Valid booking, but car was refused at the counter
I booked a car via CHECK24 with Drivalia (through AurumCars) at Bergamo Airport and paid part of the rental price in advance.
At the counter, the vehicle was refused. First, I was told that my debit card (Revolut) was not accepted. When I mentioned that I could possibly arrange another card, I was then informed that my driving license was allegedly not accepted.
My driving license is valid, complies with the Vienna Convention and contains all relevant details in Latin characters. Nevertheless, the vehicle handover was definitively refused.
What was particularly disappointing was the behavior of the staff on site. There was no attempt to find a solution, explain alternatives, or offer any assistance. The communication was very short, unhelpful, and not customer-oriented — I was simply told that the documents “do not fit”, without any proper explanation.
I would like to clearly point out that I have rented cars multiple times in the past using the same driving license without any issues, including within the EU.
Moreover, on the same day and at the same airport, I was able to rent a replacement car from another rental company using exactly the same driving license, without any problems or questions.
As a result, I was left without a car shortly before the holidays and had no choice but to rent an alternative vehicle at a significantly higher price.
The rental requirements were not clearly or transparently stated in the voucher, and the follow-up communication was extremely slow (responses only after several days). In the end, the case was closed without a fair or reasonable solution.
I do not recommend Drivalia / AurumCars. There is a high risk of being left without a car despite having a valid booking, payment, and proper documents.

Poor Management and Lack of Support with Electric Vehicle Rental
Unfortunately, I had a very unsatisfactory experience. I rented an electric car, and it was delivered with insufficient battery charge. Additionally, the charging cable was left at the airport parking lot, as I was not informed that I needed to take it with me.
By the time I arrived at my destination city, the battery level was already very low, and without the charging cable, the situation became extremely difficult. I had to look for commercial establishments willing to let me charge the car using regular electrical outlets, which took approximately three hours to charge only 26 km of range. I was close to being stranded on the road at night several times, with no support, while the battery was running out.
When I contacted Drivalia, I was informed that I would need to return to the airport to retrieve the charging cable. The journey back was extremely stressful, with constant anxiety that the battery could run out at any moment. Even when I managed to fully charge the car, the battery drained very quickly and did not hold enough charge.
Upon arriving at the airport, the staff informed me that the car could be charged there; however, the dashboard indicated that a full charge would take approximately six hours. After extensive discussions with the attendants, I requested to change the vehicle to a gasoline car. I was then informed that I would be charged €54 for the full electric charge upon returning the vehicle.
It is important to note that I had already spent €55 prior to returning to the airport in order to charge the vehicle to full capacity. In other words, the €55 spent on charging was entirely consumed just to reach the airport, and since the battery was nearly empty upon arrival, I was required to pay an additional €54 before returning the car.
This rental caused numerous inconveniences and unexpected expenses during my vacation—costs that were not anticipated in my travel budget. This experience has left me extremely reluctant to rent electric vehicles in the future. Moreover, the way Drivalia handled the situation further increased my frustration, as the repeated trips back and forth to Milan Airport resulted in me missing a very important event and prevented me from enjoying my vacation as originally planned.

Wrong address and zip code caused tickets with late fees
I travelled to Italy with my family in 2024. In the city of Cremona I got two tickets within about 20 minutes. I am not disputing the tickets but people working for Drivalia apparently entered my address and zip code wrong. They used my drivers license for the information. The first I heard about one of the tickets was a phone call from a collection agency in the US almost two years later. Each ticket was increased to around $360 with late fees. The total car rental cost less than each of the tickets. I'll be avoiding Italy and Drivalia in the future

very bad behavior to cheat the insurance...
Easy picking up the car with a pre booking procedure. At the drop off there wasn't any personnel at the office but there was a key drop box so I did left the key there and runned to the check in. Before taking off i learned by an email that after checking the car they charged 150 euros for some scratches. Since i was having a full insurance coverage i didn't care much about, but actually there wasn't any damages and I found it a very bad behavior to cheat the insurance...
Avoid Drivalia
Avoid Drivalia Bolzano, terrible service as most other people have said. I booked a car for a 6pm Saturday pickup, but when I arrived the office was closed (and closed all Sunday) despite them accepting the booking. They later claimed they’d called me — they hadn’t, it was a lie. Emergency number was useless. On Monday they tried to charge me again as a “no-show”, then double-charged me and took a €500 deposit. Two weeks later I’m still waiting for a refund. Rude, aggressive staff and zero accountability.

No car, no refund - bank dispute required
The vehicle was NOT delivered.
I arrived at the rental station, but Drivalia refused to provide the car due to their credit card policy.
The station rejected the payment method and did not accept a digital card, despite the booking being fully prepaid.
As a result, no vehicle was handed over.
Despite this, the full amount (€612.43) was charged and kept.
I was given an internal refusal document by the station confirming that the vehicle was not delivered due to the payment card issue.
Nevertheless, Drivalia refused to refund the money voluntarily.
Customer support was effectively unreachable - emails returned server errors and no resolution was offered.
The refund was obtained ONLY after opening a formal bank dispute (chargeback).
Drivalia actively contested the dispute instead of resolving the issue with the customer.
The case had to be escalated by the bank.
The dispute was ultimately decided in my favor, and the money was refunded by the bank - not by Drivalia.
Special thanks to Revolut for properly handling the dispute and protecting the customer.
Without the bank’s intervention, the money would not have been returned.
This experience shows that even when no service is provided, Drivalia may keep your money unless you are ready to fight for it through your bank.

1 star for Venice Drivalia, 5 star for Forlì
1 star for Venice Drivalia, 5 star for Drivalia Forlì but Venice was the main point of contact so it lowers the score.
Booked a car online for 15 days and communicated I was going to travel across freeways and the north so to ensure I would get all seasons tyres and chains. I also called beforehand to reiterate I my request and was told they would check upon arrival.
Was given chains upon arrival and left letting them know I was going to travel a lot around the north of Italy.
On 6/1/26 (public holiday) it snowed heavily and realised the car was equipped with summer tyres. Upon trying to install snow chains, I found out I was given the wrong size chains and i was therefore stuck, unable to drive anywhere. I called Venice Drivalia and they told me to go buy new chains, unfortunately it was public holiday and the only places open selling the right chains were along the freeway, which I had no way to reach. They told me they couldn’t do anything, I was unable to go anywhere and lost my booking for that night in Tuscany, which they did not refund. The following, when conditions allowed for my car, I drove to Forlì and requested to swap car with a winter equipped one. Maurizio was amazing, he apologised and provided me with a proper equipped car quickly so we were able to continue our journey safely.
Venezia = disappointing
Forlì = great
Rome (return) = all good

THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD WITH A CAR COMPANY
I am a Drivalia CarCloud subscriber and this has been an extremely frustrating and dysfunctional experience.
Despite having a CarCloud subscription that explicitly allows vehicle swaps, I have had multiple confirmed reservations where I arrived at the airport to pick up the replacement car—only to be told that no car was available. These were not tentative requests; they were confirmed reservations. Each time, this resulted in wasted trips to the airport, hours of lost time, and in some cases leaving us without a working vehicle at all.
There has been no improvement or correction to this process. A “confirmed” reservation appears to mean nothing. The only way to avoid another wasted trip is to repeatedly email or chase the local office in advance—who often do not respond and rarely answer the phone—just to confirm that a car actually exists.
On top of this, I have been overbilled for months. I subscribed at €749/month for an MG Hybrid SUV, but since June 11, 2025, I have not had the MG at all. I have been given several lower-tier replacement vehicles (Omoda 5, Tonale briefly, DR6 briefly, and now a Kia Sportage), yet I continue to be billed at the MG rate, including on my most recent invoice.
Their online account system is also broken (payment methods cannot be correctly updated or removed), and customer service has been unable or unwilling to resolve these issues.
The combination of unreliable reservations, wasted time, incorrect billing, and broken systems makes this service impossible to rely on.

Cheap company with cheap policies
Emdless and tiresome procedures. To make sure the company is backd up by the law. The customers are completely left on their own devices in case of service disruption.
It is a cheap company with cheap policies.

Best in Pescara
I have used Drivalia in Pescara and Abruzzo airport many many times and they are always easy to deal with and the cars are always very clean and well equipped. Highly recommend.

Stay clear from them!
The customer service at the counter was extremely slow and it took almost 1 full hour of waiting in the line. The car I received was a slightly better model but had a rather long list of "remarks". As I was in a hurry I could not verify them one by one and anyway no one assisted me when accessing the car at the parking lot. The interior of the car was very dirty: steering wheel was scattered with dried snot droplets and the gear stick was brown dirty. I had to buy some cleaning material and clean that myself as both steering wheel and gearstick were horribly sticky.
Although I took extremely good care of the car during the period and of course never hit or scratched it, when returning the vehicle the inspection staff went suspiciously straight to point out two marks that were apparently not flagged in the car log. I argued that I had not done it but I was quickly dismissed and charged more than 100€ for them.
Perhaps worth mentioning that the car had barely legal tyres (very worn out), only one break light working at the back, the battery of the key was exhausted and the drivers' side floor mat worn out (with a hole!).
Overall an horrible experience with Drivalia. Never again for me.
