Not trustworthy

Picked up a car from these guys after being assured it was "immaculate". The exterior hadn't been cleaned and the seat had what I hope was a chocolate stain. Reece the sales person admitted he hadn't looked in the car - just the photos. He was pretty unpleasant to deal with. The steering alignment was off and needed fixing, which they only half covered through warranty. They do not have inhouse technicians. I think honesty is important. Wouldnt buy a car from them again.

Not impressed

After inadvertently not booking an appointment first time round, the sellers were friendly and helpful, allowing us to sit in cars. They advised we book so they could spend more time with us. This we did. Each time we travelled well over an hour. Our second visit was less helpful. Even less time was spent with us. Cars on the forecourt with prices in the window we were told they couldn't sell, without explanation. We asked for a test drive. They said no without seeing a licence. When we booked there was no reminder to bring the licence and they stated all company's require this. We came away with the impression they did not want to sell us a car. Having wasted our time, we went away to a local garage who allowed us to drive a car without requiring our licence, and we bought it.

No interest in selling cars

I made the effort to visit drive green with my wife despite it being some distance for us so that we had choice of electric cars to see; there were several on the website that would have been of interest. I made an appointment so that we were expected and they knew what we wanted. Despite this, the staff seemed to prefer to stay inside their locked sales cabin, maybe playing cards, or clearly doing something more interesting than actually talking to customers. We looked at several cars on the forecourt, and after choosing the one that interested us most and knocking on their door were told that the car was not available for sale, despite having a price and details on the windscreen. Another car was unlocked for us, but when we requested a test drive we were refused because we had not got our driving licences with us. Perhaps this might have been an obvious precaution, but on the other hand they could have told us when we booked the appointment.
This turned out to be their loss, because we spent our money elsewhere later the same day at a different dealer that was quite happy not to see our driving licence for a test drive.
How they make a profit when they seem to have no interest in selling cars I have no idea.

A 5* buying experience!

Really happy with the buying experience at Drive Green. They were friendly and professional, letting us view at our own pace but always there to answer questions and check in. First time buying electric and we felt confident in their expertise. The car was ready to collect at our convenience and felt like new. The car is great and I would definitely recommend Drive Green to anyone thinking about buying electric, particularly their first EV as it was a very positive experience.

Would definitely recommend

This company are as good as their word, there is no hard sales pitch and they will help you in any way they can. They are friendly and professional with a good selection of electric cars which are not overpriced. Would definitely recommend.

Electrifying Experience

Our whole experience was seamless from start to finish, found a car we wished to view on AutoTrader then made an appointment for viewing, on the day we met our Salesman Reece who took our details for the test drive, my wife drove the car as she's the main driver, our drive with a member of staff was faultless as we are both new to EV's both made to feel confident with the car on a pre determined route around half an hr with the car which was plenty of time to make our minds up, Reece helped us with a finance deal after our deposit was taken, everyone knew their stuff, a week later we picked our lovely new car up with a 12 month MOT, and been enjoying cheap motoring since as we got an EV Charger as part of the deal, first class service from start ro finish

Dishonest, unprofessional, untrustworthy

Selling nice cars to EV converts or enthusiasts is the easy part, but Drive Green has a lot to learn when it comes to dealing with problems.

We are very disappointed by our experience with Drive Green and this has put us off buying a used EV in future.

My advice? Don’t be taken in by their own hype; the living roof, the recycled office furniture, the awards and the super social media posts. Read the poor reviews before you read the good ones, know your consumer rights, stand your ground if you have a problem, chase when they ignore you and keep records of every conversation. You may need them.

We bought a Jaguar iPace from Drive Green in February 2024. A high voltage warning light showed up immediately and the car had problems with charging. We were left to sort this out for ourselves resulting in a £1,000 bill for diagnostics.

Because of the complexity of the problem Drive Green was eventually forced to get involved and had the car for 16 weeks for ‘repair’ before telling us that it had been ‘fixed’ under the warranty. When we asked to see the documents relating to the repair we were refused. They also refused to refund the diagnostics bill.

We charged the car a couple of days after taking it back and it was obvious that it hadn’t been fixed at all as the same warning lights appeared as before. It’s astonishing that Drive Green could claim to have fixed it, while refusing to supply any evidence of doing so. It was so easy for us to see and to prove that it was still faulty, yet we still had to battle.

It’s pointless following the complaints procedure set out on the website as you don’t get a reply. Instead, we received a couple of emails suggesting we were making things up and so was D Lovett, the main dealer we used to carry out diagnostics. This was a childish and unprofessional response to a very significant problem.

Drive Green management need to understand that a casual approach and professionalism are not mutually exclusive. It’s hard to pinpoint the problem, but there clearly is one if you look at the poor reviews. Is it wilful ignorance of consumer law or just plain old ignorance? Maybe it’s under capacity, lack of experience or lack of training in customer service.

Drive Green is not a member of a trade body so there’s no independent resolution service available unless you buy a car on finance, in which case you can take your case to the Financial Ombudsman Service, which is what we did. The Ombudsman instructed Drive Green/the finance company to take the car back and refund our costs. To their credit Drive Green did refund our full deposit but not before I’d chased them about it several times.

More than a year of stress and worry could have been avoided had Drive Green done the right thing at the outset; accepted that there was a problem, apologised and worked out a solution, such as replacing the car, instead of hoping that we would simply go away.

Never again - Ruined the experience of our first EV purchase.

I would not recommend Drive Green and would go as far as to say they should be avoided.

We arranged to purchase our first EV from Drive Green and as you could imagine we were very exited. We arranged pick up a week prior to the date we wanted to collect and paid in full, everything appeared to be going smoothly. I was in contact leading up to the pick up and there were no issues raised. Part of the deal was that the car would have a new MOT and two front tyres replaced.

Pick up was arranged for 1200 and my wife travelled by train from our home as we couldn't drive there. On arrival they were not aware of which car she had come to collect, and after giving them the registration she was told that the car was not ready and that the 2 x tyres may not be fitted as the wrong tyres had been ordered/delivered. We were offered 3 courses of action

1. They offered a hire car to return home excepting us to return in a week to collect the car!
2. Wait around until 3 o'clock however there was no guarantee that the tyres would arrive.
3. Collect the car and pay for the tyres to be fitted ourselves and then wait for Drive Green to refund the cost!

All of these options would ensure that the burden of their errors was firmly placed on us the customer!!

When i spoke to Drive Green about the issue i was met with indifference and a lack of understanding, the blame was clearly placed on the tyre firm (not Drive Green despite them having over a week to ensure the pick up ran smoothly). Having spent over £15000 i expected a far better level of customer service.

The overall attitude and service was extremely poor, i was met with negativity and basically told that if i was not happy then i could cancel the purchase.

In the end we decided that the only course of action available to us was to collect the vehicle and arrange to have the tyres fitted at a reliable garage near home. To add insult to injury we have to pay for this first and then claim it back from Drive green!

The team at Drive Green were extremely…

The team at Drive Green were extremely helpful and responsive when it came to buying my first EV. They were very honest and upfront about the condition of the vehicle as you would expect from an ethical company. There was a refreshing lack of a hard sales pitch which one can find at more corporate dealerships. Their finance rates are also better than most dealerships. A positive experience all round.

I had planned to replace my previous EV…

I had planned to replace my previous EV and had looked on several sites but was undecided. I visited Drive Green and after talking with the Staff settled on testing and Eniro. The Car was in very good condition and I decided to purchase it. From there the process was flawless and it was nice to pick up a valeted and fully charged car

As a new one to EV I got what I wanted but learned a lott

As a new one to EV I got what I wanted. First a walk around the car park looking at what was available and what suited me. An excellent conversation with Reece about pro and cons of various types then a test drive of a good few miles more talks with Reece and then home to think. Decided we needed the next model so back to Reece another test drive and Bingo.
Getting home there where a few faults that developed through my ignorance these where quickly sorted out to my satisfaction.

A great experience buying my first EV

A great experience buying my first EV. I went to drive green on recommendation of a friend, and have been really happy with the experience of viewing, buying, and collecting the car. I mainly worked with Dan and Reece throughout the process, but everyone I ran into in the office was lovely, including some other customers who were happy to share some honest experiences with EV ownership with me.

Viewing process was easy and relaxed. Dan was able to direct me to something that I had not planned on looking at, but was much more suited to what I like in a car. I test drove two vehicles, but felt no time pressure and was offered to look at anything else before I left. This was probably due to it being quiet, as I did return with my partner on a Saturday, and the place was much busier, but I still felt no time pressure, and was given the time to see and ask what I needed.

Payment was mostly easy and straightforward on the website. I had an issue with the deposit, but after texting Reece, he gave me a call back to pay over the phone. Collection was equally easy, and the car was handed over to me in a well presented state.

I really can't fault the experience. I never felt any pressure, any rush to get the payment done now now now. I had no negative experiences as noted in some of the other reviews. Would happily go back for my next vehicle. Thank-you, Drive-Green!

A great selection of EVs

We contacted Drive Green to book a test drive of an e-Golf that we'd seen on their website. When we arrived for our appointment we had a look around the car, showed them our driving licences, and took it out for half an hour.
This was our first experience of driving an electric car and we were immediately sold - we put down a deposit and came back to collect it a couple of days later. The car had been fully charged and valeted so it was in spotless condition and ready to go.
We're very happy with our purchase and would recommend Drive Green to anyone looking to make the switch to an EV.

Disappointed after 2 months

Initially delighted with my purchase from Drive Green however, 2 months after purchasing my Nissan Leaf I am left with a non-moving car on my driveway. A bit of googling and my partner and I suspect (but don't know) that the problem is the 12v battery. Phoned Drive Green, nice chap said 'sounds like the 12v, where are you, we'll try to get someone out to replace, let me ask Reece to call you back'. Waited 4, hours for a call back, called again, waited another hour called again. Finally spoke to Reece and was told that 12v batteries are consumables and not covered under the warranty that I signed. I pointed out that I don't know this is the problem, the response from Reece 'we can have a look at it but you'll have to get it here'. At which point I said it doesn't start how? Basically not his problem, I signed the warranty. I told him that the person that I had spoken to that morning had suggested that they would be able to come out to me and replace, Reece told me that they 'wouldn't have said that', basically accused me of lying! More than disappointed at having to fork out more money and time to try and work out why my car doesn't go and get it going (hopefully). Whilst I admit that I was cross, firm but polite on the phone I found Reece's attitude uncaring, dismissive 'not my problem' attitute.

Beware, read all the reviews as there is a theme.

I didn't think I would write this review as the website and everything looked great. BUT, from the start Reece never really was interested or phoned back. I wanted a Polestar and wanted to check it had the Pilot pack, he told me it didn't eventually. I called Polestar who told me it did and I rang him back and we chatted things through. He was really pretty rude, his tone was not nice, however I carried on as wanted the car, was happy to pay the asking price too. I wanted to reserve the car to which I was told it was a £500 NON refundable deposit. This is something I have never heard of. I understand you have to go to view the car if you wanted the deposit back which I was going to do. It was a 2hr drive which was fine but what if I find something that I was not happy with. Reece was having none of it, his tone was so uninterested. Still I wanted the car so agreed. .....I went to his website to pay as that's where the deposit is paid and they had put the car up £1500, I called again to speak to Reece who eventually called back in a mood and mentioned it. The Autotrader ad was still showing the original price. He told me they had put it up as the car had the Pilot pack. I tried to discuss it with him and he just hung up.
I emailed them and CC'd Richard the Owner who looks really nice on his videos no reply, left it a while and emailed again....nothing from anybody!
Trust me they really do not care, if you had an issue after purchase they would do nothing. There are enough bad reviews for you to really do your checks before buying a car from them and do not be fooled. Maybe Reece was having a bad day but his attitude to the customer and creating what their website says is very poor.
My advice steer clear

Hyundai Kona from Drive Green

Bought a Hyundai Kona from Drive Green. Loved the relaxed approach they took - no hard sell and we rocked up, went for a test drive and buying the car was easy. Delivered once it had been given its MoT. All very smooth and easy and great being able to see just second hand electric cars.
