Eric Smith - Bolton. The worst experience of my life. No communication for months. After 3 month of constantly emailing and calling (nobody ever answers the phone or replies to voicemail) call from a solicitor who told me she was new and the solicitor who had been dealing with my case had left. Repeatedly asked for documentation when it had been sent to them previously. Dreadful spelling in e-mails from the London Team. My house purchase took nearly 5 months in all. I would never recommend this company to anybody as I would hate them to suffer as I did.

I will say a superb service from Eric Smith Law especially from Stephen Ablett. I had few issues with my Mortgage and other documentations. But Steve gone through everything one by one and explained me all the issues and tried to solve all problems. He was even working very late and did reply my emails even at 10pm. What a dedicated solicitor! He managed to sort out the last minute issues and completed the whole process on time. I will give 10 out of 10 and would definitely recommend anyone I know.

Honestly the worst experience of my life and I’m still in it.
We have everything we need to complete on our purchase of a property and they have deleted the email address of our solicitor handling our account and won’t answer any other email or phone call.
The buyers are threatening to pull out and we currently have everything we need to complete so we risk losing the property because of them because they are ignoring us and if we find another solicitors we will have to start the process again, which gets us the same result, the buyers pulling out.
They have honestly been worse than you can imagine and I am still stuck with no clear solution.
Save yourself do not chose these people.

Stephen Ablett has been fantastic throughout the whole process. He has always answered my queries promptly and have delivered an excellent, professional and reassuring service. We were first time buyers and he always made us feel that we were in good hands. Would definitely recommend to anyone I know.

Disgraceful communication and service. Working with this firm, specifically Harjeet Singh Bhalru, was an incredibly stressful ordeal. I could never get hold of anyone, I would ring 10-20 times a day to Harjeet, to different office locations of the firm, to other extensions provided to solicitors at the firm, to which no one would reply. I sent multiple emails a day in an attempt to get a response about urgent issues. I would do this for weeks at a time with no reply. I followed the complaint procedure and contacted Imran Rashid, but got no response. I had purchased an auction property which had a deadline to complete before penalties were applied and I could loose the £10000 auction fee, which made the fact I couldn’t communicate with anyone about the progress highly stressful.
We did manage to complete the purchase, only after I relentlessly chased Harjeet for progress. I’ve now been sent a fine from the tax office saying my land registration documents were not filed in time, which was Harjeets responsibility to file for us. I’ve tried to get in touch about this, but of coarse I cannot get hold of anyone and my emails are continuously ignored. I hope I can save someone else from having to go through the stress I did working with this firm.

Not a very good start with Eric Smiths to be honest, 3 solicitors all together which I wouldn't have minded if I would have been kept up to date with what was happening, very stressful until Mohammad A Nathanie took over. Polite, professional and got the job done, kept me up to date and answered all my questions. Even chased me on the phone when I didn't answer his emails so there wouldn't be any more delays.

I wish to truly recommend Stephen Ablett and Eric Smith Law. I can assure you that I had one of the worst cases in history due to the complete unprofessionalism from the opposite management company and Stephen has been an example of efficiency, kindness and proffesionalism. I would and will recommend him to anyone thinking of buying a place and have been fully satisfied. He was always available, reachable and in a kind mood. He kept me updated, and checked even after completion on how everything is. 10/10 !

Erich H Smith was on my Mortgage Company approved Lawyers list and performed exceptional service. Stephen was very thorough explaining legal points in Plain English. I would use this lawyer again for a property purchase.

Completed with Stephen over the bank holiday weekend. It wasn't the smoothest but not down to Erichsmith, Stephen kept us abreast of the circumstances at all times and took my call every time I rang, found him to be genuine and helpful.

We found Eric Smith Solicitors through a price comparison Website online and were unsure what to expect at first but were very pleasantly surprised by the service we received from Stephen! He was always at the end of the phone when we rang and was certainly ‘on it’ every time we had any questions on the progress. Quick and efficient service, thank you very much!

Once I was put in touch with Stephen Ablett, the purchase proceeded without any hassle or delay. Stephen was responsive and helpful right the way through

I've dealt with a few conveyancing firms. This firm was the worst, by a mile.

Harjeet Singh Bhalru was assigned to my case and he was a disaster. Unreachable, took ages to answer simple questions. Then disappeared between exchange and completion.

Worst of all, he and the Eric Smith office failed to pay stamp duty on time. They ended up paying HMRC's fines. Harjeet also failed to deliver proper notices to the freeholder on time, resulting in a 1.5 month delay to our refurbishment projects.

Not sure what their issue is, but clients shouldn't be the victims of this incompetence. Avoid.

Mohammad deal with our case was great, he had a dead line to wprk to. And he got us in are house.

Only down side was the extra charges, We were Quoted one Price and we got 100% mark up on the full price. So i would ask more Questions.

But like I say the guy dealing with our case mohammed was absolutely fantastic And he deserves the 5 stars alone

I used this law firm because the quote they provided was very competitive. I was assigned Stephen Ablett from the Bolton office and can’t fault the service I received. As a first time buyer I had no idea about the process but Stephen talked me through every step. From being assigned the case to completion was approximately 8 weeks.

Stephen Ablett has been amazing!!! Have guided me from the beginning to the end of the purchase of my property. He has emailed me and often times even called me to explain everything. I had the cheapest quote from this solicitors and they did everything you would want them to do. I'm very grateful specifically to Mohammad A Nathaniel who took over my case at the end and work tiresly on his leave and overnight to ensure the deadlines are met. Thank you 🙂

My experience mirrored that of so many others who have reviewed one star below. I have had to deal with the London Team.
No communication for months - ignored my emails and voicemails until I said I will contact ombudsman services (which I will be doing next). To be honest, the quality of communication at the beginning should have made me realise this is not a well run business - really poor basic grammar skills - reading the emails was like trying to solve a mystery. I have lost near enough £300. I have had to instruct a new solicitor (who has already been amazing in comparison to this firm). AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Who knows? Perhaps the people sitting at this so called London Office are genuine people coming to earn a living every day. However, they are not up to the job - be that from a lack of experience, qualifications, time or pressure is hard to know. But they are certainly not in a position to be running this business or providing this service.
