I dealt with a contractor who introduced himself as Gez Ferns, operating under the name City Drop Kerb. I paid £75 for a site survey and later a £2,250 deposit for driveway works.
The following day I cancelled the work and requested a refund of the £2,250 deposit because there were no written terms stating that the deposit was non-refundable. I did not request the £75 survey fee back as the survey had already been carried out.
The refund was refused and I have since issued a County Court claim to recover the deposit. The money has not been returned and the matter is currently going through the court process.
I would strongly recommend anyone considering similar work ensure all terms, payment conditions and cancellation rights are clearly agreed in writing before paying any deposit.

I'm really impressed with the work they have completed. They arrived on time every day and finished the job quickly and professionally. Their rates are also really competitive, we couldn't find any other company who could match their prices. Fantastic work and a great bunch of workers.
