Great photographic tool

Everything I want to do with my photos can be found in the DXO software: editing and also cataloging with keywords.

But it's a pitty I can't test the latest Pure Raw before I buy it. Cause I've already tested an older version, and now I wanted to know if batch renaming would offer me more options (using metadata as the file name).

DXO has some of the best software

DXO Pure Raw is in my opinion the best denoising software around and as a bonus gives you a great negative to start editing.
DXO Photo Lab is one of the best raw editors I have used
Nik Collection is a great place to start putting the finishing touches to your image.
Great software that I have found to be intuitive to use and good value for money. They have a very helpful support team as well if you have any queries

Very mixed bag

There are two faces to this company: one is the products, and they are very high quality image processing apps that are unmatched in the marketplace. In the end, it's the result that counts, and that makes up for a lot of the odd user interface and bugs.

The problem is customer support and how serious they are about software quality. I have worked on imaging software half my life, so I do know a little bit about the domain. I am on the Adobe Lightroom beta list, and when I submit a bug there then it's treated professionally, looked at immediately, and usually fixed in next week's beta build. Amazing. TopazLabs? I get a response the same day, usually with a workaround, and the problem is fixed promptly.

Contrast that with DXO: if there is a follow-up to a bug, it is weeks later, and/or in a tone that's basically telling you that you're doing it wrong. Even as an experienced professional you are being talked down to. The process of filing bugs is completely boneheaded, as if it were designed to make submitting bugs as hard as possible, and even if you provide screen recordings, system reports, etc., nothing happens.

The "eat it or leave it" approach that DXO brings to their software, along with the quality standard of a 1980s Citroën, is tremendously disappointing. The user interface is questionable at times but I'm used to other French software. I am eating it, for now, because nobody can provide the same results, but I do hope that others catch up so that I can dump them. There's so much potential there, but they just don't care to listen.

I can't reply to a supplier reply, but let me clarify: this is not about a beta program. I'm just saying that Adobe has one, and they find my feedback apparently valuable because they usually address issues within a week. The reason why I haven't submitted a bug in a year is because the bugs that I've submitted since DxO PR1 have been utterly frustrating to submit in the first place (like when companies don't want to contact their support department), and even if "the perfect bug report" has been submitted, no action is taken, no response is given, or you're told "you're doing it wrong." Every. Single. Time.

Hello Stan,

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We truly appreciate your recognition of the quality of our image processing tools — delivering outstanding results remains our top priority.

We’re genuinely sorry to read your concerns regarding customer support and our handling of bug reports. That is not the experience we want to provide.

After reviewing your history, we see one activation-related request within the past year, which was processed and resolved within approximately six hours. We have not identified other support requests during that period.

Regarding that specific matter, our system allows users to manage activations directly from their DxO customer account via the License Management Portal, giving full autonomy to deactivate devices without waiting for support intervention.

Concerning beta workflows, our development and release process differs from weekly public beta cycles such as Lightroom’s. While we do not operate with continuous public beta updates, user feedback and bug reports are carefully reviewed and integrated into our update roadmap.

If there are specific issues you feel were not properly addressed, we would sincerely welcome the opportunity to review them again:

We remain committed to improving both our software and the support experience around it, and we hope to continue earning your trust.

DxO Photolab9 - setup problems

I downloaded the trial version of DxO Photolab9 and had difficulty getting it to run on my older PC. After trying many different ways to resolve the problem, I eventually contacted the help desk. The experience, help and knowledge were second to none. I can say the best I have come across. I am reasonably knowledgeable in IT, but the assistance was great, fast and logical.

Software is excellent but the information about how to use and why needs improvement. I love NIK but that is based mostly on the information I had before DxO acquired the software.

DxO Pure Raw Changes Your Photography

I view DxO Pure Raw as the best software for noise reduction available after comparing it to several other programs. It has allowed me to shoot indoors and at night at the camera’s upper limit and get good images, not just usable images. I’ve recommended it to multiple photographers.
