Stay away from Eldan car rental

Stay away from Eldan car rental. They charge my visa few times , without any proper record for the charges. They make up charges like parking tickets or highway charges without showing the original forms.
Stay away.

In case you have problems or question charges, good luck!

If you got a new car and everything was fine with the car, you didn't have to deal with their customer service, you may be happy. I rented several times from them and was satisfied. But then another time I had several problems - with the cars (super old), with the charges, and it was a nightmare! They ignore your email requests. They transfer you 10 times on the phone. If you have any issue on Friday - forget it. Anything that is not a dire emergency won't even be looked into until Sunday (car rental company basically has no customer service 2 days a week). Super frustrating experience.

II asked Eldan three times for a final invoice of the rental which I urgently need for the taxes. The invoice can be sent by e-mail. I waited for more than four weeks without any reply. I also have the impression that Eldan added some amount which is not comprehensible. But I can only check this with a detailed invoice. Maybe this is the reason that they don't send it. Bad after-sales service.

Charges that can't be validated

I rented a car for a week in June 2019 from Eldan car rental in Tel Aviv airport. In Dec 2019, I received an email from them saying that I got a parking ticket from the police during the rental period and they received a copy of this ticket and they charged my credit card with "Handling Fee". I responded saying that I never received any parking ticket and I requested a copy of this parking ticket so I can validate it with the local police. I never received a response back!!!! I disputed the charges with my credit card company and decided to share this story in case other people run into the same the experience.

Eldan rent a car Israel airport be careful

Eldan rent a car Israel airport If I had the chance to give them 0 stars I would. Unfortunately you have to give one because this is the minimum. I would not recommend this rental company to anyone. Don’t rent car from them they will charge your card every month for toll road without stopping you’ll eventually will pay double the price the told you. They charged me also for handling a parking ticket which was paid by me personally at the local post office. Do a favor to yourself and don’t rent a car from them if you want to save your money this company is by far the worst car rental company I ever deal with.

I reserved a nine passenger vehicle for three weeks. After giving me two substandard minivans with faulty air conditioners, they gave me a seven passenger vehicle. I lost half a day of my precious vacation time driving back and forth to the airport rental office. I had to rent an additional vehicle or pay for taxi every time nine of us needed to travel. Eldan's resolution was to give me a measly 10% discount.

Unacceptable service

Do not use!!!! Unacceptable service. If I could give them 0 stars I would. They gave me a car that was dirty, smelly and stalled on the highway. I returned the car as soon as I identified the issue. When I complained and asked for a refund, they said they would give me 10% off my next rental. After several attempts to get someone on the phone I finally got a Cust service agent on the phone who agreed to a refund, but then I dealt with Zohar Berkovitch, the supposed customer service department manager, who would not give me the refund and was utterly unresponsive to my plight. I dealt with Zohar berkovitch over email many times, he claimed he could not call me because of the time difference, and explained the situation in detail and he cared not at all about how his company ruined my vacation in Israel. I will never use El Dan again. It is a company that cares not at all about customer satisfaction. They gave me a broken car and would not take responsibility. DO NOT USE THEM. Look elsewhere.

Stuck in the desert for more than 4 hours

We rented a car from Eldan and got just what we had ordered - which was really nice. It was a newer car and was nice to drive and with enough space for all five of us. But then after a few days suddenly the car broke down in the middle of the desert and it took more than four hours for the mechanic to come and fetch the car and bring us another one - while we were stranded in the middle of nowhere - in the heat and with two children in the car. Every time we spoke with Eldan they kept saying either "in half an hour" or "in ten minutes" - but then four hours later, we really started doubting the time announcements. If it hadn't been for all the nice people driving pass whom stopped and gave us water and candy, it would have been a really rough experience. The other car that we got was an old car, where we could hardly fit in five people and it wasn't in the same car group as we had ordered - and paid for. But when returning the car, we were told that we could not get a refund - even though the second car came without a full tank and we returned in with a full tank - and the fact that it was in a lower car group. I would definitely rethink it, if you are thinking about choosing Eldan for your car rental.

NEVER rent your car via Eldan in Israel

The thing that frightened us the most beforehand unfortunately became true.

Eldan is the most un-transparant company possible for renting cars. The following experience has really given us a headache, without an easy way to solve this since they do not answer phone calls or reply on e-mails.

Originally my girlfriend and I rented a car via Orbitz, which serves as a broker for Eldan. Total costs were said to be 132 $ for the insurance and 49.96 $ for and 11 day car rental. Of this total amount, 132 $ was already paid to Orbitz, whereas the remaining had to be paid to Eldan directly.

The moment we wanted to pick up our car, the guy behind the counter gave us some very un-interested looks and opaque explanations about the whole rental deal and that we had to pay some extra fees. After continuing to ask about the how and what for the extra charges, he could finally explain that in order to have it fully insured car we would have to pay an additional amount of 132 $ (excess waiver). Besides we would have to pay 3 $ extra per day to add a second driver, which comes down to 33 $. Until now everything had been solved, although in a very customer unfriendly way. We agreed with the extra costs since we wanted any stress from possible scratches ending up on the car due to our road trip, which we planned through out Israel.

After trying to return our car, their office suddenly moved to a different place, without letting us now in a sufficient way. We were standing there in front of closed doors. Whereas, our returning location was agreed to be upon that specific location. Fortunately, after ringing the doorbell several times someone finally opened the door, telling us he couldn't take back the car since they have had moved to a different location recenlty. Finally, after we told him this wasn't agreed upfront he accepted to take back the car and return it to the new location himself. Again, all fine, although with some struggles.

After returning home from our holidays however, they suddenly subtracted all kind of weird figures from our creditcard. 432 $ to be precise, which they said was the agreed amount for renting the car. To save all of you from trying the do the math, by contract we only owed them 49.96 + 132 + 33 = 214.96 $ since we already paid Orbitz an amount of 132 $. They subtracted 217.04 $ extra without any valid reason!!!!!???

Now, I have been trying the reach out the them by phone, which they just hang up. By e-mail, to which they don't reply. Never, never rent a car via this fraudulent company.

As a customer there is no way you can win this battle. Better pay a couple of euro's extra and rent it via a more trustworthy company such as Hertz.

Thanks Eldan for giving our fun holiday a bitter aftertaste.

DO NOT RENT FROM ELDAN

I have been a customer of Eldan at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv for a number of years. They have never been great, but have not been particularly bad either. Just like everybody else. However, this past April was last time I rented from them. Never again.

The company has very considerably deteriorated over the past couple of years. Their fleet is currently dominated by poor quality cars from French manufacturers, Peugeot and Renault. Neither do those cars drive well nor are reliable. However, Eldan apparently has so many of them that they basically coerce their customers into renting them — even those customers who know better to stay away from such cars. The rep at the counter would just tell you that nothing else is available at the moment and if you want a different car then you have to wait for an hour. Of course, very few people do that, and those who don't end up in a car that nobody in his or her right mind would think can even exist in the 21st century. I guess these cars that belong to the junkyard right out of the factory gate were offered to Eldan at such a lucrative price that customer satisfaction no longer mattered.

On a short and intense business trip to Israel, the battery in the Renault I rented from Eldan would die every morning. To their credit, they would send a mechanic to replace it. Yet my schedule would still be completely ruined. But this was only part of the problem.

When I returned the car, Eldan refused even to compensate me for the cab that I had to take because of their faulty car. I, of course, did not have the time to argue with them as there was a flight to catch. They, on the other hand, told me a representative would call me within 48 hours to address the issue, which has never happened. Quite the contrary, several days later they placed an additional arbitrary charge to my credit card and claimed it was legitimate as they simply "forgot" to do it earlier. This is a plain outright lie.

To summarize, DO NOT RENT from Eldan. If you do, you will only feel frustrated and dissatisfied.

Eldan Car Rental Company are scammer / Rip-Off; Stay Away!

In May 2018, I was in Israel and rented a car from El Dan (aka Eldan) car rental at BEN Gurion Airport and it was the biggest mistake. They have tried to fraudulently charge my credit card twice now for some toll road fees. They are claiming there was two toll road fees of $12 and they are charging me an additional $20 in “convenience fees.” The Eldan company is trying to scam me. I have emailed them repeatedly and they do not respond. STAY AWAY FROM ELDAN, aka EL DAN!!!!

Worst experience in my long life.

Worst experience in my long life.
Rented a compact car with full insurance coverage. It was a heavily used car and soon has shown problems of breaks and gear. However for a 3 days rental I choose to carry on. Then it broke in the middle of the road in a town. Almost 6 hours for getting help after many unuseful attempts (they did not believe the car was broken, gear disconnected). 1 day lost waiting near the car on their advice. Very unprofessional for the help on the road action. On return, they finallly charged extrafuel and some other extracosts not explained in Hebrew, many days after our departure. 3 times the expected costs without accounting for problems not depending on us. Many emails for explanations, no reply, no reasons for their problems, wasted time. Bad experience, bad car, bad service. People meet on the road helped much more. Try to avoid as much as possible.

THEY CHARGED 3 TIMES MORE

To whom it may concern,
I am writing you regarding my booking with reference number 589909246.
I paid the price requested 67,69 dollars through easycar.com and I rented the car. At Ben Gurion airport Eldan-Enterprise counter, they asked me whether I want an insurance for the car rented and I gave the answer no. At the airport, i paid also the airport service charge which is 39 dollars (so 67,69 dollars+39 dollars in total).
On my bank statement of this month, I see that you charged me an additional fee of 170,60 dollars besides the amount 67,69 dollars+40 dollars that i paid during my checkout on website and at aiport without any reason!! I am asking immediately for a refund!
There is no explanation to that, otherwise I will take immediate actions against your company.

No baby seats while confirmed

I made a car reservation 1 week on forehand including 2 baby seats, which I got confirmed by email voucher. When we arrived at the Eldan desk we where told they don't have the baby seats, so we were not able to use the car because baby seats are needed by law and of course for safety. The guy at the desk felt sorry but, tried to help, but didn't had a solution and was not able to call a manager because of the holidays. Now after 6 days I still didn't received my money back, so I will contact my credit card company to fix it. Luckily when I asked 4 other car rental desks (which cost a lot of time) Avis was able to provide a car and baby seats. This costs a lot of frustration, extra money by renting at the desk by Avis, and a lot of time to ask around for a solution.

Will never rent from Eldan again

After having some car troubles during my trip to Israel, it took Eldan 5 HOURS to get us a replacement car after being stuck on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. Customer service is absolutely horrible and unacceptable. The cars themselves are clearly not cleaned between uses...so gross.

If you're looking for an easy, pleasant, and accommodating rental car experience, DO NOT rent from Eldan. Horrible service.

Never rent from Eldan again

My family and I planned a day trip to Jerusalem at the beginning of our 8-day vacation in Israel. Approximately 30 minutes before arriving to our destination, we stopped at a gas station at 10:15am. After a quick stop, we gathered back in the car, put the keys in the ignition, but the car wouldn't start. We called Eldan customer service and the man on the phone said that it may be a glitch in the system. He instructed us to wait 15 minutes to allow it to reset, so we did exactly as he said but the car still did not start. We called him back and he explained that we should expect a technician to arrive to our location within 20 minutes. After 30 minutes of waiting, no one had arrived. We called again and we were told that the technician had just left and it will be another 20 minutes.
After an additional 30 minutes (at 11:30am), he arrived and checked the car. After 20 minutes of attempting to troubleshoot, he was not able to resolve the matter. He instructed us to call Eldan again and request a replacement car. Then he drove off without offering any immediate solutions to transport us to a more populated area while we wait.
After calling Eldan again, we were told that they will send us a replacement car that should be expected to arrive within 2-3 hours. We explained to them that we had already been stuck for almost 2 hours at a gas station in the middle of nowhere in windy, freezing weather with two young (and jet lagged) children, ages 5 and 2. We asked if they would send us a taxi in the meantime to transport us to Jerusalem in hopes of avoiding a wasted day in the cold, on the side of a highway… but they refused. We then offered to pay for a taxi with our own money and asked if they would bring the replacement car to us, but they again refused. After practically begging them, the woman on the phone finally promised that we were at the top of their priority list and they will arrive within an hour or less. However, much to our dismay, no one had arrived within an hour. We called Eldan 6 times throughout this entire experience, each time being lied to about how long it would take. They showed no concern about the fact that they had trapped us in the middle of nowhere without offering any alternate solutions, completely ruining an entire day of our trip. At 1:00pm we called again and they said that it will be ANOTHER hour and a half. We tried to understand why, but they simply continued lying to us, offering absolutely no viable explanation. Finally, at 2:30pm (after waiting a total of 4 HOURS) the replacement car had arrived. To add on to this exhausting and infuriating experience, the replacement car we received had not been cleaned and had a pungent smell of dog hair.

Aside from this day, when we initially rented the car they didn't even have proper car seats for the children- all of them were clearly not cleaned in between uses, covered in stains, and most were not even suitable for the car we were driving.

I will NEVER rent from Eldan again and I will make sure that all family and friends of mine will do the same.
