1 star rating is too much for Connells…
1 star rating is too much for Connells in Bedford. They are forceful, misleading and act illegally. I got a call from their mortgage advisor 3 times and quiete forcefully when I clearly said I had a mortgage arranged. Then sadly I saw a property I really liked and wanted to make an offer. They wasted my time making me see it and then when I made an offer they said I needed to see their mortgage advisor so he can see the papers etc and ensure I can afford to get a mortgage etc. Me having an agreement in principle is no use to them obviously. They then said all this is to "protect our vendors really". The entire team is useless - not sure why sellers use such rubbish estate agents when there are other better ones.
VERY BAD SERVICE
In september 2020 connells in pound way cowley oxford were engaged by my brother to sell my mothers house. At first they would not talk to me, only my brother. Eventually we started to have viewings. Now with Covid 19 we were told to open doors and windows. We followed correct procedure, but on October 15th i received a call from one of their agents. Apparently someone they were showing round, turned the tap on snapped it off and emptied the hot water tank. I went to connells on the same day, and was told to sort it out and they would pay for the damage. I bought some taps and a plumber done the work on the 16th October. On October the 16th i gave the bills for both at connells, and they said they would sort out payment. WELL GUESS WHAT. House got sold still did not get my money. YES 16 WEEKS FOR £79.95. Anyway had to instruct my solicitor to take it out of there commission or i would not have been paid for it.
Take your business elsewhere!
Myself and my brother have been trying to buy our 1st home, and there was a property that we were really interested, however upon enquiring about a property Connells, Paignton were really forceful into seeing their mortgage advisor. This was after telling them we had already 2 mortgage in principles with other lenders. They then tried to still go ahead in booking up an appointment with their mortgage advisor. In the end we have made the decision to not go ahead with a viewing.
I'm really disappointed that we were unable to view this property and WOULD NOT RECOMMEND using Connells Paignton to anyone who is thinking of dealing with Connells.
Poor service all round
What can I say about them other than awful, absolutely a waste of time. Sign you up with promises of great communication, what’s at their disposal, what they’ll do for you, reality is none of it happens. You never see or hear from your initial contact again, you have to constantly chase them up for everything. Even if they get a buyer for you they don’t do their due diligence, you have to make suggestions to them because they are too inept to think of them for themselves.
Stick with smaller independent agents who actually give a toss about selling your property.
If I could put -1 I would.
If I could put -1 I would.
Very bad experience, communication and the agent has disappeared as well. We done lot of paperwork to mortgage adviser for no reason. Also the house is sold even we put a fair offer in. They did not let us know where we are at just sold the property without even notify us. Very bad and unacceptable. Please do not use this agency. They are disgraceful.
Fantastic experience, well looked after
I have just put a deposit down on a flat to rent with Connells in Malvern. Our estate agent Jade was absolutely fantastic, she kept in close contact with us after we had registered an interest in renting in the area and when the right property came up she instantly booked us a viewing ahead of the property going on the market. She went above and beyond for us and was extremely helpful and easy to talk to throughout the whole process. An excellent estate agent, couldn't be better! Thank you Jade!
DO NOT USE CONNELLS
DO NOT USE CONNELLS
If you are looking to Let your Property - go elsewhere.

I could list my complaints but need to keep the blood pressure down. Urgh. Agents are supposed to take the stress out of Letting - NOT Induce STRESS.
DON'T USE CONNELLS ESTATE AGENTS
I used Connells as letting agents in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire in June2019. They offered me a client who was rejected on their system, never discussed the problem with the tenants application and I signed their contract to allow the tenant the tenancy. The tenant paid 3 months in advance rent plus one month's deposit. This was contradicting to what I was informed that they would take 3 months deposit and monthly rentals as the tenant could not provide references. At the time of letting the tenant advices that their will be just himself staying with his sin visiting him from time to time.
On his second rental due date, 3 days prior to paying he emails Connells that due to his circumstances changing he is ending the tenancy. Connells do a visit which they were suppose to initially every month which they never did, the Agent finds the tenant's wife and 3 children still staying in the house. This wife was illegal immigrant having given birth to 3 children in UK. Cut the story short, I advised Connells not to act on my behalf as I will deal with this matter myself. It took 7 months through the local Council to get the occupants out.
I have been requesting Connells since July 2020 to transfer the deposit to my account as the tenant has not given empty house and is still liable for the rent. They advised that I have to wait 3 months, thereafter another 10 days before the deposit can be transferred. When the initial 10 day period approached, Connells Estate Agents are asking me to provide proof that the tenant has not paid the rent and obtain from THEIR office an arrears statement. I advised them to obtain the statement from their office without me requesting as it would be quicker. No that was not possible but I did e-mail their office to supply the statement to me on 20/11/2020. I receive an e-mail from their Finance Deoartment that they can not obtain the statement and I have to request it. So far in
days their has been no reply to my request for statement. Hence I send another e-mail to their Arrears department to which I get an automated e-mail that due to the pandemic situation it will take them 5 days to response. IS THIS A JOKE?
Question is why did I have to wait 3 months before the process could start for refunding the deposit? And why another 10 days whenever that 10 days starts, when they already know that the tenant has done a runner.
I would strongly advise anybody wanting a letting or estate agent to not to use Connells. All you have is more headache.
Renting a property from Connells
I have just received confirmation from Connells estate agents in Wolverhampton that i can collect the keys to my new rented property next week. I am extremely impressed with their high level of service.
I would also like to say a big thank you to Kelly, Charlotte and Kealey for providing me with a five star service.
They are always more than happy to answer any questions that i may have regarding the tenancy. I would highly recommend Connells estate agents to anyone.
I would never use Connells again for…
I would never use Connells again for the following two reasons
( 1 ) I used Connells to sell my house but as the contract finished I found a buyer myself. Spoke to Connells about this and they pointed out that the contract automatically rolls over until you give them notice ( I believe a month ) if you don't give notice the contract effectivly runs for ever so be aware of this fact.
(2) The buyer of my home is a young lady who is a first time buyer and was told by Connells that it was a condition of me accepting her offer that she used the same solicitors as me. As you can imagane the solicitors in question, Premier Property, were a choice of Connells.I had not in fact instructed any solicitor at the time and had never contacted Premier Property. Later on I did instruct a firm of solicitors who had acted for me before.
Further down the road I found out what occured and complained to Connells that the sale could have been jeopardised due to their dishonesty and asked them to comment. We went through their in house complaint process, and despite overwhelming evidence proving that they had lied, they concluded that Connells had done nothing wrong.
I am now in the process of having the property ombudsman's office investigate my complaint and provide resolution.
My advice is not to use Connells as they are dishonest, lie & deceive.
Absolute disgrace
Absolute disgrace! I finally had a chance to get on the property ladder via the HTB equity scheme, Connells valued the property 45k lower then the offered price of the new build. The developer would market the properties in line with market price, I was expecting +- £5k, but 45k?! advice to my fellow humans, especially those who can finally get on ladder with the HTB, do not use a lender that uses connells!!!!!!
STAY AWAY!!
Very disappointed indeed. Does not even deserve this 1 star!
- No heating (boiler broken) - no interest in fixing, was told it was working prior to moving in and that it was our fault!
- No hot water - again, no interest in getting fixed.
- Completely uninhabitable - only stayed 2 nights + lost first months rent - we are completely entitled to this money back!!
- Not cleaned before we moved in (even after requesting this was done)
After sending an email with photos of all the issues and broken parts found in the flat (that weren't bought to light before moving in!) we received an extremely rude response with fowl language from Amarit Kalsi from the Slough store again blaming it all on us with no interest in fixing any of these issues.
Even this star is too much
Even this star is too much! I was in touch whith them 2 weeks for a flat( telling them from the beggin that we are a family woth 4 members )and during this time they delayed the booking for viewing( telling that they don’t have permit from the administrator of the building, they are waiting the keys from the landlord etc). I call them 3 days in a row to arrange the view , every single day i heard different story from the same “agent” or whatever is his position, and today after 2 callings to find out that the “building administrator is not happy with 4 adults in 2 bedroom flat” . Is so difficult to receive a call to find this information? Terrible communication and service ... For 2020 is a shame to be treat like this ....
SELLERS BEWARE
SELLERS BEWARE! WHY I CANCELLED WITHIN 14 DAYS:
- They only care about you instructing them.
- They will OVERVALUE your property to make you happy and tell you you'll sell quick, do not believe it.
- If you say you're unhappy you will be told by James the branch manager that he disagrees rather than apologising.
- If you're told you'll get a call with feedback, don't expect to get the call.
- They allowed a family of 5 (3 children) into my home, inc the agent, myself and my parterner that makes 8, the current government rules is 6 people. The children were running around my garden and touching a lot around my house. Gives me no faith in the control they maintain (or lack thereof) during viewings and I would NEVER let them show someone around without me there.
- If you complain about something (such as the above) they will not reply to your email, apologise or even acknowledge your complaint.
- For the 1.2% they want in fees you'd expect some sort of common courtesy and a reasonable level customer service, you wont get it.
- If you say you're considering cancelling within the 14 day cooling off period, they won't ask what they can do to keep your business, they will just let you go, showing they don't really care about their customers or business and they only want you to instruct them for their numbers.
We cancelled within our 14 day cooling off period after the property being live for less than a week and have decided to take the purplebricks route so we can handle everything ourselves because they gave us no faith in the service they provide.
Lesson learnt. I will be avoiding Connells as a seller and as a buyer.
Connells must go into administration...
Must have a petition to close ALL branches of this abominable, dishonest, unprofessional ao called, 'estate agents '. I blame myself for not reading trustpilot customers reviews earlier. The 1 should be zero stars BS of a name in estate agency is reflective of all those who work for them. My experience with them at the Harrow branch is a nightmare on the high street. As a landlord I was ripped off by them to the tune of aprox £8000 over 10 years. Trying to get in touch with them was next to impossible, whilst the w... bosses were isolating the Bame workers who were clueless in branch fobbed you at every opportunity. Poor customer service is the norm. You do all the chasing when it comes to property management even forking out so much money. I question whether the rare praised review is fake sent by relatives. Do NOT acquire the services of this estate agent, they will drive you insane!!!!! Forward this review, tell everyone and warn them or if you want to take the risk 'upon your own head be it'. You've been warned.
We discussed going multiple estate…
We discussed going multiple estate agents the woman nodded and agreed 4 weeks was good as sole agent. When we came to go with other agents were told we were locked in for 6 months in no uncertain terms.
An estate agent who takes the trouble to match the right buyer to the right property
We have just moved into a beautiful home, in a beautiful location, perfectly suited to us, thanks to the advice and initiative of Rory MacTaggart of Connells Winchester. Rory showed us round 2 properties we had asked to see but they were not really to our liking; Rory chatted with us and established the kind of house and location that we really wanted and took us to see a "mystery property" in a different location, having secured the owner's agreement for us to see it, as it had been taken off the market. In his own words he matched the right house with the right buyer - it was just right for us. His supported us well during the 4 months that followed, as lockdown intervened and we had to sell our property. An efficient and friendly estate agent.
LIES!!!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely awful service from the Swindon branch, they persistently called to arrange an evaluation of our property and insisted we call their mortgage adviser, although the only reason they had my details was that I was interested in a property viewing. Almost two weeks on and still haven’t had a viewing, in fact I was told due to government legislation no agent is allowed to show properties unless your own property is under offer!!! Makes no sense as I have had a viewing today and have another 2 this week with another agent. NEEDLESS TO SAY I WON’T BE CONTACTING CONNELLS AGAIN!!!
buying my first property- terrible
buying my first property, to get me to exchange they told me 100% the building would be done in April it then got delayed. I don't mind a few delays as it's expected but I've been lied to throughout the process. Was told that the 'final utilities check' had happened earlier in the month. Went to view it a few days after this check. No bathroom, kitchen or electrical points- No point in my mum flying back into the country to see a shell of a building (which they knew) and couldn't possibly of done the checks. The estate agent there was 'filling in' so couldn't answer any questions. then was assured that they were increasing work to 7 days a week to get this done ASAP - I went past the property 3 times over the weekend no one was there. Told me it was all the developers fault and wouldn't take any responsibility but they should be checking that's their job. I called 4 times this week with no response for an update and now i'm just being ignored. They've roped me into a lifetime membership which i really hope i can get back- shockingly bad
Viewing refused for not using their mortgage advisor
Melton Mowbray Branch refused to let me view a property without speaking to their mortgage advisor for a one hour appointment first.
I have a mortgage advisor and mortgage in principle already but it didn’t matter. I asked what they needed for the appointment and they said that I didn’t need to provide anything, they will just take my word for my income etc - I could have told them anything, so it wasn’t a mortgage check, it was a hard sell!
When I cancelled the house viewing and told them that this was why, they didn’t care at all that they had lost the viewing, very rude.
