I can't fault the process up until the point of sale. After the sale, I had to do considerable chasing and was always needing to be proactive. There wasn't any proactivity with comms on the pa... See more

Valuation tool is a lure…Beware!
Used their own part exchange valuation tool which gave a fair price for my vehicle. Even though my car is in decent condition, I downgraded it to second worst condition to stop any haggling on site. It still gave a figure I was happy with. Paid holding deposit and true to their word Ross gave me a video tour and then phoned me at the time requested. This is where it goes wrong. Immediately asked me details of px. I said I had given it already but Ross said he didn’t have the info to hand. Gave him the details again and he asked did I have a figure in mind. I told him I was happy to accept the figure given by their website even though I had put my car as second worst condition to allow for some minor alloy scuffs. Sent them pictures to which Ross commented that the car was very nice. He then phoned me back (after speaking to his Manager) who would only offer me a knock down value. The reason given was because it would need the alloys refurbished. When I said that was covered under the declared condition, Ross went back to his Manager who offered £300 more but still not what it was valued at. I was then told the delivery would be too expensive at a quote of £599…not something I had decided on at that point. It was clear they didn’t want the deal…maybe they didn’t want my car or maybe they didn’t want a cash sale…who knows…but garages like this make me fume. They offer a px valuation service (yes I know they are subject to inspection) but if you class your vehicle in a worse condition than it is, you don’t expect to then have it slashed again before viewing. Anyway, I walked away out of principal. Just be aware when dealing with these people…their px valuation generator is a lure, so don’t expect their valuations to be honoured.

Andy Parry was really knowledgeable and helpful throughout the buying process which we came away extremely happy with both the car and service we experienced. Thanks Andy
Great service, great car
We bought our latest car from the Stockton branch. Peter has been very friendly and knowledgeable and has gone above and beyond for us each step of the way - my children were particularly over the moon with the hot chocolates while we were talking over the admin of the sale.
We’ve been really happy with the service start to finish from the garage and so far with our used car. Thank you Peter!
Great team
Such a helpful site, everyone from the manager (Jeff) to sales (Kayleigh) made our new car purchases possible and special.

Well done Michael
Met Michael swift who patiently showed me many cars and answered all the questions that I had . Very attentive throughout the procedure . A very chatty nature who made me feel at ease. As always a pleasure to do business with drive vauxhall Hartlepool . I always leave with a smile and a car!
Honest and reliable. Drive Direct Darlington
Had a very good experience, no hard sell which is very pleasant change, Mathew Dan and the rest of the staff were very knowledgeable. If you want a honest and trustworthy experience do not hesitate to shop here.
No aftercare
I purchased my vehicle in October 2024 and I am very disappointed with the service from Drive Motor Retail. Despite submitting a formal complaint in March 2025, my vehicle has been off the road for over eight weeks, causing ongoing transport costs and serious disruption due to my reliance on the car for a spinal condition. Communication has been minimal, with no clear resolution timetable.
Although I was told “no faults were present” at the time of sale, subsequent diagnosis revealed historical fault codes in the vehicle’s onboard memory, confirming undisclosed issues. The manufacturer is covering the repair cost, indicating the fault existed prior to delivery.
Despite this, I have had no vehicle, no compensation, and no definitive repair date from Drive Motor Retail. I was also instructed to liaise with another dealer myself, which is unacceptable. I am requesting a formal acknowledgment of their responsibility, compensation for the inconvenience and financial losses, and a confirmed repair completion date.

Richard Biddle was so helpful and attentive and very professional throughout my purchase of a new EV. Great customer service and although it is quite a journey for me from South Yorkshire, I will return in the future.

I recently left a review explaining my bad experience with Hyundai in Hessle however since my honest review I promptly was called by drive and they couldn’t be more helpful and I felt sincere with regards to my displeasure and have now turned a bad situation around so I’m happy to say my faith has now been restored as I feel they have gone above and beyond to make amends I’m just glad they take reviews seriously enough to respond and fix any issues I couldn’t ask for more
Drive Hyundai York
Thank you to Kallum for all his help when purchasing our car, thanks also to Andrew and receptionists for their help over the telephone.
The first time we have bought a car with no pressure to buy extras. Very easy process and the car was delivered promptly by a very polite and friendly man.
Shocker
Shocker - took over a month and a complaint to head office to get the diagnostic report I paid £400 quid for. Fobbed off day after day, mechanic sick, stuff locked in his toolbox, email didn't send etc. Got no more information than "give us another £1000 for software updates and maybe we'll be able to find the fault"
What I can't understand is why not just send it five weeks ago, what have they been doing, what can they gain by the delay?
No apologies either, just a really awful hostile attitude every time you dare ask them to provide what they've been paid for. This was Hartlepool Drive Vauxhall
Buying a car
We would like to thank Richard Bidddle for all the help he gave us,he explained every thing very clearly and made the experience a pleasure would recommend your company gladly.
Worst customer service I have ever been…
Worst customer service I have ever been subjected to. Treated as a complete fool when it comes to mechanical matters, even though I am an ex Mot examiner with many decades experience in the motor industry. I was deliberately told untruths reference the work that supposed to have been done attempting to solve a problem with stop/start system, was told the problem was fixed but stopped working within 1 mile. Second attempt was no better, even after having the car all day, while I had to pay £19.99 for a courtesy car. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy.
Ever since Adam was a lad
Ever since Adam was a lad, I have purchased many, many Hyundai cars from what used to be Minstergate Scarborough, now under the name of Drive Vauxhall, with excellent customer service, they would pick up my car for servicing each year, drop me off a curtesy car and deliver my car back at night. now it appears that the management at drive seem to be looking after themselves and their annual bonus I guess by withdrawing this welcome service that has gone on for years. Well if this is their approach to customer service, I for one, will not be taking out a service contract with them again nor will I be purchasing a hyundai car from them. What a letdown from what was a brilliant company under the name of Minstergate

I was very disappointed with the Drive MG car show room in HULL.
Not only with my experience I encountered, but with the parking. There is a lot of vehicles in a very small car park.
It were a challenge to find somewhere to park, even get access to the disabled parking space outside the store.
Due to all the vehicles that were around you did not have the clearance/angles to Maneuver the vehicle.
The main road before entering Drive MG/Hyundai was full. Apart from some double yellow lines, which in places were not save to park in. (On a corner/blocking entrance).
January 2025 I entered the show room to arrange for appointment when my Motability car is due to change, end of February 2025
My details were taken. However, when I was awaiting on a call.
I ended up having to chase around phoning, leaving few messages, for a call back. This happened for a couple of day. I needed to confirm my appointment prior to turning up.
The appointment date finally arrived.
I was disappointed/ felt unwelcomed by the staff at the Hull store.
They asked who I were looking for. After stating the members name.
After that, no smiles or friendliness from them. Even if they were just walking past you.
I saw the Motability specialist. He was adequate and full of knowledge of the motability scheme and the completion of the paperwork.
However my appointment ended up long winded and unnecessary stressful. In which my anxiety was built up.
1 1/2 hours, in a very warm show room with no drinks offered. Even when I enquired for one.
The car show room has hot drinks and water available. Near the waiting seated area.
I was informed the calls go to "Redcar" call centre location North of Whitby.
So the stress and annoyance. Mix up of my messages, incorrect input of my email address were due to them.
Finally when leaving MG Drive HULL showroom we were going to our vehicle. To find a vehicle had parked halfway across our back end so we couldn't get out. We had to ask a member of staff if it's anyone's vehicle to move it.
I have been with a motability scheme for around 15 years (5 different vehicles). In which I have had 3 different car makes.
Drive MG is the first company /car show room that I have felt unwelcomed, messed around and left feeling on edge /annoyed.
A real let down
The purchase of my used 2019 Ford KA from the Hartlepool branch left me extremely disappointed and feeling very let down.
Upon my initial enquiry on the telephone the salesman was very helpful and arranged a video call to show the car in more detail which I have to say looked and is in immaculate condition.
Because of the distance from my home they kindly agreed to deliver, but it needed a few issues sorting before delivery.
These were a drive shaft boot, a loose exhaust heat shield and a service, an invoice was supplied that the work was carried out on delivery.
Upon delivery 2 of the new tyres had punctures, (I was informed 1 had after it left the branch but I agreed to get it repaired as I needed a car without further delay)
There was absolutely minimal fuel to the point I never made it to my closest garage just 2 miles away, the rear heat shield was only being held on by one heat shield washer and clattering against the exhaust back box, and I then woke up the next morning only for my driveway to be covered in driveshaft grease dripping out the shaft!
The oil life showed 80% so doubt that was changed either.
I have since taken it to my trusted mechanic despite purchasing the warranty recommended as they said the work needs to be approved first which can take time which I haven’t got due to hospital visits and needed the car fixed.
I actually do love the KA but all this could have been avoided.
I did telephone the Hartlepool branch and spoke to the salesman who offered very little help apart from telling me at least I had the warranty. I really was expecting a call back from the branch manager or an email but nothing.
Lesson learnt for me not to buy a car online and think it’s safer with a main dealer.
Bought a new 2024 Peugeot van after…
Bought a new 2024 Peugeot van after 550,000 miles engine fault, told it’s my fault because I’ve done low mileage and engine oil degeneration fault, told to drive on the motorway 70 miles an hour in fourth gear for over 20 minutes every time I take it out, I WAS NOT TOLD THIS WHEN I BOUGHT THE VAN. £500 to fix the engine fault!!! I drive on the motorway at 70 miles an hour 2-3 times a week, but although it flagged as an engine fault, it was NOT covered in warranty, very disappointed, would not recommend to buy Peugeot van from Drive Motor retail based on my experience. Same van fries my iPhone even with apple lead I am told £150 to check fault if nothing found, based on the fact that an engine fault cost me £500 I can not see anything would be covered on the 3 year warranty. Avoid !!!
Shocking after sale care
Shocking after sale care
I have had cars from this branch now for almost 8 years so I decided to recommend to my husband for his next car and have been appalled to be honest.
I'm embarrassed that I recommended the place after the experience he has had.
We viewed the car before picking it up and all was OK then the day my husband picked it up there was a huge scratch on the boot and it had not been valeted to a high standard the parcel shelf was also attached with a cable tie...
They booked us in to have the scratch repaired promised a courtesy car then when the day arrived they didn't have any available so my husband had to wait on site from 8.30 until 11.30 despite coming off a 10 hour night shift... They also replaced the parcel shelf from another car on site.
The settlement for the previous car was supposed to be settled and wasn't and we were not informed which led to another payment being taken when raised to vauxhall they blamed the finance company even though there was no record of payment being made to the finance company when we spoke to them.. also once we highlighted the issue the payment went through straight away so something went wrong somewhere and somebody isn't telling the truth about what went wrong (if someone held there hands up and admitted a mistake it would be water under the bridge as everyone makes mistakes what I can't stand is being fobbed off and lied too and people passing the blame) .
We were reimbursed for the additional payment after finally speaking to a manager however the stress and anxiety that this caused us was unreal. This literally went around the houses and we had to fight for a resolution being fobbed off at all angles before finally speaking to a manager.
We spoke to the person who sold us the car about the finance not being settled and he was literally talking to someone in the background whilst I was on the phone to him which I called him out on and found this extremely rude he could hear that I was clearly extremely stressed about the situation. Granted when he wanted the sale it was great we got on like a house on fire but once the sale had gone through everything changed and we feel let down.
Then to top it off a light has come on the dash 2 weeks after having the car and we are just being ignored...
A new car is supposed to be an exciting time but I have never found something so extremely stressfull and anxiety inducing in my life.
I used to rave about your Nuneaton branch and didn't want to leave a bad review but I feel really let down this time so its safe to say this will be the last car I have from drive so thanks guys..
Sincerely a former loyal customer 👍
