Great deals but dubious case-handling

About six months ago I bought chicken-bits (or pieces, rather, as you'd purchase at KFC) - I think the term is 'pop-chicken' - in a bag for about seven-pounds from their Torquay outlet and which gave the aftertaste of excrement (like an odour in taste form).

Yesterday, I told their head-office and the reply was that I didn't have the receipt and so they couldn't investigate.

Why did their pop-chicken taste like that? My concern was that the company is farm produce related, on some level, and therefore the question arising...what exactly goes into some of these foods on a 'natural' level.

I did initially think the problematic item was a brand of onion-rings as these also give off the same aftertaste, while the onion-rings, having just eaten more after being in the freezer are (after Farm Foods checked the barcode on them,) a Lidls item.

Had there been onion-rings from two different retailers giving off that aftertaste then this possibly could equate to the sulphur in onions not having been 'treated' properly prior to the manufacturing stage but for the situation to not be involving onion-rings from two retailers but rather onion-rings from one and pop-chicken from another brings us to the conclusion that there are ingredients in both their chicken and also Lidl's onion-rings which require looking into - the specific ingredient is probably present in order to fill-out / add to...the mass / weight of the package.

Farm Foods could quite easily have phoned the Torquay outlet to see if their bags of chicken were still being sold, so as to find out more, yet even if not sold anymore then I am sure the staff-members would remember the product as it was the only one like it which was sold for that price. I was cut off, very obviously, from engaging in further enquiry.

Thanks also to Ewan. who did the same for me last week (sometime). From a very grateful OAP with walking/ balancing difficulties.

I always find the staff at the Lang Stracht branch so helpful. I have trouble walking and with arthritis. One staff member loaded my trolley with 3 x twelve cartons of milk for me. Zara at the checkouts lifted them into my car boot for me, and also returned the trolley to the 'park'. Thank you ZARA for being so helpful. Top marks to you - 10* review.

Farm foods ripped me off charged me for…

Farm foods ripped me off charged me for 4 packs of steak pies and 1 pack of minced beef and onion £1.99 each, what I actually bought was 2 packs of steak pies and 2 packs of mince and onion, I also used a £2 off £25 coupon, they over changed me for a pack of pies and never gave me the £2 off.
I contacted customer service because I live miles away from the store gave them my receipt number, the response I got was incredible, being the 28th April I was informed the prices on the leaflets were expired, they had expired on the 30th April, and the coupon had expired in may, the coupon actually expires tomorrow 30th April.
The first reply I got was even worse, apparently customer service doesn't deal with my type of enquiry, they offered no solution surely they are over stocked by 2 packs of steak pies, and under stocked 1 mince and onion.
But not the slightest bit interested that they stole £3.99 off me. I sent them a picture of the pies, and my receipt. I won't be going back there they are criminals and thieves.

I have now had an apology from farm foods and seems someone finds overcharging as bad as shoplifting, that I understand is blighting the UK retail sector.
Whilst £3.99 to me isn't anything, to someone else it could be eating. So I've changed the review to 3* 2 for them getting my point.

Mostly Positive from Me

I don’t recognise many of the negative reviews posted here. My local Farmfoods in Blyth, Northumberland is usually very well stocked and the staff very professional. Sometimes they might run out of Special Offers but only because they are such excellent value. The only product I’ve been unable to purchase recently is diced avocado. Not sure whether it is no longer stocked or simply unavailable but it makes avocado on toast so much easier than trying to judge the ripeness of fresh fruit!

Check your bill before you leave the store.

Ive shopped in farmfoods branches close to home for years now and slowly the level of service is getting worse. Shopped tonight and overcharged once again. As others have said advertised items are often not available but I accept the deals are very good so go quickly. What I dont understand is why staff dont know what has been advertised. I dont usually complain as I spend a lot and used to use multiple coupons they supplied so ignored the overcharge accepting it was absorbed by the coupons. But now you have to ask for the coupons online and despite it saying you can use multiples of each reduction they only supply one of each. So now the over charge is not quite so easy to ignore. Tonight I was overcharged on two items they sent an advert for earlier in the day. Biscuits advertised as £1 29 yet appear on my bill as £1.79 despite me checking the price and telling the young cashier I didnt want them before she added them to my shopping. And I was charged for a completely different tray of water to the one I bought £1 dearer. I will change store again and next time check the bill before I leave as a £1.50 overcharge is a lot for a pensioner.

Having looked into this further, I can see that the £1.29 offer on our Tunnock's biscuits started today, but was emailed to customers yesterday so that they knew about the offer. Bad experience with young cashier

Joseph the young cashier, from Aylesbury branch, didn't make our trip the most pleasant, apart from putting his friends in line before us to serve them, he threw our food and caught it by slamming the boxes of frozen goods together, then as my card didn't get authorised, he went on to say in a loud voice, 'try again mate' apart from the fact my husband and I were probably twice his age the very fact he was loud enough for everyone to hear wasn't just rude but bad customer service, we scanned the card again and went through and then said thanks and proceeded to the next customer before our receipt was printed.... Was not impressed! He needs proper training and learn how to communicate with people!!

Farmfoods Rubery Staff

Farmfoods Rubery Staff

I use farmfoods almost everyday as i am cake maker and they often have products that I need at a very good price but the main reason that I shop at my local store is because of the staff.
I am a customer of some years of age and not in the best physical and mental health ( due to a bereavement) some days and I often use my shopping trips as a social outting too and I find that the staff always greet me with a smile and a kind words, which goes a long way when I am having a not so great day.
The main member of the team there is a chap by the name of David. He is always smiling and happy ( or at least he appears to be) and always offers me a warm welcome to the store. No errand is too big or small for him. He will always reach the things I need from the high shelves as I am shorter than some, he has helped me to my car if I am in some pain, he always lets me know if they have any special offers on and always has a kind word for not just myself but every customer that I have seen him interact with.
I have come to find out that he is not the store manager, which very much surprised me as he is always busy and helping his colleagues.
I did not want another day to go by without singing this young man's praises and I shall certainly continue to shop there while he is at work there.
5 STARS from me and thank you David ( not sure if he will see this but perhaps the upper management team could let him know how much I value his excellent service and I shall of course recommend this Rubery store to my friends and family ).

Farmfoods is a brilliant store that does very well, best by it's customers considering the stiff competition it has from Iceland, all the supermarket s, online & Amazon to be up against, the staff are overwhelmingly very good considering the backgrounds I see that they come from and the limited communication skills they have gotten from such.
Prices are excellent overall considering & they have specialist surprise discounts for on the ball customers, these sell fast as hot cakes, you have to be a loyal regular to be on top of these super promotions

Love to shop in the immingham farmfoods…BUT!!

Love to shop in the immingham farmfoods well that was until i met sharon! I was waiting at a till (no staff at it) looking around to see if there was any staff, well down the bread isle there was 1 staff member, they looked up and towards the till then carried on with their work but by this point there was 6people waiting to be served at the till!! The staff member walk very very slowly up towards the till and i said ‘ is this the right till love’ after she looked me up and down like i was dog dirt on her shoes very abruptly she said YES!!!!! (I thought how RUDE) she throws your items down the other side of the till. She clearly dont care about customers or the items they buy! Its clear shes NOT1 to have on the shop floor as they say she might be better off cleaning rugs! In a different shop!!!! This is the 3rd time of having an issue with her and now others need to be warned about her attitude! The other staff that work there are grate even to say theres one lady who knows me know and NOTHING is to much trouble as i always get fantastic service from her!! ITS JUST SHARON!!! Shes NOT a nice person!!!!!

Farm foods offer very good value for…

Farm foods offer very good value for money items, however stocks always seem to be low, no matter what time I go - more visits than not, everything I'm looking for is sold out or not enough on the shelf to benefit from the deals on offer e.g. 3 for £5. Can drinks deals (cases) is the only thing ever in abundance on every visit I make. We try to go on different days at different times but experience the same issue regarding stock, regardless. A shame really because prices are great value for money but left disappointed on every visit. Businesses buy in bulk to resell or use in their restaurants etc. There should be a limit to the amount businesses can buy so that normal households can benefit also!

I wrote a review about Jess The Manager…

I wrote a review about Jess The Manager of Holderness Road branch in Hull Previously and was Reassured Her Unprofessionalism and School Girl Bullying/Harrasment would be Challenged By Taya the Area Manager ,who I rang again today after Yet another experience were Jess deliberately tried and Succeeded in Winding me up by Starting a loud conversation with her Colleague which pretty much is the Norm were She Starts Conversations about Nice Customers giving Positive Feedback and that she and other managers were discussing and Laughing at Negative Feedback which She knows I have and quite rightly,Maybe she didn't know presumably because she is Immature and Unprofessional that,I began texting Taya who I rang when I got back to my Car Verbatim/ Word for Word what Jess was Saying, and Taya Apologised and assured me she was Challenging her behaviour Again, and I asked for Feedback also asking what the next stage of their complaints procedure was,I did emphasise that dispite Jess trying to involve her Colleague into The Conversation, and emphasised she was supportive when I complained about Jess before Christmas, and was Helpful lady getting me Rio drinks from a high shelf which the sign directs you to do, I told Taya I used to do lots of shopping in Farmfood Holderness Road, but Due to Jess the Managers unprofessionalism which slagging Customers off to other Colleagues is the measure of her total Disrespect of customers, and seems to Taya the area Manager who I understand was dealing with her yet again, and ringing me to give me feedback,I feel that Farmfoods higher Management needs to deal with these type of matters to Improve Customer relations ,as when you look up a Company the Base Line for Farmfood is poor, and wonder if that is Not Pointed out to Failing Unprofessional Managers ,That Their Interaction with Customers Represents The Company as a whole ,I pointed out that People who behave that way should Not be Forward Facing If as my Experience, they are unprofessional, and In Able to improve,That starts by Growing up,and not Action Like a Mean Girl School Yard Bully,You are Supposed To By Professional and Lead By Example,If You are Unable to do So change Jobs with No Customer Interaction!
