How can this car rental company is authorised to be on the market on the first place?
Horrible experince from collecting the car at Malpensa until dropping it in Linate airport.
High class scammer
Awful
Cancel my booking because my flight was late. Tried to call multiple times to let them know about my flight delay but nobody answer it. They didn't care, left my wife and I with our 11 months carless in Pisa.
Just don't
We spent almost 2 hours at Bologna airport to collect our prepaid rentav car, due to an error who would be the main driver. Eventuely cost us €330 extra to solv the insurance, dubbel the fee from our advance booking via Booking.com
Avoid this company!
Very bad experience renting a car in Sardinia. Upon arrival they try to sell extra insurance. For us this meant an extra 40-50%. We didn't do this. This is part of the revenue model. When you pick it up, you sign a contract that you don't have time to read. Which is a wise thing to do because they can use anything to charge for things. You can't really avoid it because you want to go to your holiday destination.
While using an almost new car (4K KM on the odometer), the rear door handle came loose. I communicated about this by email but received no message. We really didn't do anything strange with it. This was used upon return and afterwards to claim money. This amount has become higher than when we returned the car.
Don't rent a car here! If you have not purchased your deductible, it is your turn. We have also seen this happen to other customers. If you do rent here, take very detailed photos and a video of the car and have any unmarked damage noted immediately by the company.
Had car booked and confir.medsince…
Had car booked and confir.medsince early in the year. Gave flight number ofBA flight coming into Florence airport. After waiting on bag and shuttle was a halfhour or so after pi k up time. Arrogantly told i was late and they had given my car away. Nobody anzwered when phoned given number.8
Had to go to another rental company and ended up paying doyble previous quote. Never use this company. Ignorant and untrustworthy
Aggressive insurance selling
In line with other reviewers here, they tried to aggressively sell us their own insurance despite us already having insurance. We had to decline about 8 times and it was a very unpleasant experience.
We were threatened with having thousands of euros charged to our card if there was even a small scratch discovered when we gave back the car.
We've hired cars in other countries before....we're not naive and we know how it all works etc. That's one of the reasons we purchased comprehensive insurance beforehand. But we were unprepared for the rudeness and being threatened.
We purchased via Booking.com; I really think given the reviews displayed here on Trustpilot that Booking.com may want to reconsider partnering with companies like this that will cause them reputational harm.

Booked through booking.com picked up at Naples airport, awful experience. Waited 2/3 hours to get the car the staff or the process was so slow. Bad start to our holiday thought we would never get out of there.
Mafia. Please run away when you hear Ecovia
Please allow people to grant a zero star to this company.
Before I booked a car with the Porta Nuova office in Torino, I called reservations and I made it clear that I only have a visa prepaid card and the person who answered my call said that it is OK to use it.
So I booked the car and when I wanted to pick it up in the above mentioned office, I was told that only credit cards were accepted.
I immediately knew that I was dealing with a mafia that wants to steal your money at all costs.
I called the lady in reservations only to be told that an oral OK is not reliable and that they only abide by what's in the written conditions. I asked for a refund and guess what?? No refund.
I asked the lady to give me her name and she said she had no name.
The 2 guys in the office were very rude and unhelpful.
This is a company that banks only on stealing people's money so run away if you hear their name.
Dreadful company - avoid at all costs !
Booked via booking.com. Arrived at Milan Linate and man whom served us was rude, nasty and like all other reviews tried to charge an additional €300 for new insurance despite having taken out extra insurance with our original booking. Was very much a ‘take it or leave it’ but knew we didn’t have cancellation cover. I called booking.com and the guy that helped us was so helpful. He even asked to speak to the rude man behind the desk and took down a note of his name. Booking.com cancelled and fully refunded me and rebooked there and then with another provider which ended up costing only an extra £20 from the original price despite it being an instant booking. The car hire company clearly will use every excuse in the sun to get more money out of you and prays on people’s vulnerability. If you can, call your booking agent to explore options before lining the greedy pockets of Ecovia
AVOID SCAMMERS
Arrived at the desk at 11am on 11/08 at Naples Airport, to pick up the car. After more than 3 hours in the queue, waiting in August Italian heat, the lady at the desk said that our booking was cancelled due to us arriving more than 2 hours late, even though we had been waiting in the queue since 11 and our pick up was at 10, we did not expect the queue to be so long and slow. Also there was nowhere on the paperwork that stayed we had to pick up the car within two hours of the pick up time. We asked to speak to the manager who claimed that he had been calling our name. Not once was our name, or anyone else’s name called out. He was very rude and was refusing to help us in this situation even when we had explained that we had been standing in the queue for hours and he had definitely not called our name. He also could not find where it was written that we had to pick up the car within the two hours, contradicting himself. He then proceeded to get in our faces and shout. We contacted VIP Cars, at the time, who did not understand why our car had been cancelled and tried to sort out the situation with the manager at the car pickup at the airport. The manager was very arrogant and would not help us. We were left stranded without a car and had a disabled daughter waiting with us in the heat. We had to rent a car from another company costing us around €450, double what we had originally paid with vipcars. We feel that this has ruined the start of our holiday
AVOID!!!!!
This is the worst car hire rental…
This is the worst car hire rental company.they are treating customers like a trash.i booked a car from Milan airport shuttle service also worse they told me my booking is cancelled because I was late to pick and they said
this is my problem and they cannot help then I have to hire a car with different company my whole day ruined
avoid
Yeah I wish I'd looked here before using them. Not possible to get a response from them as soon as there's an issue. For sure avoid
A very expensive scam
A very expensive scam! I got a car from them via Ryanair website. Paid for the rental and took an insurance to cover. Arrived at the airport they wouldn't let me go unless I got their insurance which was even more than the original price of rental. It was pay it or leave it. Of course impossible to contact consumer services of Ryanair rental. I show what was written in the confirmation email but they didn't even try to understand (the email was in French) not even try my payment card until I signed for that insurance. Never rent from them
too bad you have to give one star
too bad you have to give one star. This company does not deserve it!!!
I'd give a no-star if I could...
I'd give a no-star if I could...! Similar to other experiences here. I was going to be 1 hr late to pick up the car from Turin Train Station. I called in advance to let them know. I arrived to be informed the booking was no longer available but there was an Audi TT for double the original price. I politely declined and got a booking through Noleggiare who were just round the corner instead (£50 dearer than my original booking). From Ecovia I got no sympathy, no customer service and no humanity!!! Given the multiple instances of this it's hard to believe it isn't just a scam, especially given how often trains/planes etc are delayed.
Horrible Car Rental Experience - Overcharged and Inconvenient Service
I want to share a terrible experience I had with your company during a recent car rental. I initially paid €73 through Booking.com for insurance, but when I went to pick up the car, I was shocked to be charged an additional €184 for insurance—despite only having the car for one and a half days.
When it was time to return the car at your Bergamo location, we couldn’t find anyone at the designated drop-off address. My friend had to go inside the airport to ask for assistance while I waited outside with the car. We ended up leaving the car in the parking lot as there were no staff present to help.
To make matters worse, the woman at the counter informed us that there was no one available to take us back to the airport, even though the parking lot is 45 minutes away! She mentioned a free bus that would take 20 minutes, but we had to wait another 25 minutes for it to arrive, turning a short trip into a nearly hour-long ordeal. The alternative was an Uber costing €73.40, with no taxis available.
This was the worst rental experience I've ever had. The overcharges and lack of customer service were unacceptable. I strongly advise against renting a car from this company.
Stay away from this rental company
Stay away from this rental company. The worst service ever. My flight was late 1h and my booked car was rented for someone else. They offer me another car for double price as I supposed to pay. The staff in Alghero Airport was so rude and offensive, didn't even try to solve the problem. It is my first such a bad experience with rental company.
Most customer-unfriendly company that…
Most customer-unfriendly company that refuses to think along and then offers a far too expensive solution that doesn't meet expectations!
We rented a car and neatly provided our flight number in the booking. Due to a 2-hour delay, we arrived late and, according to the puppet behind the counter, our reservation had been canceled because we were late, and she had rented the car to someone else.
After some frustrating back-and-forth, I was offered a car for an additional payment of €139. Since there were no other options, I paid it. Once in the car and driving, I noticed that the car only had 30 km of fuel left, so I had to refuel immediately.
What an unfriendly and customer-unfriendly company!
The worst car rental company in +20 years
I echo the experience of others here on trustpilot. I've rented numerous cars over the past 20 years, and Ecovia is by far the worst company I've met. They push very expensive insurance (€600!), but luckily I was covered by Rentalcars.com. When the car did break down, they did not help us in any way. Their road assistence site didn't work, so we ended up paying for towing (€200) ourselves. They didn't bother finding us a replacement car and hung up several time when I called them. The car we got had 174.000 km on the clock!
I will never use Ecovia again.
