If you encounter even the smallest …

If you encounter even the smallest problem, overcharged and need to communicate with them after you leave it will cost you sweat and blood, customer service is at the lowest.
Best you will get is leaving 5 messages with no outcome!

Quick car collection but double rip-off at the end

I used Eldan before, however car rentals with any company at Ben-Gurion airport are never a trouble-free experience.
Considering late night, car collection from Eldan was super fast. Petrol was almost full (I noticed this and took a picture) though marked as full in the papers. The car is parked quite far from the office, so you have to accept it as it is or spend time and money on calls and waiting.
The car itself (Peugeot 2008) had the worst gear box ever, though Eldan can only be blamed for their choice. Japanese and Korean cars generally had no issues and were fuel efficient.
When returning the car I was only told that everything was OK and that the invoice will arrive by e-mail. It did - a month later.
Though I returned the car with more fuel than received, it was considered not full, so extra charge for petrol at ridiculous prices. I am sure it was not filled up but was used to add fuel charges to the next customer.
The quote was in pounds, with no option to select currency. However, the invoice was in dollars, so conversion rates and credit card fees added pounds. I could have paid in dollars, if this option was available.
It was not a major rip-off but it is a humiliating practice and I will avoid Eldan. Their quote was not the cheapest by the way.

They do not care about problems caused to customers by dud cars that break down!

have used Eldan for the last 10 years about twice per year and have always had good service and well maintained cars.

They were recently taken over by Enterprise Car Rental, I was hoping things would not go downhill, but my recent experience makes me think it probably has.

After an overnight flight on which I got no sleep on, I picked up the car. 45 minutes after picking it up I stopped my journey to rest and get a coffee because I was tired and getting too dangerous to drive.

However after my coffee, the car would not start, the starter motor worked, but the engine did not get going.

It is very expensive for me to call Eldan Enterprise car rental because of mobile phone roaming charges and so I asked them if we could be as quick and efficient as possible, because of the huge cost of me calling them and also of receiving calls from them.

However I got passed through 4 people, each person asking me the same questions to find my account.

Eventually a South African lady and an Israeli gentleman at Eldan Enterprise Car Rental were good. They asked me questions about how I had tried to start the car and what happened.

They despatched a person to come and sort it out.

However after almost 2 hours he just put the key in, tried to start it and said it would not start, I would need a new car, he would tell customer services and just drove off.

So he had just done what I had done in person, only what I had done on the phone with them.

He came in a van which I would hope have tools, even as a lay person I know the first thing to do is remove the spark plugs to see if the engine is flooded with fuel and so on.

So more calls, very high mobile phone charges and I discover I will get a replacement car. However by then I am so tired I am worried that I would be unsafe to drive as it had been so long since I had slept.

The man who did the car changeover seemed hurried and was okay, but not great. It appears the best people are in customer services and the rest are not to well trained.

On dropping off the car, the staff were indifferent to my problem.

-How it had cost me 70 UK pounds ($135 US dollars) to make all the calls to them

-they had given me a dud car

-almost 4 hours of pushing on the side of a motorway to get them to sort it out

-it had affected a 6 and 3 year old child and was not safe

-their behaviour had left me almost unsafe to drive due to the length of the ordeal after an overnight flight, being based in an airport for travellers coming off planes they should appreciate this

Only when I asked for the supervisor did he even acknowledge any issue, but he would not discuss it and just said he would pass it to the branch manager who would contact me by email. This was only once I said I would be writing my experiences on Trip Advisor.

However no one has ever contacted me, the branch manager has not contacted me as they promised. They have just shown that at all levels of the branch they do not care.

My problem is not how they changed the car, it could have been better but was not bad.

The problem is that they gave me a dud car and Eldan Enterprise Car Rental probably knew that! Another person has said that if a customer does not speak hebrew and is a tourist, they will often fob them off with the least good car as a local will realise it is in such bad condition and not take it. It is likely that this happened here.

I may use them again as they have been good before, but next time will probably use another car rental company in Israel. If they would speak to me about the problem, then hopefully we can resolve it and could use them again. I have given them a charitable 2 stars because of their previous performance. However if this was to happen again it would be a 1 star and much worse review.

How can I get them to go over the issues I have had, how can I use their service again when there is this big problem that I cannot trust their service, they will not address problems and I am so out of pocket for what they have done? How can I even get them to talk to me?
