The Convention of Thorns: an intense, three-night joyride through Vampire politics in 1493

Dziobak LARP studio organizes The Convention of Thorns, amongst others. The game is set in a beautiful castle in Poland, thoughtfully catered, well-organized and most of all, exciting!

I had the pleasure of attending the second run of the game and was swept into the fateful nights of October 1493, along with my co-players, for three nights of high-stakes (no pun intended) Vampire politics that would determine the future of the war between them.

The production values are magnificent and the experience is one of a kind. The most commonly heard criticism was that the game was too short - I think that's one of the bigger compliments one can receive.

It's hard, however, to prepare yourself properly for the larp if you're part of the no-Facebook-crowd like I am. You miss out on a lot of fun and information, which could be fixed with a little effort and would result in a more properly documented and accessible larp.

EU4 lan in a badass polish castle

An overall great experience, a very good way to meet people with similar interests and make some friends. The castle is very nice and comfortable, and depending on the day the polish food was mostly very good.
A few things need to be improved, but the staff is very competent and I have no doubt they will fix them or find a more suitable event "model" (to lighten the planning a little bit).

A lifechanging experience

A lifechanging experience! Not only a great adventure in the few days the LARP-scenarios last but also an invitation and a possibility to be a part of a welcoming international community. Not only is the settings and locations absolutely amazing: during the scenarios there is great focus on both the physical and mental wellbeing of the player which makes it a caring and safe environment. Really really recommendable!

College of Wizardry

This was a new and fun experience for me. This LARP was very different than anything I have ever done, and I had never LARPed before either. The location was beautiful and believeable. The organizers were very helpful and addressed any questions about play or logistics. The other players were kind and helpful. They wanted everybody to have a good time and really tried to include and be involved in other players' plots.
I highly recommend this as a fun escape for any age, especially if you like LARP, roleplaying games, or Harry Potter-esque stuff!

Thank you for your passion, the quality of your work, and your beautiful humanity...

The Lan party has been an amazing experience, even far better than I expected. The place was simply magic, the game was perfectly organised, and the passion of the organisers was contagious. I hope more people hear about what they do, because they are authentic, passionate, and care that everyone involved have fun no matter what.

For a non-larper

For a non-larper, this is the ideal place to start: all you need is your wand (buy an expensive one, buy a cheap one, make one yourself; they all "work" equally well). School robes will be supplied, what you wear underneath is just clothes of any kind.
You have to invest a little time (as much as you want - even with very little, you will still immediately get immersed in the universe, helped by the workshops before game starts).
And you get lifelong friendships.

The Grandest LAN (EU4)

I had a wonderful time at "The Grandest LAN" event. The passion and dedication from the organizers was impeccable. And even though I've never attended a LARP event before in my life I'm now very tempted to check out the other stuff Dziobak is up to.
All in all. If you want to escape reality for a while and experience an awesome adventure I can't see any better way. I can't do anything else but strongly recommend trying this out.

EU4 Grandest LAN-party

An awesome event. The organizers pulled all the strings to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Food was good, the castle itself is amazing, the effort put into the event is stunning. I had a great time.

EU IV GRAN LAN PARTY

I had my concerns about going; from my lack of game experince, to the actual event. There was no need to worry, I soon saw the event was going to be more than expected, and my gaming experience was not lacking.

The organisers pulled all the stops, the entire castle for us, the stuff friendliness, the little things like available food and drinks, the immersion with dress, acting and scrolls to write with a feather pen. The competence.

I hightly recommend it. In fact, I already have in the Facebook page about this game.

I had a great time with Dziobak studios.

I absolutely loved the event that Dziobak studios put on and I would highly recommend it to anyone thinking about participating in one of their events. The event I went to was very fun, enjoyable and well planned, especially considering it was the first time they had done the specific event that I went to. The organizers and staff were professional but also very friendly and willing to help in any way they could. The food and accommodation was also great and overall there was basically nothing to complain about. If you are into LARP events, this is a great company to do one with.

I participate to the EU4 grandest lanparty which took place in Czocha castle and it truely was the craziest LAN I ever joined! The place, the food the organisers and the players all added up to make a fantastic experience!
