Under the booking terms, some cancellations are refunded to the e-wallet rather than the original card, and any non-refundable items stay out of the return amount. The wallet balance can usually be used towards the cost, but if it doesn’t cover the full total, the remaining amount needs another payment method. If you were expecting the whole payment to come from the wallet, that setup can be easy to miss. If you want the exact booking checked, the Help Center can review the payment options tied to it.

€20 is apparently worth more to EconomyBookings than their reputation.
I had a car reservation at Sofia Airport starting on August 8 for 17 days. Unfortunately, the rental company was unable to authorize my Platinum credit card and refused to hand over the car.
I immediately contacted my bank’s customer support. They confirmed that the card was fully operational, had sufficient available funds, was not blocked or restricted in any way, and that neither the daily or monthly payment limits had been exceeded.
Despite the fact that the rental company refused to provide the vehicle, EconomyBookings refused to refund my €19.95 deposit.
I can understand that technical or authorization issues can happen. What I cannot understand is EconomyBookings choosing to keep €19.95 from a customer who did not receive the service, instead of making a reasonable effort to resolve the situation.
Apparently, €20 is more important to EconomyBookings than its reputation and customer trust.
For me, this is not about €19.95. It is about how a company treats a customer when something goes wrong. EconomyBookings had an opportunity to handle the situation professionally and build trust. Instead, they chose to keep the money.
After this experience, I will not be using EconomyBookings again, and I would strongly recommend that anyone booking through this platform carefully check the refund and cancellation conditions before paying anything.
Very disappointing. A €19.95 deposit may be insignificant to a company, but apparently it is worth more to EconomyBookings than maintaining a good reputation.

Sofia Airport on 8 August, a 17-day rental, and a €19.95 deposit left behind after the car was refused — that’s a fair thing to push back on. The card check at the desk is handled by the rental supplier, and a bank confirming the card was active doesn’t always change the supplier’s authorization result. If the vehicle wasn’t handed over, the deposit can still be tied to the booking terms unless the case is reviewed against the counter handling. If this is still unresolved, do drop a line to community@bookinggroup.com with your booking number, the bank’s confirmation, and any note or receipt from Sofia Airport.
