Our business model is to firstly give our clients the best experience in there time of need and to raise the quality of service being given by trying to make contractors do a better job. EPHG currently have over 60,000 clients, 8 staff taking the calls and hundreds of contractors being a national company covering an estimated area of 98%. Even though our terms and rates are available online, we verbally explain the rates, take a deposit, ask our clients to reply to a text or an email in writing to confirm the agreement including rates over the phone before we start the work. If we don't get a written agreement, our clients can ask for the payment to be voided the same day or a refund any other day. Our aim is to raise the quality of service in many individuals with highly trained staff by trying to make sure you don't full prey to potential crooks or unprofessional trades.

Absolutely brilliant

Absolutely brilliant! Had water gushing from under kitchen cabinets, within an hour engineer had attended and fixed the issue with no fuss. Very grateful and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend!!

Did the job but there was confusion…

Did the job but there was confusion with the charges.
Deposit they take is not actually a deposit which will go against the cost of labour. It is a separate charge to the company. The real service provider will charge you separately. It was not clear at all when i called them to get quotes and when they took the payment over phone. In my case the total cost was more than doudle from what i expected.

First of all, I'm sorry for the way you feel about our service and after all, these reviews are here to try and make business's work better.

After looking at this review, my concerns are that this review doesn't benefit our company or make it work better in any way because your regret seems to be around the wording 'deposit'.

In your review, you mention that the deposit we take is not actually a deposit but I'm sorry to say, the deposit we take is actually a deposit, it's just your understanding of the word 'deposit'.

I'm fully aware of this reviewer as we communicated by email as the reviewer mention they are going to let people know on the first complaint which we tried putting right by showing this person the facts in a polite way by pointing out the dictionary to the word 'deposit', but it seems this person didn't take any notice. I don't mean that in a negative impolite way as this review should be in the interests of any future clients reading our clients review about us.

With over 60,000 clients, we run a very professional business model which includes sending our clients a text with the rates before we start work and for them to confirm the costs so there is no deception at all which is what we did with this particular client of ours. It's just this particular client didn't understand the wording 'deposit' and thought that this individual would get their money back because it was a deposit.

I understand some people think that the word deposit means that they would get there deposit back because in some cases, some people do get their money back but this was never mentioned with this particular client and maybe our clients experience with deposits have been somewhat different.

The true meaning of a deposit for a service being carried out is that as long as the service is being carried out, the deposit then goes on the service and in this case, it being on the callout fee that was mentioned in the text to our client which our client responded to the text to confirm.

Hopefully this review will go towards helping others that misunderstand the word deposit.

Our business model is a professional company that does our upmost to upper our clients experience in a service to a higher standard and for the bar for contractors to be more professional.

We did offer our client a phone call as we believe our client would've been much happier which we believe would've ended up with either no review or more stars but our client didn't seem to want to take up this offer.

My advice to all clients when making a complaint is to send an email to martin@ephg.limited and put your complaint in writing of which I will reply in writing, but also give us the chance to be able to speak to you over the phone.

We are a big business with about 8 staff answering the calls and a lot of individual contractors we assign to your emergencies.

Brilliant Service

I call EPHG Ltd at 9 in the evening, my radiator valve broke and was leaking they came out in quickly and repaired it. They answered all my questions and offered some very useful advice. I can’t recommend them highly enough

The engineer Ashley

The engineer Ashley, came to my address and found the problem with gas fire within minutes, he also cleaned the dirt and grime, and left the fire working better than it has been for some time. Excellent service excellent engineer who was fast, and courteous throughout his time with me

Pricey but good service, burst pipe replaced.

Called for a burst pipe in our bathroom. The split pipe was found and a repair made, but took over two hours to arrive. We were kept fully informed though by the call handler, which was appreciated, and as we had turned the water off no harm was done. Not cheap, but I suppose 24 hour emergency call outs rarely are. The plumber who came was friendly and worked well.

Called about a water pipe that I…

Called about a water pipe that I stupidly hammered a nail through. It was a Sunday and could not find a plumber to help us. Luckily these found an engineer to come to our rescue. Was there promptly and sort it all out. Thanks.

Emergency Saturday Night Plumbing Hero’s

So tonight while doing some DIY, I drilled straight a main water feed pipe for the central heating, safe to say water everywhere, so I called EPHG Limited and a great guy called Joe arrange for a last minute call out Gas Safe Plumber to come to the rescue, Craig fixed the pipe I drilled into and sorted out the central heating afterwards, safe to say professional, honest, got straight to work, and very punctual. I highly recommend them and if a job is worth doing it’s worth doing by these guys. Thanks again for such a fast turnaround to help us.

A good experience

Mr Shaw took my call at 8.30 pm, led me through a series of technological mishaps which made confirmation of booking at my end difficult, and sent me a charming and helpful engineer the next morning.

A leak from the bedroom ceiling…

A leak from the bedroom ceiling discovered at 12.30 at night, couldn't locate anyone to help at that time so switched off water and told Ben and it was suggested I ring first thing, rang at 7.15 am and a plumber called Chris Scrivens came an hour later. He had to crawl a way along the loft (large bungalow) which he did and found the reason for the leak - plastic pipe mouse gnawed. He replaced it and wrapped tinfoil around the new piece to hopefully prevent mice doing it again. He was professional and effective.

EPHG is very professional company to…

EPHG is very professional company to deal with... but... I'm slightly disappointed with the service received from the gas engineer that came out to our broken boiler. George came after 70mins since the job allocation, told me to "just relax and I will fix your boiler". He then spent 20mins trying to bring our boiler back to life but with no success. It was 6:20pm on Monday and I was told there will be no heating for the night and he would call me "after 8am" the next morning to provide a quote for the part and labour needed. So I spent a lot of money for an emergency plumber, and was only told what I knew already! The boiler is broken! Aha! Thanks, but I kind of expected some sort of temporary solution so we could have a heating for the night. We've got a toddler so we needed to arrange alternative home at last minute for the baby, as 14C in our own house is not comfortable for anyone to sleep in. George has not call me the next morning(!!!), so my wife chased him at 9am. After some communication exchange he eventually came around lunchtime and replaced the faulty part (another invoice!) so the boiler seems to be working now. All in all, I spent a lot of money and I don't mind that if it's emergency situation but I expect some results. Promising the customer something and then not delivering it yet charging the customer "for investigation" does not make a happy face.

This seems a fair review and hope you don't get any further problems through the Winter.

I believe most people ignore the 5 star reviews and read the 1 to 4 star reviews more, for this reason, I think it is good to point out or remind clients that an estimated 70% of boilers are fixed on site where an estimated 30% of them require special parts ordering and then further work being required with an estimated 3 days wait but could be done much sooner or longer.

If the engineer promised to make a visit in the morning and didn't keep to that promise, I do think this is a poor service which I would like to look into if you want to send us an official complaint to martin@ephg.limited as I would like to question George on this (Please note: we have a few called George on our system as we have about 200 regular engineers and rest are as not so regular. However, I'm glad that your boiler is now working.

Please note: Engineers can ask for payment of the first visit but where asked, our clients can ask for the invoice to be delayed up to 14 days in accordance to the law, I hope this helps any further clients.

This means the first invoice and the second could be added together as one.

Brilliant response to a very urgent problem

I had a need for urgent help on a Saturday evening for a boiler failure to operate. I was let down by British Gas with who I have a central heating maintenance contract with. I therefore phoned EPHG who were very busy and no one locally available, but because I have a disabled wife and no heating in the house arranged for an engineer to attend from over 40 miles away in Oxford. He arrived within 2 hours after a long journey and within 5 minutes found that the problem was not the boiler but the motorised valve actuator which was faulty. He managed to make a temporary repair as he did not carry a spare 3 port actuator on his van. He therefore recommended to me where to obtain one quickly the next day.
He left the boiler operating and it continued to run successfully until I managed to get a new activator fitted today. I highly recommend this company as very professional and a joy to work with. They kept me informed every step of the way via text and phone calls. Exceptional company.

Needed an emergency plumber owing to a…

Needed an emergency plumber owing to a leaking pipe, call handler was very friendly, took all the details and used a really informative text service to keep me up to date. Plumber got in touch within 10 minutes and I was able to send pictures to him to show what the issue was (so he could ensure he had all the correct parts he might need with him!). He arrived very quickly after that and the leak was resolved in no time.
I also sent an email earlier today for a copy of my call out fee invoice and this was handled extremely quickly and efficiently. Definitely recommend this company for a quick, polite and efficient service in your time of need!

Excellent service

Calling out an emergency electrician on Sunday afternoon/evening callout isn't cheap, but on this occasion we got our money's worth: Ross arrived within the time we were told, identified and isolated the fault and got everything else working again in just over an hour, and gave us a clear explanation of what we now need to replace or fix. He was friendly and efficient and we were very happy with him and EPHG.

Repair of leaking pipe

I found EPHG provided a very helpful and efficient service when I discovered a leaking water pipe on a Saturday evening. The switchboard handler was clear and friendly, and called me back as soon as he had located a suitable plumber. The emergency plumber, Niels Rasmussen, was polite, friendly and efficient, quickly identified the source of the leak and carried out an effective repair. Overall an excellent service.

5 star service

I was initially a little nervous about contacting them especially paying for the call out fee upfront. But I can't praise them enough for the quick response over the phone to sending our lovely engineer Stewart within the hour.
I had spent ages trying to get an emergency plumber/heating engineer out to fix a leaking emersion tank. Thanks guys.... You certainly saved my morning panic!!

Water leaking through kitchen ceiling from bathroom above

Had gone midnight and the pipework to one of our bathroom taps decided to spring a leak. First class service from EPHG who arranged an emergency plumber who got to us within the hour and fixed what could have turned into a bit of a nightmare as we couldn’t isolate the water supply. Plumber very professional and helpful. Highly recommend. Will definitely use EPHG again.

Excellent service. Recommend.

Was let down by British Gas. Discovered I had a leaking pipe in downstairs cupboard, in the afternoon and BG said would treat as emergency as leaking on to electrics and some one would be out. By night time, still no contact from BG and leak getting profusely worse. Couldn't get in touch with anyone at BG, so, needed emergency plumber gone midnight.... Found an advert for them in local free booklet, called forget me not and called. Ben answered the phone and was very helpful and arranged in few minutes for a plumber to come out to me and review/ carry out the necessary repair. Very nice gentlemen by the name of Robert and he had repaired the pipe in no time at all. If you ever find yourself in a situation where you desperately need help for a plumbing issue, call these guys. You won't be disappointed. Very pleased.
