DISAPPOINTING SERVICE FROM KATERINA
I too, as the previous negative reviewer rented a car on the Wizz Air website, via 3rd party Cartrawler. We arrived at the desk and were served by a Europcar employee named KATERINA, who was unhelpful, smug and condescending. The rental had already been prepaid, but a holding fee was required. The main driver had 3 debit cards, which she refused, as only credit cards were accepted. We were a party of four and the other three all had credit cards, we even offered to pay in cash, but she refused all. It was now two hours of waiting and past midnight. I accept rules, but the attitude and unwillingness to cooperate was uncalled for. Katerina’s social skills and customer service need addressing. It was a horrible start to a holiday.

We rented a car through the booking portal rentalcars.com . Closely read the terms of the rental.
When we showed up to Pick up the car, we were told that we could not get the car we only had a Mastercard and they do not accept those. We when back to the terms of the rental it stated clearly that they accepted Mastercard, and the we looked at the e-vourcer and it just stated the card had to have My name on it. So we lived up to both.
We went back and showed Them the terms but they did not Care and it was not their problem.
So now we have our vacation weekend killed. The mood and joy of going and visiting Greece was gone. We have lost 130 euros in rental and 300 euros in Airbnb because had choswn a place that required car.
So thanks europcar ! You are awesome !

I had a car reservation at Europcar Athens airport via a a Wizzair 3rd party provider (CarTrawler). I was refused the car rental from Europcar because I only have debit cards (no credit card), which is the first time happening to me in 20+ years. CarTrawler refused to any refund, so I lost the money and furthermore,me and my mother wasted hours in the airport looking for an alternative solution. Flustrating situation. A competitor accepted finally my debit cards. Not a humane approach at all.

I rented the car at Europcar via rentalcars - and it was prepaid before arrival. I did bring creditcard and several debit cards. However my creditcard was on applepay and the Europcar requested that in fysical form. I tried to discuss and propose a prepayment of insurance/deposit - however no SUPPORT whatsoever.
No car for me.....terrible service. I rented a car with any problems in Athens with debit card only - and at a much lower price. Never ever again I will use Europcar and Rentalcars. None of them give you any service.
No acceptance of debit cards - even though it was stated in the order confirmation
We had 2 1/2 weeks before our trip to Athens airport rented a car from Europcar. When we are in Athens and have to pick up the car, we were informed that we cannot rent the car, as we have a VISA debit card and not a credit card. In the order confirmation for the reservation, it was written that we should bring a credit or debit card. In a new email we receive two days before our arrival in Athens, it says again that we must bring a debit or credit card. Europecar rejected our reservation and we had to go to another rental company at the airport instead. All other rental companies we talked to want to rent us a car with our VISA debit card, unfortunately we had to pay 280 Euro instead of the 122.47 Euro we had rented for at Europcar. A really big disappointment. We will never rent a car from Europcar again, and cannot in any way recommend them to others.

Very professional service. We were delighted with the car, the cost and the quick service. The staff were also understanding and flexible when I had a mix up with my credit card at the start of the rental. I would definitely use Europcar again.
The classic “underside of the car” scam
Person at the desk went over to our car and immediately pointed out something on the underside of the car which was completely unnoticeable and was clearly known beforehand. Utter tourist trap - and the people in front of us got conned too. We luckily had photos so they conceded and we didn’t have to pay, but they will get the next person!

My recent experience was fantastic. The building is situated close to the airport, within walking distance. The ladies who work in the office are fantastic and very friendly. They made sure we got our car as soon as possible and we were quickly on our way. Returning the car was just as quick and a smooth transaction. Terrible. Employee broke my suitcase. Instead of Europcar taking care of it myself, I had to write an email to the service center.
Europcar Chania Airport - AVOID AT ALL COST
UPDATE: These con artists keep replying avoiding to address the elephant in the room. My card gave me back the money they tried to charge me when I reported them for fraud, thus proving my claim. The rest is riff raff because they don't know what to say.
If this outfit steals your money claiming you were late, even though you booked with your flight number, claim it from your card. That's what I did successfully, as these people are SCAM ARTISTS.
I repeat, they are running SCAMS.
DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM, and if you have, cancel the booking now and book with someone else. You will still save a ton of money.
