Ellis & Co Tonbridge Reviews 

Despite being responsible, communicative tenants who looked after the property and even made improvements at our own cost using the agent’s approved contractors, our experience with Ellis & Co was very poor.

Throughout the tenancy, communication was frequently slow and issues that directly affected us were not handled well. Most notably, after reporting a broken oven in December, we were left without one for several weeks. Even the maintenance team acknowledged and apologised for the delay, explaining it was due to the landlord attempting to avoid the cost of replacement.

These issues were compounded at the end of the tenancy. We experienced prolonged delays, lack of communication and unprofessional behaviour during the checkout and deposit process. Our deposit was not handled within the timeframe set out in our tenancy agreement and deductions were raised late and without clear explanation, despite a positive checkout report confirming the property — including the garden — was well maintained.

A formal complaint was sent to the Managing Director and was ignored entirely, leaving us no option but to escalate the matter externally.

Tenants should not have to chase repeatedly for basic updates or be left in limbo after vacating a property. The experience was stressful, disappointing and fell well below the standard expected from a professional letting agent. I would strongly caution others to think carefully before renting through this agency.

I leased a property on Hectorage Road for a year, the whole experience was great and this was in no small part thanks to Adam and Daisy at Ellis & Co. They were a pleasure to deal with, and as this was my first time leasing they helped me at every stage of the process. Would highly recommend.

Avoid this agency if you want to have peace of mind. You have to chase them all the time for informations and you basicaly have to do theyr job . They are usseles and speak like robots. They become rude when are chalenged. Only want to take your money and they mislead and lie letting people understand that everithing is allrigt when is not. If you dont know the laws make sure you speak thru emails and not by phone with them as this you will need for evidence later.

Just to say all at Ellis and co have been great and it was an (unusual) pleasure to deal with you. Estate and letting agents don’t have a good reputation ‘most of the time’.

I have been renting a property out through Ellis and Co for nine months now and they have been fantastic. Daisy is excellent at her job, she is always organised and is a pleasure to deal with. If any issues with the property arise they have a great team of tradesmen they work with to fix them. I could not recommend them any more

I loved their professionalism and their polite manner in the way they dealt with me and certainly helped make the process as hassle-free as possible. Excellent Cusotmer Service. Thanks to Tom and his team at Ellis and Co, my family were able to go ahead and buy our first home during a particularly difficult and strange period due to the pandemic. As first time buyers, we found the team were always on hand to help answer any questions we had about the process from start to finish, including surveying and solicitors. The sellers were particularly difficult and anxious but the team were supportive and understanding of both us, and the seller, being a fantastic intermediary during a particularly stressful sale. A particular thank you to Lynn Fermor in getting this one over the line.

As a first time buyer I have been extremely impressed by the service Ellis & Co Tonbridge have provided, they exceeded all expectations. have been renting a house through Ellis & Co in Tonbridge now for 5 and a half years and will now be moving into my own home next month. From the start they have done all they can to accommodate any issues or needs from me including getting plumbers round, providing replacement appliances and generally anything required all being provided very quickly. I have mainly dealt with Caroline and she has been so nice, friendly and helpful. Tom (proprietor) has also always been there in Caroline’s absence to step in and help where needed. As either a landlord or a Tennant I would have no issue in recommending Ellis & Co to anyone, they have the exact right balance between the Tennant and the Landlord and manage any issues very professionally with everyone’s interests to heart (something that cannot be said about all letting agents.. ) My time renting in the Haydens Tonbridge is now done and I would like to say a big thank you to Caroline, Tom and all in the office for the first class service I have received over the last 5 and a half years. Absolutely awful!
Couldn’t recommend less to go through them. All they want is money and therefore will always take landlord side and be absolutely absurd and rude and do anything for them.
Our contract is also full of mistake after had a good reading through it. If you want to avoid any trouble, stress, harsle, do not go with this agency! If anything happens, if there’s a problem in the flat you are renting, they won’t help, they will take the landlord side even on the most absurd situation.
