Evidence Command is a veteran-owned medical evidence company helping Veterans get the high-quality medical evidence they need for VA disability claims and appeals. We connect Veterans nationwide with VA-experienced licensed healthcare providers for Mental Health Evaluations, Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs), Nexus Letters, Independent Medical Opinions, and medical evidence reviews. Our process is simple, secure, and built around the Veteran. For physical and medical conditions, we start with a Medical Evidence Gap Analysis to help determine what additional medical evidence, if any, may be appropriate before you spend more money. With nationwide provider coverage, transparent flat-rate pricing, convenient telehealth, and fast turnaround times, our mission is simple: Better Medical Evidence. Delivered Faster. For Less. Evidence Command is independent and not affiliated with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Apparently communication after the…

Apparently communication after the appointment isn’t something they do. After they got their money, it is just supposed to be over. They say they want to help, it just seems like if you have questions/concerns they leave you hanging almost 3 weeks. I guess they got their money, oh well.

They prepared me

They prepared me! There was just the right amount of information that I went into the meeting having an idea of what to expect and the type of information I should share. There was just the right amount of time between scheduling the meeting and having the meeting. The doctor I met with did a good job of listening and taking notes.

Medical Evidence Gap Analysis + Technology Access Concern

My biggest concern is why VACI does not provide this service instead of using another company as the middleman. I am not sure who operates Evidence Command, and when I look up the address, it shows a house in Austin, TX. This seems a little fishy to me; it seems like this is just another way to get money out of the veterans. I do not understand the value of the gap analysis and technology access other than another way to make more money. VACI could just connect veterans directly to the MRPY Portal or providers and remove Evidence Command.

Update based on the reply from Evidence Command: I appreciate the response from Evidence Command, but after looking into this further, my concerns remain. Knowing that Brian Reese owns Evidence Command adds important context.

My main issue is that this mandatory service felt completely unnecessary for my situation and added an extra $200 to $300 out-of-pocket fee. My medical records were already solid through the VA, and all I needed was a Nexus Letter and DBQ. Under previous VACI setups, this extra middleman fee was not required.

While I understand this is a veteran-owned business, getting a Nexus Letter and DBQ is already expensive. A "gap analysis" or technology access fee should be an optional add-on for veterans who actually need help organizing their records—not a required cost for those who don't. I'm posting this update so fellow veterans can carefully evaluate their options and know exactly what they are paying for before committing.

Updated Review on 10/22/26: Save $2,000 to $4,000 by working directly with MRPY.

I wanted to update my review to help fellow veterans save money on their claims.

If you work through VA Claims Insider (VACI), they charge a contingency fee equal to 6x your monthly increase. For example, if you get an increase or secondary service connection (like OSA) that bumps your pay up by just $800 to $1,000 a month, VACI takes $4,800 to $6,000. Even if you already have solid VA medical records and only need a Nexus Letter and DBQ, VACI routes you through third-party intermediaries (like Evidence Command) and also adds thousands of dollars in fees on top of the actual medical provider’s cost.

What many veterans don't realize is that you can cut out the VACI entirely and go straight to medical evidence providers like MRPY Professional Services.

With VACI: Expect to pay up to $5,000+ out of your future backpay/benefits for a single successful claim increase.

Directly with MRPY: A standalone Medical Evidence Assessment and Nexus Letter/DBQ package from MRPY is flat-rate—typically costing between $1,000 and $2,000 total.

Working directly with MRPY gets you the exact same quality medical documentation (the Nexus Letter and DBQ I received from MRPY were top-tier) while saving you $2,000 to $4,000+. Do yourself a favor: do not sign away 6 months of your benefit increase. Review your records, figure out what you actually need, and go directly to the source.

The more I learned about this process, the more frustrated I became. VACI does have great coaches and will help educate you if you do not know what you are doing. However, if you have any experience with the VA and know what you need, go directly to MRPY and save some costs.

Easy to work with

Easy to work with, good communications. VA still assessing my claim, so too early to tell how effective the Nexus and DBQ letters are in satisfyingVA requirements.
