Extremely disappointed - service has declined sharply

I received last-minute notice that my website would be migrated - right in the middle of a major product launch! While the migration itself was escalated due to my request and handled quickly, my email has not been working for over a week (during my launch!), and I can only imagine how many important customer emails I’ve missed because of it.

Support has been absolutely useless. I keep either getting ignore or receive the same copy-paste suggestions over and over, instead of actual troubleshooting, and when I asked to file a formal complaint, I was completely ignored.

This is incredibly disappointing because Eco Web Hosting used to be fantastic - support was responsive and helpful. Sadly, it’s clear from reading other recent reviews that I’m not the only one experiencing these issues. I will be moving my business elsewhere. It’s obvious they no longer care about their customers.

Used to be amazing

Used to be amazing. I've been with them for about 9 years and have all my clients sites (around 50) with them. I believe they were bought out by HostPresto and ever since everything has gone down a massive hill. Customer service is very poor, waiting up-to 24hrs to get any response with urgent issues. One of my big clients was left without all of their business emails as well as secure website due to SSL issue after they migrated to a new system. I will be moving all of my business elsewhere.

If you need a hosting company you can rely for your business, this is no longer a good option. Don't do it, you will regret it.

I would give zero stars if I could

I would give zero stars if I could. They migrated to a new server and in the move ALL my contacts have been deleted and I've spent DAYS trying to get my email working again. Now I'm getting junk in but all my work contacts are getting email bounce backs. It's so awful I've lost weeks of work, and tons of money. Plus I look really unprofessional. I'm moving to gmail.

big let down, again.

not the best. not very happy with ecoweb. major problems with outlook. have done everything suggested by them and still not working. seems like customer services keeps repeating themselves on how to fix the issue.
thinking of leaving this company for good. not reliable, not efficient. will take this further if my business suffers from it.
highly advice not to go with this company.

Support on Easter Bank Holiday Monday

On Easter Bank Holiday Monday, I had a two-part issue with a domain name that I expected would be resolved the next day, or later, as it was important, but not particularly urgent. I was pleasantly surprised when literally a few minutes after opening a ticket, I received a response and the situation resolved to my satisfaction. Well done to the team!

Very Impressed!

I had a couple of niggles with my site, mostly because I hadn't been on for a while and was wanting to get it up and running again.
I submitted a couple of tickets on bank holiday Monday, marked priority as 'low' and was not expecting a response.
Both tickets were answered and and resolved very quickly, even the one where I needed an expert to walk me through my problem. Very impressed.

Inadequate support after an "upgrade" that's a confusing and broken mess

I've been signed up with ecowebhosting.co.uk for a while, in the hope of migrating a free wordpress.com site to its managed wordpress package, and getting an email system working. My progress has been much slower than I'd have hoped (partly because this is a side project) and I am starting to think I've not chosen the right hosting package or company.

I have registered three domains, but only have one full hosting package. The hosting package has just been "upgraded" and the control panel for the domain linked to that one is now completely different from - and very confusing in comparison to - the simpler control panel for the other two domains. I've no idea where I'm supposed to manage DNS from as there are seemingly different routes to doing it, but most of them don't actually work.

Support is slow to respond, and far less helpful than it needs to be, and apparently phone support isn't available, though I have had that in the past.

I'll be updating this review if I get the great support that many other reviewers apparently experience, as I'd much rather report a happy ending than have to go through the pain of finding a different hosting provider.

UPDATE 11/4/2025
Two days later and I am no further forward with my immediate issue, which is that the new email system appears not to offer POP3 access. A succession of different support people are asking me to try things without properly reading the information I've already given them, as if they had they'd see that I have already tried all these different things and that none of them work.

It appears the support people just want to give some random answer to get rid of you, and then I have to wait hours and hours to get back to the front of the support queue.

It's becoming increasingly clear I probably need to go elsewhere for web hosting.

SECOND UPDATE:
I'm upgrading my rating to two stars, as at least my problem is now finally being taken seriously and has been escalated. Some changes have been made at the server end and I can now apparently connect to the mail server via a POP3 connection. Unfortunately when the email comes through it is completely empty.

I'm a bit more hopeful that eventually some resolution will be found for this particular issue, but I'm still fearful I am going to encounter more show-stopping issues once I actually get as far as trying to transfer my website to the new host.

Update 20/03/2026
There's a happy ending to this sorry tale, but no thanks to EcoWebhosting. Ten days ago I finally got around to transferring our domain to Kualo, and have been able to accomplish more there in the short time since than in the whole of my time with Ecowebhosting. I'm really wondering now why I didn't do it sooner.
