Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Reviewers overwhelmingly had a great experience with this company. Customers consistently praise the products for their effectiveness in cleaning clothes, even with tough stains and for sensitive skin. Many appreciate the environmental benefits and the long-term cost savings. People frequently mention the pleasant, gentle scents and the overall quality of the items, with some having used them for years. However, some customers also noted that the products might not clean as effectively at lower temperatures or for very light staining, and a few mentioned a lack of fragrance. There were also isolated instances of product damage after initial use, and some felt the fragrance was not entirely natural as advertised.

Not so eco...

I brought the egg after seeing it on the telly and attempting to be more eco. The first 5 washes were great and I could slightly smell the fragrance, also clothes were clean. .. However.. Now clothes just aren't coming out clean and having to re-wash so defeats the object... Have tried many differant cycles but no differance... Looks like I'll be going back to my previous powder which is a shame.

Nope

The ecoegg isn't very efficient at lower temperatures though a bit better at 60. It doesn't remove marks and stains very well. e.g. it won't take the make-up marks out of face masks. I'm afraid it's a no from here. The tumble drier eggs seem to do the job though, we'll be keeping those

Yes they wash but that’s it

Yes they wash but that’s it, no scent of Fresh Linen! Also got the dryer eggs which just make your laundry smell of burning rubber, so don’t bother. I do wonder if the lady on TV got some privileges for recommending them, I’ll stick to my usual brand and use the egg if I run out.

A useful tool to cut down on detergent

Completely updated review.

Ecoeggs do work, I have had some really good results with them, but there are some caviats and they don’t completely remove the need for detergent:

1. The claim that you don’t need fabric conditioner is true if you don’t mind your clothes being a bit on the crispy side when line drying. I still add a small amount of eco fabric conditioner to soften further and give some scent. If you are tumble drying with the dryer eggs, fabric conditioner is not needed as this softens and scents.

2. The eggs won’t get rid of smells on really stinky washing, they come out clean but still smell a bit. I give smelly stuff a good hot eco detergent wash.

3. You need to use a stain remover to spot treat stains. I haven’t been able to try the ecoegg one as it has been out of stock when I ordered so have been using Ecover one. I’ve had good results on egg, coffee and curry stains with this. Tea stains, not so much though.

4. Keep the egg topped up with pellets. About every 20 washes or so there is enough room for one pack (you get 2 packs with each top up box). My estimate is that a 50 wash top up pack lasts more like 40 washes in the real world.

5. The whitener pellets work well on whites but they seem to disappear quicker than the standard ones. I have contacted customer services about this and they think I have had some from a bad batch so have sent me some fresh pellets. They were very helpful regarding this so hopefully it’s just a batch issue.

6. You must keep your washing machine super clean with an empty, very hot cycle and a washing machine cleaner at least once a month. Cleaning around the rubber seals and in and behind the detergent drawer are important too. Most of the smells you will get are from the machine and not the clothes.

The bottom line is that I now use ecoeggs for most of my washing and I have drastically cut down on detergent. Some people will be happy to use them as a complete replacement, for me though a bit of eco detergent still has its place, but not very often.

There is no scent or evidence that anything has happened to my clothes other than getting wet! Also bought the drier eggs and no scent there either. I like my clothes to smell fresh and this didn't happen. I feel let down.

Total con

Totally disappointed in these. Don’t remove stains and smell of absolutely nothing. Not sure why they sell fragrance free when the fragranced ones smell of nothing. Would have the same effect washing in just water. And so far no response from customer services. Clearly paid to market their product on a TV show.. total con!

DANGEROUS DRYER EGGS

WARNING! THE DRYER EGGS ARE DANGEROUS AND HAVE BROKEN MY TUMBLE DRYER! I have a hotpoint dryer and an egg got wedged between the fin inside the drum and the non moving part of the front wall, acting like a brake pad. Luckily I was near the tumble dryer and heard the change in tone as when we went to check, there was smoke in the room and the drum was trying to carry on spinning but it couldn’t. We had only been using the dryer eggs about a week.
I contacted the company straight away who are looking into it but didn’t call me back all day yesterday. Meanwhile I have no working tumble dryer.
I am deeply concerned about what would have happened had I not been in earshot of the tumbler.

DANGEROUS dryer eggs.

DANGEROUS dryer eggs.
One of these jammed my tumble dryer drum ( Hotpoint) and the tumble dryer overheated and no longer works. This could have been so much worse! It is the narrow shape of the eggs that allows them to get between the drum 'fin' and the dryer wall. I haven't spoken to Eco egg yet as it's happened over the weekend. I will be calling tomorrow morning and showing them my video!

It's a huge shame

It's a huge shame. I saw the TV show and trusted what they said. Bought the egg and top ups and happily started using it. I now have one shirt, worn 3 times that I've had to bin due to marks that appeared in the wash, and two other items that have changed colour for no other reason than the egg. Really want to do the right thing for the environment and we all absolutely should - sadly, this isn't it

Doesn’t work

Bought this, like another reviewer, after watching Shop Well for the Planet so had high expectations. On a mission to reduce my plastic consumption so loved this idea. Unfortunately, it doesn’t clean anything. My washing comes out with exactly the same dirt and stains it went in with. Just had to buy my old tabs again - one wash and everything came out perfectly. I’ve tried a number of washes with the egg but no joy. What a disappointment! I bought the egg and £10 worth of refills. A complete waste of money.

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service. They labelled something wrong on a product. When I approached them about it, didn’t even apologise or offer any constructive compensation. I ended up out of pocket. When I tried to ask them for some kind of constructive solution, they just sent a useless template email to try and get rid of me. Terrible experience!!! Also, all pellets come in plastic rather than non plastic starch based alternatives that exist.

Clothes came out dirtier than they went in

I bought the starter kit after watching Shop Well for the Planet, thinking it would save on plastic and detergents. I detoxed the machine first as per instructions. First wash at 60°c white sheets, one with a bit of washable pink felt tip, other not visibly dirty. After the wash with Ecoegg the sheets came out with grey marks over them and the felt tip hadn't been touched. They also felt crispy and not nice. I had to put them back in with my normal detergent and they came out totally clean ( no pink or grey) and much softer ie as normal.
Not a good experience. Also the egg is made of plastic, the pellets come in plastic bags. They say they are recyclable, but I thought the point was to reduce plastic in the first place. I shall go back to normal washing powder in a cardboard box from now on.

Negative results! Why?

I can't understand why there are so many negative reviews mixed in between positive ones. My ecoegg works great and the washing comes out clean for me. I have now ordered some of the scented pellets as I am so impressed. Can someone please explain to me why there are some people not getting the good results they expect. These eggs and pellets work well and I am helping to save the planet, which is an important reason to use them.

It works much better than the biological big name brand detergent I was using…

I bought an egg starter kit (fragrance free) last week and have used it 3 times on a 40 degree less than 2 hour synthetics wash at 800 rpm. The results are it works better than the big name biological detergent I’ve been using for years, WITHOUT A DOUBT. I’m baffled at why there are so many reviews saying it doesn’t work! The only thing I can think is that those people’s washing machines have a build up of grime or mould as I did time changing to an egg with getting a brand new washing machine. You have to clean your washing machine thoroughly before you use the egg. Heavily stained towels, underwear, dish clothes, shirts (with pit stains 😁) are all coming out of the machine spotless and odourless. A bamboo dishcloth washed out like new with the egg, it was filthy when I put it in the machine with everything on it from ketchup to turmeric and grease. Even with the fragrance free egg everything smells just plain clean. I definitely won’t be going back to traditional detergent anytime soon.

Didn't work where alts did

Eco-egg didn't clean my clothes at all even with small load sizes. Only one or two items would smell of the fragrance (which I really liked) I didn't try raising the temperature as I didn't want to damage my clothes or use any more energy. Maybe it's my machine (I didn't use the detox tablets) but i tried smol next and that cleaned and fragrances my clothes with my regular load & temp.

I tried the ecoegg for environmental…

I tried the ecoegg for environmental reasons. On my normal wash at 30 C the egg did not remove stains. Tried at 40C, still no good. Tried at 40C and pre-wash the stains (rub soap on). Not very effective on stains pre-treated, and on a shirt collar and hand towel I had not pre-treated, excacerbated the stains. DO NOT USE. I think washing with just water is the same as using these eggs. I hav not found any info if the egg could boost the effect of detergent - if there is synergy, I will use the egg and half the reccomended detergent.

Really worth the £

I use the eco egg twice weekly in my portable washer with no other chemicals (maybe a drop of essential oils), i would recommend doing a rinse with just softener if you like it super soft.I am a mother and a cleaner and I recommend this as it cleans very well for what it is, it got food colouring out of my towel, I wash things such as socks, vests, under garments and towels for the baby and my own T-shirt’s. it performs well enough to clear dirt from clothes and has a very mild light fragrance (I got the blossom one). It’s not overpowering and it lasts me almost year for £10… so I can’t complain at all. It’s refillable and you can change the scent. Only way you will find out for yourself is to try it. Good purchase and I got my £10 worth whilst doing a little to save the planet. I do not sponsor this source, I am just a customer.

Ecoegg

Had used for a while but clothes come out smelling no matter what you do. Had recommended to my family and friends so everyone has wasted their money. Would not recommend to anyone else. Not worth buying. Works out more expensive as need to wash clothes again and having to use the dryer more. Terrible product.

Serious omission of ingredients

Ecoegg detox tablets omits to advise that it also contains perfume, fragrances on their website. I have a Medical disability and contact with such fragrances can cause me to have a very serious allergic anaphylactic type reaction.

Ordered these from the website only to discover that they were fragranced. Even though I discarded the tablet immediately i have reacted with burning face, shaking, headache and sickness., these symptoms can last days once triggered and can also lead to blistering in my eyes and mouth, and nerve inflammation.

Eco egg should be aware of the serious consequences of not disclosing all the ingredients of products on their website. There are thousands of allergy sufferers like me, many who have MCAS and MCS (more so since covid-19) who rely on companies disclosing the full ingredients in their products so we can keep ourselves safe.

They must surely be aware that perfume ingredients of  Limonene and Citral can cause citrus allergic reactions and that Geraniol can have numerous side effects.? And for MCAS and MCS sufferers like me the consequences of coming into contact with such ingredients can be much more severe.

Eco egg haven’t even responded to my email last week about this …not the actions of an ethical company that they try so hard to portray.? Obviously they are not at all concerned about the health or safety of their customers.

As requested I have resent the email to the company again.
