In 1928, two men shared a dream of providing a quality insurance product at a reasonable price. In the decades that followed we’ve grown and adapted to meet the changing needs of Americans. But one constant has remained: We have an unwavering commitment to uphold our founding ideals to provide industry-leading products and first-rate services to the customers we’re privileged to serve. Different Eras, Same Exceptional Service Farmers not only prides itself on helping you plan wisely for the unexpected, but also on helping restore order when it occurs, so you can keep moving along the road of your life’s plans. In 1959 a Farmers customer wrote us a letter of surprised gratitude when his car battery was replaced just an hour after it was stolen. A letter from a couple in 2002 wrote that their Farmers agent and Claims Adjuster “were exceptional in their handling of our grief, what we needed to do, and helpful in many other ways.” That same year, when Hurricane Rita struck Beaumont, Texas, Farmers sent 300 agents to assess damages while policy holders were evacuated. Farmers also donated $100,000 for the city’s emergency operations center and two megawatt generators that restored power to Beaumont. Whatever year or decade a disaster occurs, you can count on us to be there for you. Today, the companies comprising the Farmers Insurance Group of Companies make up one of the country's largest insurers of vehicles, homes and small businesses and provide a wide range of other insurance and financial services products. Farmers is proud to serve more than 10 million households with more than 19 million individual policies across all 50 states through the efforts of over 48,000 exclusive and independent agents and nearly 21,000 employees. The Farmers Exchanges are three reciprocal insurers (Farmers Insurance Exchange, Fire Insurance Exchange and Truck Insurance Exchange) owned by their policyholders, and together with their subsidiaries and affiliates comprise the Farmers Insurance Group of Companies. Farmers Group, Inc. and its subsidiaries, in their capacity as attorneys-in-fact, provide administrative and management services to the Farmers Exchanges. Our Story Our story began with the simple goal of insuring the vehicles of rural farmers but as the world changed, so did we. Visit our timeline for a tour through the decades of Farmers.

Toggle worst auto insurance

Without my knowledge or consent, I was switched to Toggle from 21st Century Insurance in January 2024. Since then, all efforts to change my policy (add/remove a vehicle) online have failed. My new insurance cards don't have a phone number for roadside assistance; that process has to start online. In February, I tried to cancel my policy online twice. Next, I tried canceling via live chat once.

Lastly, I tried canceling by phone three times. During the first call, I was told to call back because all lines were busy. The last two calls kept me on hold for over an hour before talking to a representative. Both representatives (weeks apart) told me that there's an IT issue preventing my policy cancellation—an issue that has apparently lasted for weeks. In 50 years of insured driving, I have never had a problem with an insurance company until Toggle. Based on the extreme difficulty I've had trying to get things done with Toggle, I really think that they don't want my business, or they want out of the auto insurance business. Yet they won't cancel my policy. Since the policy was paid in full, this delay (going on a month now) is eating away at my refund, which I had hoped to apply to my new insurance.

Toggle provides extremely bad service, and they won't let you leave.

This is honestly the worst insurance…

This is honestly the worst insurance company I ever dealt with. I was a customer of theirs for only two weeks because it was a complete disaster in those two weeks. I signed up with Jacob Chopa Who did not add the correct coverages and when I contacted him he told me he would call me back by the end of the day he never did so for the next three days I called and emailed but he completely ignored me. I then spent the next two weeks talking to customer service reps who each time assured me everything would be fine. They told me they took my payment and that I was all paid in full yet the money was still in my bank account. The final straw is when one of the Farmers agents called me back and then I guess they thought they put me on hold but didn’t. I proceeded to hear him whispering with some female and she said oh no, don’t tell her that and they were talking about my account until finally I said excuse me you know I can hear you right? As soon as I said that they hung up the phone! I called back and cancelled!

No longer blinded

I had been a Farmers customer for years and always loved how personal and great the customer service was, but lately have been struggling with this company. Upon renewal my policy shot up a most ridiculous amount. I missed it the first two times, but later discovered they were charging me $400 more for another driver on my policy! I had not agreed to this, nor knew who this person was. Once I renewed my policy, they agreed to then remove the other driver. With this person and their cost removed my policy was still a couple hundred too much. In conclusion, loyalty gets you nowhere. Every 6 months the cost rises a few hundred dollars more despite filing no claims, no tickets etc. all the while they say it's due to inflation and so many more statewide accidents. Guess their customers will be dishing out another couple hundred more, because I won't be contributing to the pool any longer.

Great company and service!

I recently had an outstanding experience with Farmers Insurance that truly exceeded my expectations. From the onset, their customer service was impeccable - friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to go the extra mile to assist. When I faced an unexpected issue, their response was prompt and efficient, ensuring a smooth resolution that left me thoroughly impressed. The comprehensive coverage options they offered were tailored perfectly to my needs, providing peace of mind and excellent value for money. Moreover, the ease and clarity of their claims process stood out as a highlight, making what is often a stressful situation remarkably hassle-free. Overall, Farmers Insurance has proven to be a reliable and customer-focused provider, deserving of the highest recommendation for anyone seeking quality insurance services.

They acted in bad faith and used the Old Google satellite photo to cancel my policy! They didn't even ask me about, could they do a visit or anything to maintain the policy, they did this because they thought I was going to claim any service to repair the roof of my property but it is not necessary to do that. I never used the insurance. Previous and would never use it for anything deceptive, they acted in very bad faith.

Don't Just Walk Away, Run

So, I was a loyal costumer of Farmers Insurance (5 years) and then they screwed me over, by tying my policy with a complete stranger (who caused my insurance policy to fail). Unfortunately for me I had moved (college student) and the mailing address had change so I did not get the information of my failed insurance policy. I only discovered I didn't have insurance when I got pulled over, which resulted in a $380 fine, and a mark on my driving record.

I asked to see if Farmers state would make it right, and to my disgust, I couldn't even get another equal policy because my last policy had fail (due to the complete stranger (that they tied to me) and they wanted to charge me even more.

Basically, Farmers state is a scam, and don't just walk away, RUN

These parasites promised a 14.00 dollar…

These parasites promised a 14.00 dollar reduction in my rate if I went paperless. Went paperless. They sent out the payment notice reflecting the 14.00 reduction. Today received notice that they are removing the 14.00 reduction and will require full payment. No reason given. These loathsome thieves will soak you every time. Will be actively looking for a new carrier.

High Fire Insurance in California…

Our Farmers agent is the only person who could get our home insured in California, in a 99/100 high fire area.

Although he couldn’t get the insurance through Farmers, he reached out to other companies and made it happen.

Horrible experience

Was courted by Farmers with a great price on auto and home. Switched to them and for 1st year 2023 all was good. NO claims. In 2024 renewal cars went up 100%. From 342 for six months to 852 now. Home went up 30%. What really angered me was I paid in full on both policies and they charged me an extra 30.00 because even though I bought both policies from Farmers rep they weren't the same company. They cared so little about me as a customer so I will be switching from them soon.

Horrible communications and customer…

Horrible communications and customer service qualities. Very unprofessional group of people who are either poorly trained, educationally unprepared for the job or just downright crooked. Everything that can go wrong is likely to go wrong and they can’t figure out why. Other companies just plain do better in all respects.

I switched my car insurance to Farmers…

I switched my car insurance to Farmers and was assigned agent William Bartra, who was rude and smug from the very beginning. I should have taken that as a sign, but against my better judgment, I went with it. What a mistake that was! I was shocked to learn that my registration had been suspended due to this agent's negligence in failing to do his job. When I confronted him about it, he tried to gaslight me by making me believe it was somehow my fault and responsibility. When I informed him that the CA DMV said it was actually his job and responsibility to electronically submit the necessary paperwork to inform them of my switching to Farmers, he didn't seem to care.
I was so upset I was literally crying on the phone to this man, trying to explain that I did not know how to rectify the situation, as I have no experience in the car insurance business. I also explained that I was a victim of stalking and had recently been diagnosed with cancer, so mentally and physically, I was not in the right mindset to comprehend how to fix it. He was so insensitive; he didn't want to listen and kept insisting it was my responsibility. He tried to emotionally invalidate my feelings in an attempt to manipulate the situation and avoid taking responsibility for his mistake. Moreover, he was so rude that he let out a loud belch right in the middle of our conversation. I can't even begin to express the absolute disgust I felt.
I regret ever having switched and will be canceling my policy with Farmers in April. I will continue to tell all my family and friends about the horrible experience I had with this insurance company. I couldn't even imagine what it would be like to have to file a claim with this company if they can't even handle something as minor as sending proof of insurance to the DMV.

Worst customer experience ever

Worst customer experience ever. My agent had informed me trees needed to be trimmed away from my house or I may be cancelled. I called a crew out and had it done the next week. She came and took pictures to send to Corporate and told me it looked good.

Two months later I received notice—not from Sabine, not from Farmers, but from MY BANK-- that my policy had been cancelled 10 days prior.

I don’t know who dropped the ball, my agent or Farmers, but it wasn’t me. I found the agent to be largely unresponsive to the issue and found another company to go with three weeks after the cancellation. I intend to let the State insurance board know what happened. Maybe I’m not the only one this has happened to. Maybe it was less a mistake and more a tactic… like Red Lining.

Awful service

Awful service. Representatives seem to be bottom of the barrel quality and their policies are equally atrocious. They are flying under the umbrella of 'Toggle Insurance' and heaven forbid if you need immediate assistance. Not only do you get routed all over the country, none of them seem to give a damn and it can take over an hour to get in contact with anyone. Been with them for years prior to this new company formation and would no longer recommend them to anyone.

Most states have insurance commissioners and people should also report their concerns to the insurance commissioner or to the consumer hotline This is the only way for them to know what consumers are experiencing.

I am shocked with the quote Farmers…

I am shocked with the quote Farmers gave me for my homeowners insurance. I get dropped by QBE because their relationship ended w/ 21st century. I have been with 21st Century for over 20 years. I always paid my yearly premium on time and filed no claims. It turns out Farmers bought out 21st Century. So naturally I called them to get a renewal of my homeowners insurance. They quote me $5500.00, absolutely unconscionable. I was paying $1500,00 every year, now they want to jack me up. It's unbelievable. I then called AAA and they gave me a $2200 quote. Farmers is an insane company. I would not ever use them.

Dropped us because of our Trees

Farmers dropped us due us having TREES growing over our roof. We paid 2K to have the trees trimmed and sent in photos and we were still denied. No trees are in contact with the house whatsoever. We live in an older established neighborhood where probably 85% of the homes have trees over the roof. We have 4 large, healthy pecan trees. They are not dead, rotting, or split. They have provided us with shade (therefore decreasing our energy costs) for the 15 years we have owned our home and NEVER have we had an issue with homeowners insurance before now. We have had different insurance companies over the years. I am so angry with them because we submitted pictures and we were still denied and subsequently dropped from insurance and at this time, we don't have any coverage. Do yourself a favor and go with someone else!

I would give no stars if possible, but…

I would give no stars if possible, but it does not allow it. Before using Farmer's for insurance, we had only had 1 claim that was quickly processed and approved by our prior insurance. Farmers is completely different. We had 2 claims. 1 for our roof, that was denied. They came out, stated "Only hail damage is covered",and denied the claim, though there was water spots on the upstairs ceiling. Result,we paid out of pocket to have the roof repaired, with the adjuster apologizing profusely, but "As much as I want to,there is nothing I can do,because only hail damage is covered". Our second claim was for a water heater failure, which resulted in water damage and mold. After nearly 2 weeks of dealing with no water, multiple contractors, and an extremely irritated family, Farmers denied the claim. They would help with nothing. Thetre explanation was it was not covered. So,we were stuck with an estimate of nearly 20,000 dollars, which our insurance would not help with,at all. Not the water damage, any of the mold,or anything else. If you do insure with Farmers, understand you have the required policy for your mortage, but you have no actual coverage. They will deny all claims regardless of cause or condition. I would not reccomend using them at all.

The worst customer experience!

I've been with the company for 8 years. They decided to change my payment schedule and said they sent a letter in the mail asking me to confirm the banking info. I never received this and they canceled my insurance without notification. No certified letter or email. Then they wouldn't reinstate. Stay away from this company.

I have had Farmers Insurance for 33…

I have had Farmers Insurance for 33 years for my home and was paying it through my escrow account. I now have my home paid off and found the new charge for annual insurance too high. I found another company lthst is reasonable and canceled my insurance. They charged me $85 for the 10 days that covered me and I did not get that bill until it was past due in the mail. No agent bothered to call me and they sent it to a collection agency. I never got a call from agent! I have paid it but if this is the way you treat a customer of 33 years that had one small claim in all those years. You are lousy and I will share this with friends and family. Shame on you!!!!!
