I chose Evan’s halshaw to get a Citroen…

I chose Evan’s halshaw to get a Citroen air cross
This was on the motorbility scheme
On the 24 th feb the car was due for service as I have mobility issues I needed someone from the garage to collect and drop back off they don’t apparently offer this service anymore I spoke to motorbility they said the garage should offer you something that would help under the circumstances I rang the garage back and spoke to the service manager he was going to ask around the staff to see if anyone lived close to me so they could collect the car on the way to work
After 2 weeks I had heard nothing I rang them back and apparently there was not anyone that could do this so I was back to square one
After thinking about this situation I rang them back and asked if I could wait while the service is completed I was then told it would take approx 4 hours and they advised people not to wait
So the situation now dropping your car off in the middle of nowhere in a wheelchair and expected not to wait so what do they expect people to do
I then asked if I could have a loan car they told me I could but I would have to wait till the end of may
So that is what I am left with my car goes in for service end of may should of been done middle of February
I hopefully will be given a loan car I do not have my hopes up never use this garage again no understanding of situation and no compromises

Dreadful standards of care, quality and respect.

I have given this company long enough to demonstrate any level of customer care that is even close to that claimed by the central headquarters.

The Durham (Renault) branch falls far short of any acceptable standard of customer care, standards of interaction with the purchaser and worst of all, the presented me with a 2 year old 26,000 mile car that was in a disgusting state... door and tailgate reveals, bottom of doors were barely touched during its cursory wash over, yet the company claims an "...emphasis on ensuring the car is in pristine condition." (EH)

A blackening product for plastic trim had been applied. The wheel arches were not cleaned before application, resulting in road grime and grit being covered in the blackening product. This is inadequate!

The bonnet had not been opened and later revealed a state of utter neglect. The salesman stated that "They never clean under the bonnet, incase they cause damage." What utter, patronising garbage. He suggested that I return the car for a clean...but interestingly, only on a day when he was working...why?

Of course, I spent several days preparing my own car to proper 'handover standards' that should have been done by the garage...if tgey had pride in their process and respect for the customer !

There is significant damage to the plastic trim...it needs to be replaced. The salesman stated he would get back to me about it...that was 3 weeks ago and I have heard nothing.

LITHIA (UK), the parent company, are inadequate in their determination to ensure customer care and satisfaction by the branches of their company .

Avoid this company, especially the Durham (Renault) branch if you seek genuine customer care, value and quality.

I feel VERY UNDERVALUED as a customer.

Since posting this review, the company responded with what turned out to be a meaningless offer to progress my complaint. I contacted the email given TWICE... NO REPLY! An utterley fake invitation to make themselves appear to be responsive...THEY ARE NOT!

Please avoid buying from EvansHalshaw, there are other garages who much more deserve your business.

Just bought a Peugeot 3008 from Vauxhall Shiremoor. Steve the guy from sales was great. He had the car moved through their network for me and the whole process of purchasing the car was very easy. The car was prepared to a good standard. They had a great selection of cars so I'd buy from them again.

Very disappointing experience

We would avoid in the future
We found a car online and rang the garage to see how to get the car from them in Cardiff up to Preston which they claim they will do
The salesman at Cardiff was not only very unhelpful he seemed to not no costs to transfer car even though it’s on their website
We rang Preston as he told us that’s what we needed to do
Took us an entire day to just organise for the car to be reserved and to brought to the Preston dealership
We had organised an appointment after paying for the car to reserved and to go and see the car
2 days before we were due to go we contacted them to confirm but there seemed to be a problem and someone was going to call but there was no call so we called the next day only to find out that the car was not there and in fact had been sold a week after we had reserved it to another customer in Cardiff
The customer service they claim they have is not good at all and they really shouldn’t claim that the customer is important at all
We felt very angry and let down as we had changed our holiday plans to see the car with every intention of purchasing it
Very disappointing service and having read other reviews we may have had a lucky escape

What went wrong

What went wrong? Everything. Is rip-off company!!!!!
I have car from them 1 year and every visit (it was a lot) I get angry 😠
I have extended warranty and they asked me to pay for everything. Example:
I told them timming belt is cracking and they checked straight away after been used (full of oil) and said is not. So I asked them to check properly and it would cost me £150/hourly to do so!!!! I know is cracked..... and many many more troubles
After I bought a car I get service plan- paid nearly 6 months and they informed me is on diffrent car and diffrent name???? Grrrrr

Extremely Disappointed with the…

Extremely Disappointed with the Customer Service

I had a terrible experience at Evenshalshaw Coatbridge The staff were dismissive, unprofessional, and seemed more interested in rushing me out the door than actually helping me. I had to wait over [insert time] just to get someone’s attention, even though I had an appointment.

When I finally spoke with a salesperson, they were unhelpful, refusing to answer basic questions about my cars Worse, they tried to pressure me into making a decision without providing clear details about the warranties.

It’s clear they prioritize making a sale over providing good service. I wouldn’t recommend this dealership to anyone. Save yourself the frustration and take your business elsewhere.

Buy a car, get stuck with a loan car

Buy a car, get stuck with a loan car

You don’t expect the car to be brand new when you buy a used car, but you don’t expect it to show error codes and have to have a full engine rebuild after only a couple of miles driving out of the forecourt, but that is exactly what has happened in this case and it’s still got issues to this day, even though it’s been personally looked over. This car should never have been sold to me nor anyone and obviously wasn’t tested properly.

They did do right by me in straight away giving me a loan car, but that’s the only thing. I was made promises that weren’t kept and outrageous promises at that! And the guy who sold me the car was let go and they didn’t even contact me in regards to where or how my car was doing ( I had to contact them after failing to get a response from the sales guy! And this is the third time they have had the car back because of faults found!

All in all a terrible service, if I had the money I would be giving the car straight back and buying another one from elsewhere!

Tread carefully with this dealership

This company are scammers

This company are scammers, i always get my cars checked before buying and they completely lied to me and the manager got nasty about me doing a car vehicle check I actually thought that a company like this would not be scamners and that the car vehicle check would ok and I would go amd pick it up I thought the manager being rude and trying to rush me was because I was getting a good deal but it turns out they completely mislead me and the report showed some major thoughts I'm just glade it didn't cost me £16000 but the vehicle check did cost me £250 if I knew or had any other doubts I wouldn't have bothered with the check I was really looking forward to getting me new car and they really tried to scam me, I will sue them for this, they have done this to the wrong person. I want compensation for the cost of checking the car and for the stress and inconvenience this has caused me, this is not the last you have heard about this. This company who is owned by pendraggon needs closing down, how these scamming cowboys are allowed to operate like this, is beyond me, it's not right what you are doing to people, shamefull company

Worthless warranty and money grabbing

I’m looking at other reviews and WOW, you guys have work to do, and sadly you are becoming the reason second hand car sales have the reputation they have.
I bought a car 5 months ago, with all the promises and million point checks in the world, and their top warranty.
5 months later, in for a service at my local garage and they spot a whole shopping list of issues.
Broken spring
Broken ball joint
Radiator leak etc etc…

That’s fine, I have the full warranty I thought.

Take it to York and firstly they want to charge £180 for investigation, but will refund that if what we report is there.

They found the broken spring, the ball joint was indeed knackered, but couldn’t find a leak in the coolant system (despite the fact I have to fill it every week)

Next they said nothing was covered by the warranty.

That was sorted out, but they said only the spring was covered, so had to pay £250 for the ball joint (only had the car 5 months, what kind of checks have been done?).

But because they ‘couldn’t’ find the leak in the radiator, they are still charging £180 for investigation work, even if everything else in the shopping list was there, because of this one thing, it’s £180.

I will be going back to my local garage and taking photos of where they found the leak and going back to these guys, telling them where the leak is and demanding my £180 back

Overall…… I won’t be buying a car from these guys again.

Remember it’s not that something has gone wrong that’s the problem, it’s how you are treated when it does, and frankly I feel well and truly conned and a little dirty dealing with them. Sad times.

Broken our air conditioning after changed pipe.

We sent our car for fixing the pipe then we found out that the air conditioning was out of order after changed some parts in Trafford park Evenshalshaw Ford. We went back to centre in one minute right away as we smell bad from the air conditioning however they explained that it’s not there fault and didn’t responsible and ask for another £150 checking fee.

MOT and service

Bought my car eight months ago last October from this company about £9.000
It needed a MOT this 15 July so l called to book it in, it cost £280.00 with a courtesy car £15 for four hours my car passed but with two advisories 1st they said my breakfluid needs draining and replacing ££££ extra, and 2nd my coolant needs topping up barring in mind the antifreeze it's only £6 per gallon ,l do get the breakfluid thing l suppose but for nearly £300 and they couldn't put a cup full of antifreeze in for me , not really good Evens Halshaw that's really not very helpful or good enough for your customer satisfaction there's drumming up business and taking the Micheal ,if they had said we'll top up your antifreeze just book it in for the breakfluid replacement l would have gone ahead with that but not now I'll take it somewhere else.by the way it's the second problem l have had with the work carried out at this garage.

Unsupportive if issues arise

Often the quality of a company is only on display when an issue arises, Salesmen very kind and polite when selling but uncaring and uncompromising if any issues arise.

We purchased a larger car after the birth of our first child. Informed that the turbo had been replaced after purchasing so was really disappointed when issues arose a few months after buying with engine management lights which were according to a Seat specialist, likely linked to the turbo. The car also failed the MOT emissions test also after the first year.l, an issue I've never experienced.

Contacted the branch we used and tried going through complaints as we were told initially there would be a warranty of 12 months for the replacement turbo. However, although the new turbo has collapsed after only 1 year and 9000 miles, no apology or offer of any kind to help rectify the issue. Told that someone would call back a few times and I naively waited and expected a call before having to call back to try and sort out.

The seat specialist we spoke to were very surprised to hear a warranty of only 12 months for a new turbo and it makes you question the quality of the work completed.

Both cars I've purchased in my life have been from Evans Halshaw but won't be using them in the future if this isn't rectified. I plan on going back through complaints to say that the issue hasn't been resolved through the local dealership we used to buy the car, but not holding my breath for any sort of support or apology but this is a lesson learned the hard way.

Since 27/9/23 I have been trying to get a key from evans halshaw to no avail . The sales manager was extremely angry at me for putting a review on the shiremoor site . Tuff . If they had got their act together the review would have been outstanding . The only outstanding bit was their bad attitude , their lax attitude to getting things right , their blame culture (I was to blame) . Sold me a car with one key as the incompetent fools lost it . Car was scratched in three places . I visited the show room and was given a different excuse every time . Can’t even get there lies straight . The last straw was with Joshua the sales manager who came on the phone telling me to remove it and his name . Not a chance mate . I will poss remove it when and if you produce a key

Not to be trusted shocking people

Ordered a used vw touareg from there Nissan Doncaster branch. Was told it costs £100 to bring it to there branch which I had to pay and they assured me if anything was wrong with the car eq paint wheels etc. They would be put it right before I came to collect it. I arrived to collect it 3 days later and car had massive scratches down passenger side of car. When I pointed it out was told they would do nothing about it! Becouse it a used car! Well 18k used car to me is a lot of money. After arguing for an hour manager said it might buff out and we would lose our £100 even though we were promised they would put. Any damage right. I the end I walked away and refused to accept adamaged car. They said I could have my £100 back but since then no money and ignoring e-mails terrible treatment
