At this point no stars would be a accurate rating! As others have pointed out this once highly rated and reliable company has steadily deteriorated over the past year. Last order I was quoted $113 and was paid $5, these were 2022 review copies and when I inquired as to what they do with "worthless books" they told me they "recycle" them and if I wanted them back they would charge me $5? I was a long time customer and I politely ask them to waive the $5 charge and they refused. I will be doing business elsewhere from this point forward and I would advise others to do so also.

This is the most common issue we deal with. I am very sorry your experience was not a good one because we have strived to be the best in this business for over 50 years. Unfortunately, there are different types of books with the same title. When someone enters the title of a book into Faculty Books, the seller is presented with all of the different books and the ISBN associated with each. In this case, as often happens, you selected the option with the highest value. Unfortunately, this is not the book you had or sent in to Faculty Books. As always, I am happy to discuss this with you in the hope you will understand why we can not pay for something we did not receive.

SCAM, find a different buyer

Increasingly in the last two years, my books somehow magically arrived damaged, missing, or with a completely different ISBN number. This all results in receiving no or very reduced compensation. I don't care they have been in business for 40 + years, it's still a SCAM. Find a different buyer, I have. DONE.

I am always discouraged when we receive a negative post so I take time to check each and every one. In this case, I can not find a single transaction with you in our historical files. Please reach out to me if you are posting this message under a different name or user ID. We try very hard to make every interaction a positive one. We're very proud of our 40+ years in this business and work hard to protect our reputation. Thank you in advance for reaching out.

DO NOT use FacultyBooks

I have sold books off and on to FacultyBooks for 4-5 years. Never had a problem. Recently though they quietly changed their policies and I'd say they verge on criminal. After earning thousands of dollars selling to FacultyBooks they now keep your books even if they reject them. That is to say if you send in your books for buy back and they deem them not buyable, they just keep them (and sell them themselves) and do not return them to you. I am shocked that this is legal, but since the change I had about 90% of what I have sold, mysteriously deemed not to their criteria. save your time and have nothing to do with FacultyBook/Texas Book Company.

I am truly sorry you have had a bad experience with our Faculty Books program. We pride ourselves in over 40 years of excellence. I would like to address a few of the points in your review.

Our non-returns policy has been in place from the very beginning of the Faculty Books program, but we have always returned unacceptable books if you would like to pay for the shipping. The response you received is a result of our warehouse being on a nearly 100% shutdown. We simply do not have the staff in place because of the mandatory shutdown of all but required staff. I am happy to return these two books once our warehouse is off mandatory lockdown.

The two books in question are books which were priced by our system as student copy units but they were received as instructor annotated units. Unfortunately, the student copies do have value and what was sent does not. Had you entered the instructor annotated edition into the system, there would not have been any offer made.

Looking at your history beginning in 2017, I can not find another case where your books were not paid for. I would like to address your claim that 90% of what you've sent was not paid for, but I can't find any information to support it.

I really would like to address this and see if we can find a way to continue working together.

Please contact me directly at mkelly@texasbook.com

Thank you.

I have twice had them deeply discount books I sent claiming they were damaged in transit. This is after all the directions were followed and the packing accomplished exactly as they requested. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.By the time you have sent them there is no recourse as you cannot see the book to tell if they are damaged. Trusting their word has become problematic. Unfortunately they were at one time more honest. Books cannot be that damaged in transit. They also are the only ones who decide the new value.

Mr. Grons

I 'm sorry you had a bad experience with our Faculty Books site. We have for more than 40 years built our reputation by being very honest both on the buying and selling side of every transaction. When we sell a book as "new", it must be perfect. Please be assured we would never risk our reputation by discounting your book if we thought we could sell it as new. I have (in the past) been able to find the actual book sent and delivered photos back to the seller if I can be notified in time. I am happy to do this for you if you should decide to continue selling books through Faculty Books and feel like your rating was not justified. Please feel free to contact me directly using the contact information on our web site.

I do hope you continue to utilize FacultyBooks.com in the future.

I am glad to have found this company…

I am glad to have found this company and have a colleague to thank for it. As a professor, I notice myself accumulating textbooks and finally decided I needed to consider selling. It was easy to enter my books ISBNs on the website and I received my boxes and packing supplies just a few days after I ordered them. (And BTW, I don't know of another company who does that! THANK YOU! I didn't have to spend a dime to ship my books!) I set up a direct deposit and was able to use a promo coupon that gave me extra money for doing so. The company paid me as stated. Flawless transaction. I will be back.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience with our Faculty Books site. We try very hard to ensure everyone has a great experience so we can continue our 40 plus year tradition of excellence.

In your specific case, I was able to review the order and the shipment information (as I do with any negative review). Here are the specifics:

You were quoted a price for Guided Flight Discovery revised 15th edition and we received from you the 10th edition - which no longer has any value.

You were quoted a price for Mathematics with Applications 12th edition from 2019 and we received from you the 11th edition from 2015 which no longer has any value.

You were quoted a price for Business Statistics:First, W-CD from 2017 and we received from you the 3rd edition from 2015 which has a current value in our price guide of $7.00. If you were to look on our site and check the ISBN (978032192583), you will see a quote of $7.00 for the book you sent.

All older edition books decrease in value as new edition/versions are released.

I strive to make every interaction with Faculty Books a positive one so if you would like to get the books you sent us back, I can arrange to have them shipped.

A good company for selling instructor's editions and other leftover textbooks. They don't always pay the best price, but they are very trustworthy. I always receive the quoted price, unlike some other textbook buyers. They even send you packing materials! Highly recommended.

I appreciate the availability of this …

I appreciate the availability of this service and the company's speed of payment, once books are received. However, the majority of times I have sold new (read: unused) books, all or part of my shipment has been downgraded to a less-than-new status and may payment reduced because of it.

Good site and services. An enhancement would be an app that scans the UPC vs. having to type in the ISBN to ascertain if available for purchase.

Terrible experience. They robbed me blind. The online quote was reasonable, but once they had my books, the check they issued was for a laughable amount. Customer service was no help. I will never use this site again.

Ms. Johnson,

I am very sorry to hear you had a negative experience with FacultyBooks.com.  We take great pride in our customer satisfaction and make every attempt to make every experience a good one.  I have done a great deal of research into your specific situation.  Unfortunately, everything I can see tells me the communications from customer service are spot on.  It seems the book we received from you is an instructor's edition and the price quoted was for a student edition.  I understand the book was returned to you already (at our expense).  I am sorry this experience has not been a good one and I hope you will try our service again someday.

Thank you
