In 1928, two men shared a dream of providing a quality insurance product at a reasonable price. In the decades that followed we’ve grown and adapted to meet the changing needs of Americans. But one constant has remained: We have an unwavering commitment to uphold our founding ideals to provide industry-leading products and first-rate services to the customers we’re privileged to serve. Different Eras, Same Exceptional Service Farmers not only prides itself on helping you plan wisely for the unexpected, but also on helping restore order when it occurs, so you can keep moving along the road of your life’s plans. In 1959 a Farmers customer wrote us a letter of surprised gratitude when his car battery was replaced just an hour after it was stolen. A letter from a couple in 2002 wrote that their Farmers agent and Claims Adjuster “were exceptional in their handling of our grief, what we needed to do, and helpful in many other ways.” That same year, when Hurricane Rita struck Beaumont, Texas, Farmers sent 300 agents to assess damages while policy holders were evacuated. Farmers also donated $100,000 for the city’s emergency operations center and two megawatt generators that restored power to Beaumont. Whatever year or decade a disaster occurs, you can count on us to be there for you. Today, the companies comprising the Farmers Insurance Group of Companies make up one of the country's largest insurers of vehicles, homes and small businesses and provide a wide range of other insurance and financial services products. Farmers is proud to serve more than 10 million households with more than 19 million individual policies across all 50 states through the efforts of over 48,000 exclusive and independent agents and nearly 21,000 employees. The Farmers Exchanges are three reciprocal insurers (Farmers Insurance Exchange, Fire Insurance Exchange and Truck Insurance Exchange) owned by their policyholders, and together with their subsidiaries and affiliates comprise the Farmers Insurance Group of Companies. Farmers Group, Inc. and its subsidiaries, in their capacity as attorneys-in-fact, provide administrative and management services to the Farmers Exchanges. Our Story Our story began with the simple goal of insuring the vehicles of rural farmers but as the world changed, so did we. Visit our timeline for a tour through the decades of Farmers.

Farmers Auto Insurance
Farmers Auto Insurance, did my family wrong. In a TC submitted info the other vehicle involved in TC submitted False Info committing a crime/fraud and Farmers said it doesn’t matter. The drivers was a uninsured 14 year old and Farmers said it ok that the info was false, his mother submitted info that her 39 year old husband was driving. He was not even present at time of accident We have 3 witnesses. But Farmers doesn’t care. Farmers said no injury’s it doesn’t matter. City police, will not take a report if no injuries, you would think the other insured vehicle
is going to submit truth and accurate information. Be aware that Famers will not care if you bring this to light with proof. it’s the Law to have Auto insurance so farmers doesn’t care they will always have customers. This is not the American way. Since they accept fraud Farmers is committing a crime as well. If your in an accident and you have no scruples Go ahead people submit false info farmers will not check. I stand by my review and what I say and write is a true fact.
Run away from this horrible company
Run away from this horrible company! They refuse to cover anything ... tree falls on the house, sucks to be you ... hail, really sucks to be you ... cars damaged, 🤣 (I was literally asked why I would want to fix my car and not just replace it because it's so old ... 2011 w/30k miles, paid off) ... refuse factory parts. They make the claims process is so complicated, convoluted and infuriating so you'll give up on the claim and they won't have to pay out. You'll spend hours on the phone and never get an answer to your questions. They'll raise premiums regularly w/o cause or explanation. They'll treat you like a scum bag.
We purchased Farmers home insurance in…
We purchased Farmers home insurance in August to go in effect on the first of September. The policy went in to effect without a problem. I received an e-mail a week or so later regarding doing a home inspection with a few questions like do you want to be notified and do you wish to be present. I responded we did not need to be notified or present. We thought that was the end of the discussion. Last week we received a notification that our policy was being canceled because we did not allow a home inspection. At no time did anyone contact us about an home inspection. I feel they were not totally honest with us. Would highly recommend people look elsewhere for insurance.
Farmers Insurance “leading the way” towards higher insurance rates for us all
30 year loyal client with Farmers, 20 of those years with Walt Holley. One small auto claim 5 to 10 years back. My Auto insurance nearly doubled since last year, so I finally shopped rates and found both Auto and Home to be significantly cheaper elsewhere. (I do understand the economics of why insurance rates are going higher, however my recent rate was egregious.) With all that, I still felt bad about canceling with Walt. **When I called to cancel my Auto and Balloon policies, he HUNG UP on me mid-sentence one minute in to the call!**. I was shocked to say the least. I figure, conservatively, I have paid out well over $100,000 to Farmers over the years and have submitted only one $2000 claim years ago. I called Walt Holley back to say I was disappointed and expected more from him professionally after being with him all this time, and he responded with an email saying:
“Your request to cancel your policies which was the purpose of your call will be processed. You cant simply call my office and expect me to drop everything and debate . You take no consideration for what's on my agenda for the day. Everything else was irrelevant for which I have better use of the day.” What??? Talk about adding insult to injury. I am still floored.
Conclusion: Walt is pleasant right up until the moment he can no longer make money off of you.
Note to everyone: Shop your rates. Farmers was dramatically higher than every other Insurance Co I called. I did some research and was told Farmers is “leading the way towards higher rates”. Well I don’t consider that to be a plus for Farmers clients. **My first call to another top-rated company resulted in a 70% savings on my Auto Insurance and a 60% savings on my home.**. In fact my Auto Insurance rate with the new company is less than what I was paying to Farmers 4 years ago, so now I realize I have been overpaying Farmers for years
I( have been with Farmers for 40 years
I( have been with Farmers for 40 years. I got my auto renewal and the rate has gone up $1000.0per year. We are retired and drive less then 50 miles per month. My agent has always been rude. time to shop around.
Great experience so far!
I've actually had a wonderful experience with farmer's insurance. We have had them for many years, and they've always been fair and helpful.

Ellis Beavers Did a great job dealing with my case I am extremely satisfied with the service I was provided Had a car deal where someone vandalized my property
My son recently bought a 2021 Ford…
My son recently bought a 2021 Ford Explorer from this Car Max in Norwood, MA. He traded in his old car and paid the difference off. That was a week ago. The last week has been the week from hell for him. He currently has an expensive paperweight (his car) that he can't drive. Car Max sent the DMV form for his Farmer's Insurance agent to fill out and return to them so he can get a title to the car and get it inspected. Car Max waited a week to let my son know that there was a problem with getting the form completed to send to the state. His Farmers Insurance agent said he would not accept the form that Car Max had sent to him. So, the agent sent Car Max their company form to fill out, which Car Max wouldn't accept. Neither Car Max nor the Farmers Insurance Company Agent will talk to each other to solve the problem. My poor son is stuck in the middle without a car. This is a complete mess and neither Farmers nor Car Max are trying to solve this problem. Someone needs to do something!!!
Scamed on my Home Owners Policy
Took out Auto and Homeowners Ins., with Farmers. After calling in for a quote on their 800 number. Was pleased with quote on both and cost on both. (what I could afford.) Farmers faxed/mailed bill to Mtg. Co. - Fine. Then (in the mail) comes a hard copy of what I had e-mail signed up for and however, noticed they were adding MORE charge to my Homeowners, more monies, (called Mtg. Co.,found out in the amount of $96.00.) No notice of the amount mentioned in dec page. They when behind my back and charged Mtg.Co./me this extra amount. After making a few visits to the AGENT (here) whom THEY assigned me here in Smyrna, TN., I asked about this. He said, "let me go through your policy and find where this extra amount came from". And he would get my $96, back. He did alright TRY!! He (with out my approval & no amendment), he changed the amount of my coverages to lower amounts!! And when I called 800 number they verified that he did changes. 1st they told me the $96 was for an inspection (never got. NOT TRUE). (Already had to pay member ship fee of $25.) Then too, I was told they don't charge for home inspection. Spent 2 hours on the phone being pass around, the last woman I spent 45 minutes with changed back my limits to the original which I signed on for. Told me, "However, I can not change your deductable back to what it was". Three people at Farmers told me that I would get a refund of the EXTRA Money ($96 that was taken out from Escrow). Come yesterday, I get a refund check in the mail for not even close to the $96, that they owe me. And when I called and spoke to the second person, he said, "your shingles where different then what I had on my house & written in the policy". I TOTALLY BELIEVE & feel I WAS SCAMED BY FARMERS INSURANCE. And I will keep working to get my money back. IF THEY DID THIS TO ME, HOW MANY OTHERS DID THEY PULL THIS SCAM WITH?!!!!!
Life Insurance application nightmare
On February 28, 2023, I completed an application for my daughter.
On March 17, 2023, Ronald Baker notified me that they couldn’t reach my daughter to schedule an exam. He provided them with my phone number, and I don't answer unknown numbers. Therefore, she didn't complete the exam until March 20, 2023.
On April 18, 2023, I emailed Ronald regarding the application status. He left a voicemail message stating that everything had been approved for my daughter and that I needed to call Customer Service to make a payment.
I called Customer Service to make an appointment and was informed that her policy hadn't been approved and they couldn't accept my payment. He responded with LOL and that he would contact them.
On April 21, 2023, he advised me that my daughter needed to put a wet signature on the HIPAA form. She submitted the form with the wet signature.
On May 5, 2023, I emailed Ron to see if he heard any updates. On May 8, 2023, he responded and said he hadn't heard anything and would follow up.
On May 9, 2023, he emailed me and said that the Copy Service still hadn't delivered the paperwork, that he was following up with them weekly, and that he was positive that she would be approved, and it is not Farmer's slow-rolling the process. He also added that there was a note for expediency as soon as the paperwork was delivered.
On June 13, 2023, Ronald forwarded me an email from Farmer's without explanation. The email stated that she was being declined for coverage due to a history of anemia. They would reconsider opening her policy once a full evaluation was completed and all results were available.
After months of this, I wasn't even worth anything but a forwarded email from the agent.
When he wanted me to switch my two houses and two cars over, he was a different man.
Horrible
Can’t get these people to me call back on my claim!!! Don’t get hit by someone with Farmers Insurance. My insurance company has confirmed it was the other drivers fault and I can’t get any response from Farmers. I see they have a 1.4 star rating. I can see why.
Don't do Farmers if you want a vaguely 21st century online experience.
Guess what I had in my car until today? An insurance card from Farmers stating I had a policy with them as of 02/03/2023 good maximum a year. Guess when my policy was canceled with them, as I JUST FOUND OUT TODAY (Sept. 2023)? 02/03/2023. Yes, this is a massive adulting fail on my part and I m not proud of it (am also insured with a company other than Farmers/Foremost/AAA as of today).
How does this come about your say. Well gather round and I shall tell ye the tale. I move in early 2023 and try to contact AAA, who I initially contacted to get insurance, to advise them of this to update my policy. The AAA rep is after all prominently listed on the Farmers/Foremost portal (when I can get access to it). But he informs me to inform them. Farmers or Foremost? I have no clue, as I once had access to an online portal through farmers, until I got a cryptic message and didn’t. I think it’s been transferred to a Foremost portal (who is Foremost? No one has explained anything), which I accessed once I think?? I manage to log in and inform them of the move. Okey dokey they say. They quote me a slightly higher rate. Righty ho I say. I log out. I print out my shiny new insurance card. I don’t check my bank account which is linked to AutoPay (my fatal error). I just assume all is well. I get a few emails from them saying “Billing documents available” and I go, well alrighty, that is how they tell me they’re doing AutoPay, leastways that’s how it’s always been in the past. I continue my prudent driving habits until I need to share my auto ins card and decide to give pay my old portal friends a visit. Oh no. Oh NO.
I call a Farmers lady who tells me I haven’t had insurance since 02/03/23 and Christ, how did I not know? (She didn’t say Christ. She was very friendly and probably only mentally taking the Lord’s name in vain.) I tell her I never got any notices? She says yes you did? I said they all looked like the generic autopay notices. Also what is Foremost? She says they were giving you insurance actually. Farmers is just the name on your card. But you could have logged into both portals. I say you are very nice but actually, no I very much could not. I say I am an adult in 2023 and have tons of things on Autopay. I did not check my bank statement for the roughly $50/month charge. Yes I should have done this. I did not. Adulting fail. However your systems are also BADLY designed. She is clearly preparing to take this to her boss (she cares! she's a darling!) and says, if this were a month or so late I could have done something. But then she starts going on about how she has to Demonstrate that I haven't known and Gather evidence and I'm like, lady you seem nice but I need to go get me some actual insurance. And given I've been derelict for over half a year now, I'm not going to find anything worthwhile from your reputable establishment, so kindly I must take my leave kthxbye.
Have I mentioned the charge that caused me to lose insurance back on 02/03/23 (again despite the fact that I also was able to print out a card good 02/03/23 that very day)? THREE. DOLLARS. THAT was the rub and it couldn’t go through on Autopay because Reasons and they sent me a notice about it to my email (I opted into paperless billing like a fool) and it looked just like their notices saying hey we’re doing the Autopay thing and have I mentioned their portal was a nightmare.
Anyway I am still ultimately the one responsible to carry auto insurance (which I have consistently done since licensed and driving a vehicle) and had I had an accident, my ignorance here would not have been an excuse. Very much aware of this and not proud. Easily the biggest adulting fault of my 30s, or the second biggest after marrying my ex. (Are you happy, Foremost/Farmers/AAA? You are being compared to beyond execrable ex spousal units. NOT A GOOD LOOK.)
So tldr, PLEASE stay away from these people if you a) want to know who you actually are getting your insurance from; b) want a vaguely 21st century billing and payment experience; c) want the space time continuum to make some sort of kind of sense.
Again. Not saying this wasn't also a major fail on my part. It absolutely was.
Over and out.
Not a good experience
My experience as a customer after just a year had been bad so I canceled all of my policies (home, auto, umbrella). The website was terrible, I had autopay set up for each policy and still got billed and late fees with no attempt by the system to take some payments (while it worked for others). I was forced to set up autopay by my agent (she did the set up), when I started the policies, so why didn't it work? My agent changed without my consent to an agent far from my home when there were agents much closer. So I canceled and ended up being sent to collections for an amount that accrued after the cancellation date. Though I still don't believe I owe anything that accrued after I canceled, the amount was small so, just to get them out of my hair, I paid it...then the collections texts started.
Getting notifications from Farmers to…
Getting notifications from Farmers to clean up debris in backyard. But they won’t say What debris!
They are sneaky and used Google and sent our agent to say we had to remove a huge tree. It was a liability.
That tree has been gone for over 5 yrs!
Now they say our vehicles in back yard our a liability and need to pay $40 each to insure. We already have full coverage on 4 other cars and an RV. We also were told a tree/bush is touching the house and it needs to be removed or cut back.
My husband has been in 2 car accidents and Farmers is paying very little for life long injuries. We may end up with nothing after paying attorneys. $125,000 gone!
His medical bills are over that. But due to both accidents the coverage by the hitters is barely what you need to have.
Both cars totaled. We also had to pay back Family Medical leave. And he lost his job. Attorney is getting $44,000. And we have forever bills and injuries.
Farmers is rotten .
They are pulling out every where.
Can’t sue the people who caused accidents because young 20s something with no assets.
Farmers is also representing both of other drivers who caused accidents.
What are we suppose to do.
And we have no idea what debris they want removed.
We have 2 months or lose all coverage.
But no one will tell us what they are complaining about.
How great is that???
And we don’t know who will cover us now since so many insurance companies are bailing in Colorado.
All government arranged.
Farmers Is Horrible
Last year, I called in to pay my policy up for the whole year. For some reason, they put me on monthly installments. I HAVE NEVER SIGNED UP FOR MONTHLY INSTALLMENTS. I HAVE ALWAYS PAID MY INSURANCE ONCE A YEAR. So, after I paid for the whole year, I get dinged on my account for an additional monthly payment...it cost me three dollars that they would not give back. So I call again this year to pay my insurance up for the year and again, I've been placed on monthly. No one told me that the discount comes when you pay monthly, not yearly. Like, who does that? So they put me back on monthly so that I could get the discount and just pay the whole year off. I was told that it takes 24 hours for the transfer back to monthly could take place. When I call today, more than 24 hours later, I was told that it takes 48 hours. Oh, and did I mention that the dingbat that changed me to yearly did not tell me about the discount only being applied to the monthlies? So now I'm waiting another day to pay my insurance. Wonder what I'll be told tomorrow. They are absolutely horrible and the only reason I don't change insurance is because the car I drive is being stolen at alarming rate so other insurances are doubling their rates. It's absolutely ridiculous. I hate Farmers. I would absolutely not recommend them to anyone. I wish I could have given them a negative star.
I’ve had farmers over 16 years……
I’ve had farmers over 16 years, no problems. I’ve had a very difficult 2years and wasn’t paying attention to my auto pay, it got returned. It has happened in the past as I was paid daily before and they’d add it to my next pmt. I paid my past due and had to get a new policy, ok, so I called and they “doubled “ my auto insurance, no accidents etc. ( the agent was a little rude too) he said it was because I currently “had no insurance.” I called another agency and got a policy for $120 per year less than my old policy. Goodby good riddance. Don’t waste your time..
This is the worst insurance company I…
This is the worst insurance company I have EVER dealt with. They are greedy beyond belief and would rather lose a customer for life then adjust their premium costs for a customer that has never made a claim on either our home or auto. They increased our auto insurance $250 a year and our homeowners increased over $350... with never making a claim on anything and no tickets or accidents. When I asked them why the increase they just said Insurance is increasing all over. REALLY? I have cancelled both my home and auto with them and WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK WITH THEM. Buyer beware of this horrible company! They may lure you in on a lower premium up front but then they will smack you down with the next years premium. GOOD BYE FARMERS INSURANCE. Worst insurance company ever!
Got Home Policy for my 95 yr old Mom, Canceling!
I just signed my 95 yr old Mom up for a new policy 2 days ago and will be canceling. These people are the most rude and inept I've ever dealt with. I'm so sorry I brought my Mom to this. I should have read reviews. I'm surprised Farmer's remains in business. You will need an outside Public Adjuster to settle every claim with them. From what I've read in so many other claims, these people are Charlatans, worse than Allstate! The ineptitude and rudeness of their customer service in dealing with a new customer is enough to scare me! They also insist you must have a Smart Phone to be able to login to your account. This is very short sighted. Goodbye!
I was hit by a driver with Farmer's…
I was hit by a driver with Farmer's insurance. They were 100% liable for the accident, so I went through their insurance to fix the damages. What a nightmare!! Customer service should get an F. The adjuster never even called me initially (I had to reach out to them). The adjuster had a nasty attitude. I asked to switch adjusters 4 times, just to work with someone a bit nicer. They never switched me. Even the local car rental place mentioned many customers have problems with Farmer's insurance. Thank god for State Farm and Geico, because their customer service is 10000% better. Also, even though their driver was 100% liable for the accident, they refused to pay for the comprehensive car insurance on the rental car, forcing me to come out of pocket for that. What a nightmare it has been working with them. I will recommend everyone I know to stay away from using Farmer's.
Very rude and I work at Petsmart and…
Very rude and I work at Petsmart and suppose to get a discount and he laughed and said we can't do anything to help me. Was very unprofesional. Sticking with AAA.
