all our car hires. They therefore deliberately gave us a bait car that was so badly damaged all over it was impossible for them to list everything & they knew this.
2 - The reason why this scam charge didn't work is because I did the following at the time of return:-
A - I did not sign their damage form as they tried to insist I did but I did write on it that I disputed this as new damage or as a legitimate claim.
B - I took photographs of the car & of the bumper area showing the number plate on pick up & at the return time.
C - I then wrote a statement of case including photographs on a word document that was sent to my credit card company as part of the evidence.
SO THE WARNING IS CLEAR:- Avoid this company now no matter how low their car hire rates are. Refuse to have their bait car registration number 9127 LMV. They simply cannot be trusted to act fairly & with any honesty.
If you are ever the victim of this type of fake damage claim ALWAYS record the events, take photos of the car & all documents, obtain the reps name, don’t sign for anything, clearly write on any damage form presented that you dispute this as real tangible new damage & then request a refund for a fraudulent or disputed charge from the credit card company immediately when you get home.
By the way, in over 25 years of hiring cars at Alicante Airport in Spain 4 to 8 times a year we have never purchased the extra extortionate extra cost insurance that they always pressurise us to have using fear tactics. This is our first time ever of a car hire company trying to roll us for extra cash. Are we just lucky or is it because we take precautions & care of the car we hire no matter what its condition?

Terrible service
Terrible service. I forgot why I stopped using Drivalia. Presented my credit card with plenty of credit available to the 1 man who seemed able to process anything working at the counter to be told my credit card had not been accepted. Having contacted my credit card company since then no transaction was attempted. If I had been in Spain for longer I would have cancelled the booking and hired from an alternative company, I ended up having to take out their insurance or they would not rent me the car. Having now read more reviews this seems to be a pattern with this company.

Friendly efficient staff at Girona…
Friendly efficient staff at Girona Airport Drivalia. We were swiftly allocated an brand new car and had the rental options and important details highlighted to us for consideration of options and pricing. We had equally swift helpful return visit and no issues on checkover.

Worst rental car company ever
We hired a car from Girona airoport, and after returning it, we were charged for damages to the rear bumber after being provided with a small photo, that didn't include the car number, also in that area were damages that were mentioned in the contract from before we picked it up. Also we arrived to pick up the car an hour early and when we asked if it was possible to take the car earlier, we were told that it would cost us an additional insurance of 150 euros. I want to specify that I am a disabled person and we had a 7-month-old baby with us. In other words, lack of humanity and understanding. Because we had a plane at 6, we left the car at 4 in the morning and this meant that there was no staff to check the car upon return. Hence the fact that they took 530 euros for a false claim that it was a new scratch on the car, given that we rented a car with 13 body defects documented and I also found about 5 more

SCAM
SCAM - don't use them. I used Drivalia at Alicante Airport because they offered the cheapest prices online, but they then use heavy sales tactics when you pick up the vehicle insisting you have to purchase extra insurance at high prices. If you don't buy the extra insurance they will find a fault when you return the vehicle. Tiny scratch underneath the bumper which was probably there when I picked up the vehicle was enough of an excuse for them to charge me over 300 euros. DON'T USE THEM....they are a SCAM.

No flexibility.......
We arrived at Drivalia Alicante Airport, early. For a change all was on time or earlier. Fantastic!! Until we asked for our car, it's 16.33 and our car is booked for 17.30. I was told I'm early and for insurance reasons I cannot have the car any earlier. The office is empty except for me and my wife. The manager was very firm. Not a great experience. All other car rental companies I use are flexible and helpful. Be careful with Drivalia. Also the fact it is not at the airport but drive away isn't brilliant either. Treated very poorly. Don't recommend....

Rented a car from Drivalia…
Rented a car from Drivalia (Alicante/Elche airport) many times, and it has always worked perfect.
Easy to pickup the car, always clean and in good condition, and the return process is great, where the car is inspected at once.
Can only recommend Drivalia.

Avoid at all costs.
Avoid at all costs.
I booked through a third party, which clearly stated: “You have booked an out of hours pickup - Drivalia know to remain open for your arrival.”
I also provided my flight details at the time of booking, so it was clear when I would be arriving. When my flight was delayed, I did everything possible to contact the branch. I sent over 10 emails marked as urgent and repeatedly tried calling, but the phone line just plays an automated message in Spanish for around five minutes before cutting off, with no option to speak to anyone.
Despite all of this, when I arrived late at night at Alicante Airport, the office was closed with no support available.
I returned the next day when the office reopened, only to be told that my car was no longer available and the booking had effectively been lost. I was then told I could book another car, but it was a worse vehicle for over €500 more.
I have now paid £300 for a car I do not have, all because of their poor communication.
The lack of communication, the inability to contact anyone, and the failure to honour the booking terms is completely unacceptable. There is no support when you actually need it, and no accountability for what went wrong.

Fraudsters - do not go anywhere near them
Do not touch this company. They are fraudsters. Similar experience to everyone but I got in touch with my credit card company and they finally returned the total amount drivalia had stolen. Do not give up - that is what drivalia are playing on. If you rented the car in britain contact BVRLA and the ADR (I went direct through my bank so they were not able to help me until there was a resolution. They told me to go back to them if the bank was unable to resolve the issue). Drivalia have no intention of reaching an agreement with you they are playing for time and trying to wear you out. But you do need to register your complaints with drivalia - this is required by the bank and claims teams helping you. Good luck, don't give up.

We have booked Car Ryanair
We have booked Car Ryanair , we paid full insurence through the Ryanair, but when we arrive in Malaga, try to collect a car they ask us to pay deposit £2000 because we don’t have insurance, but we agreed to pay again full insurance as we’ve been advised by them so no require to put down deposit if we pay £270.
Anyway we didn’t have a chance we pay £270 to get full insurance in order not pay £2000 deposit however when we drop a car at three in the morning there was shutbus to take you to airport and customer service is closed at that time, the worst things or experience when you arrive back home and you check your bank account they’re already take another £120 for the fuel which is already fuel was full, please be careful. Do not leave your bank details. They will take your money without your concern. They are rapper of the worst company ever to do. Please do not book a call with them at all.

Don't pay the extra
When we finally found where we had to go after asking 7 different people, we waited 10 minutes, a mini bus arrived while I was putting our suitcases in the back 2 of my friends got seats, when the bags where on the bus we went to sit down no seats available, told to wait on next bus. Next bus wasn't going to take us as we didn't have our cases, finally give in. Ripped off, they told me I had to pay 181.61 euros even though I'd paid through my airline company. Wouldn't give me the car until I paid which after 20 minutes of arguing I decided to pay, as I needed a car to get where we were going and the girls weren't really happy. Rang Jet2 and told that I shouldn't of signed as now they couldn't do anything. Feel let down by this company and Jet2
