Avoid at all costs

Avoid at all costs. Item does not match images, customer service is by far the worst I've ever experienced. They actually want to charge me for a return then literally sent the same incorrect product to me 3 days later. Exceptionally rude, think consumer rights don't apply to them. Refuse to engage in resolution dispute and won't give me the customer complaints details

Cannot help with delivery restrictions and don't care

I wish I had read the reviews before spending a lot of time selecting products, watching installation videos etc. I chose this company due to them being UK based, UK manufactured and the helpful website. I had also noted to 'make them aware of any delivery restrictions' which I duly did today with the intention of placing a next day delivery. I live in a rural area and large vehicles cannot access my address. I called to advise of the narrow access and vehicle size limitations only to be told they have no control over the size of vehicles that make the delivery. They could not advise what size of order (I only wanted a few small gabion baskets) would determine how delivery would be made nor give me any assurance that if the delivery company did not select a suitable size vehicle and could not make the delivery that I would not be charged to redeliver. I am staggered at how completely unhelpful and frankly disinterested the person I spoke to was.
I'll take my business elsewhere with a company which actually values its customers. So glad I did not place my order then find out they were so useless. Gabion baskets from Screwfix it is!

No nonsense

True. The lady that I spoke to on the telephone certainly has spirit but after disarming her with politeness she could not have been more useful and informative in advising me on the correct product to purchase.
Everything arrived efficiently and on time. The quality looks very good.

I think I had a lucky escape not buying…

I think I had a lucky escape not buying my aviary from this company.

I had problems putting the payment through £1800.00 (turned out that my bank was pending it for security reasons) unbeknown to me at the time. So I thought I would call Fine mesh metals simply to ask if there was a problem their end.

I was polite from the start, however the woman who answered the phone was beyond rude, I have never been spoken to like that by any company or by anyone else for that matter. She seriously needs anger management therapy.

Looking at the reviews on here others have experienced her wrath. Others have had problems with panels being damaged or wrong parts and absolutely no customer care afterwards.

I wasn't prepared to line their pockets after my experience with her. So I took my £1800.00 to a company who were polite and £300 cheaper.

Fine mesh metal obviously don't need custom otherwise they would sack the Rottweiler on the phone.

Avoid!!

Disgraceful attitude from the woman who…

Disgraceful attitude from the woman who answered the phone. Extremely argumentative and condescending when I was only trying to get a quote. The women was extremely rude and extremely unhelpful. In all my years in the construction industry, I don't think I've ever been spoken to so poorly. I don't think they realise they are in sales. Shocking! avoid avoid avoid!!!!!!!

Approach from Sales, very, very good

This is the second time I have used Fine Mesh Metals - on this occasion I sent them a sketch of what I wanted and asked some specific questions by email - Alex phoned me to clarify my needs, answered my questions and then quoted me the same day. Alex clearly knew her subject! The quote was spot on as was her further 'explanation' of what was offered . I don't usually write reviews until I have accepted delivery, but I feel I really need to say how it is - what an excellent experience - well done Alex!

Never use this company

Never use this company

I ordered pre-cut mesh for three gabion baskets from this company. They were delivered to the wrong address (delivery cost £55.20!) and now assembled they are the wrong size. I was told this was my mistake when ordering online yet the ordering method online is so confusing, a mistake can be made by the customer and there is no redress. I was told to resubmit an order and pay the difference but the various people I spoke to were so defensive and unbelievably rude, it was better to lose the money - about £120 if you include the extortionate delivery cost - and look elsewhere. I am still uncertain that the mistake was mine and bewildered that this company, who make bespoke products, did not give me a quick call to point out the problem if so. It simply does not make sense to have ended up in this position.
As for the rudeness, I don't think that I have EVER heard a person say "be quiet!" during a customer service call when I was trying to explain to them that the discrepancy in the ordering process was confusing. I felt intimidated by the people who work for Fine Mesh - totally counterintuitive on their part as they may get a few quid from me but it does not bode well for future trade!
This is the problem with retrieving any satisfaction when something goes wrong in online shopping - once they have your money there is little you can do to get it back. I am a consumer journalist with 25 years experience and I have never been spoken to in this way or had a similar experience. I spoke to two directors and a (perfectly nice) junior member of staff - but the bosses were very aggressive. This company has more than one website listed on Google - do beware. I have noted that the negative comments from other reviewers mention the rudeness and appalling customer service. Incidentally when I mentioned to them that I had retrospectively read other damning reviews on TrustPilot, Andy (another "director") said "Trust Pilot is absolute rubbish".

Purchased some gabions over the…

Purchased some gabions over the telephone. They telephoned me to arrange the delivery for Friday 8th Oct after 10. I stayed in all day and their delivery company telephoned me to state they were rather busy and would deliver Monday. I stated that if that was the case then don’t deliver . They then stated they wouldeliver Saturday. What a total waste of my time. If they do not arrive tomorrow I will do a recharge on my credit card. Shame that Fine Mesh couldn’t organise a P*** up in a brewery. Will not use again.

AVOID THIS COMPANY

I ordered mesh panels for my aviary on 27/7/21. My review is actually extremely similar to the one written by Craig on 7th April! I phoned to place my order on 27th and was told that my panels were in stock and would arrive in 7 working days. I paid £692.15 which included £144 for delivery. Today I phoned to chase up my order as I had received no further communication. I was informed that my panels had not even been dispatched and the estimated arrival date would be between 15-20 July. I was obviously not satisfied with this and was put through to the managing director. From the outset, his attitude was appalling. His words were “ I can’t magic them out of thin air if they are not in stock!”
I asked why I had been told that they were in stock when I placed my order and he asked me if I wanted an argument!!!!!! I was extremely polite during the conversation but he did not seem to grasp the fact that:
a. I have every right to question the above as a customer
b. If one places an order and is told that the items are in stock and pays for them under these circumstances, then OBVIOUSLY one would expect this order to be honoured.
c. As a customer, one would expect a polite and reasonable response to a query.

I believe that my payment was taken under false circumstances which is immoral and the customer servIce disgraceful. I am not in the least surprised that 56% of customers have written a bad review (1 star) about this company.
In addition, I was told today that I would receive my refund immediately. Once again, I have been lied to as I this has not been the case. I intend to chase this up now and if it is not forthcoming, I will post another negative review.

I have since contacted the company and have been told that my refund has been processed but that it will take 2 days to appear in my bank account.

Gabion cages

Have ordered gabion cages on two occasions recently. Both orders have been dispatched and arrived promptly. I have no complaints about the quality of the cages either.

WARNING! PLACE YOUR ORDER ELSEWHERE!

What an appalling company to deal with, the customer service is disgusting and the way they speak to customers is shocking but obviously only after they have taken your money. I have been waiting 10 days for my baskets and now the job is still on hold which has cost me more money.
I have to say, Alex is nice and has helped me but the other woman that answers the phone needs sacking for how rude she is. I went through to the Director and he is just as bad. He may have a business but I assure you it’s only down to the product and certainly not down to his people skills, he wouldn’t even compromise and give me the delivery money back being as though I’ve lost out at least £200. Everything on the below reviews is exactly what I’ve experienced so be warned, do not use these, there are other companies out there doing the same things and are much more helpful. I urge you to look elsewhere before placing an order with these, they are not fit to be in business.

After much research Fine Mesh Metals…

After much research Fine Mesh Metals provided the best value for money and fastest delivery - cheaper than others too
Project was gabion wall. Easy to use their designer to build the cart. Their designer is bullet proof/over engineered but better safe than sorry.

Totally fine transaction

Totally fine transaction. Placed my order, received email confirmation and expected delivery day. Was pleasantly surprised to find delivery within 24 hours by a courteous and professional individual. All materials correct and sell packaged. Wou!d use again.

Appalling customer service- rude and…

Appalling customer service- rude and arrogant. They charged £40 delivery and then delivery driver would not deliver to our home - just simply left in the middle of a gravel road (not ours!) and then swore at us! Charming egh!

I would not recommend that anyone uses this company - the owner an absolute piece of work that simply laughed at us and told us he couldn’t care less about a review!

Don't bother, awful customer service!

Don't bother!
The Price Match banner pops up over and over again but with caveats...no problem. I rang to speak to someone to discuss my order but without even knowing what I was ordering or where I had quotes from she simply told me they won't be the same so we won't price match. She told me, I could email it in but they wouldn't price match as the ones i had been quoted wouldn't last even though she didn't have any info.

NOT GOOD BUSINESS

Not one to moan but when you spend nearly £1200 you expect some sort of communication or reply to emails. Spoke to someone on phone morning after I made order,I was informed that items would be here this week over. Asked several times same thing . £100 delivery charge Thursday comes and still no delivery or reply to emails or updates on order. Had to call once again to then be told it will be end of next week now. Sorry but not good enough you charge £100 for delivery and website states 2-3 day delivery now I'm being told next week.
Booked time off work for this so I could get completed as I was told would be here ????

Appalling customer service

First the positive - their products seem quite good. The unfortunate fact is this is coupled with the worse customer service I've ever experienced.

I placed the first order via their website which went relatively smoothly although there was some damage probably caused by the courier. The second order I placed and paid for over the phone but when I received the invoice I noticed I'd been overcharged for delivery. I mentioned this in an email and I was fobbed off and then ignored. When the goods arrived I noticed I had been short-changed on the lacing wire. I also mentioned this in an email and again I was fobbed off, patronised and then ignored. So I called them to discuss and was met with rudeness and a total inability or willingness to address the problems - they were well aware they were in the wrong but had absolutely no intention of resolving the problem.

I spent £1080 with this company and they just didn't give a damn.

Update - this matter has now been resolved to my satisfaction but only after posting this review. Hopefully they'll learn from the experience.

terrible service, damaged items, no reply after 6 MONTHS

I am writing this review to advise others never to buy from this company - EVER!
I bought a few panels from them a few weeks ago.
I spent over £140.00
( no options at checkout other than next day - no info on delivery company, no choices at all - this is important - see their RUDE reply later on)
I was sent a text message the following week stating the delivery would be on a certain date - lets call it day 1, and I needed to have someone to be in to sign for it, even though in my order I had asked for it to be left around the back, where it would have been safe.
As I am disabled I needed another person to take a day off too, to help move the heavy metal panels to the back.
Day 1 - no delivery - I called but got voicemail. I called the delivery company and got voicemail.
Day 2 - both of us had to take the day off work again - no delivery.
I called the delivery company first, and got through - they advised that finemeshmetals had it set up so customers cannot ask questions. I called finemeshmetals several times and towards the end of the day I got through and spoke to their customer service chap. He was not surprised that their delivery was late, and said he would email the delivery company.
I offered to give him the delivery company telephone number as I did not want any further delay and he had not been offering any sort of advice as what to do next. He advised they could not call their own delivery company, but had to email them and it would be a day or so until they got a reply, and that was it - no apologies about the dalay no offer of assistance and no offer of advice as to whether we needed to stay in again the next day.
I wrote an email to finemeshmetals to complain about the delivery service they had chosen to use and that for the £19.00 delivery fee I expected a better service!
Day 3 - we arranged for another person to take a day off work and stay home - NO delivery again!!!
I did get a RUDE email from one of the employees (not allowed to mention his name here) at finemeshmetals stating that finemeshmetals thought that all of their customers were too cheap to deserve a better delivery service (paraphrasing here) and that you get the delivery you chose.
But I was not offered a choice, and quite frankly £19.00 delivery for 4 x smallish mesh panels was expensive in my opinion to start with.
No update from the delivery company.
Day 4 - the delivery arrives - unannounced, and damaged.
I contacted finemeshmetals right away and got voicemail,again. I left a detailed message, including my number etc and referenced the rude email I had recieved and asked them to contact me right away as I did not want the damaged panels.
Day 5 -No reply from finemeshmetals
Day 6 - No reply from finemeshmetals
Day 7 - No reply from finemeshmetals
Day 8 - No reply from finemeshmetals - got an automated email asking me to leave feedback!!! the cheek!!
Day 9 - No reply from finemeshmetals
Day 10 - No reply from finemeshmetals
Day 11- No reply from finemeshmetals
Day 12 - No reply from finemeshmetals
Day 13 - No reply from finemeshmetals
Day 14 - No reply from finemeshmetals
Day 15- No reply from finemeshmetals
Day 16 - No reply from finemeshmetals

So - if you buy from finemeshmetals you recive broken items, at no particular point in time, with no information and no reply when you ask them to sort out the broken items.
finemeshmetals are a total ripoff
finemeshmetals deliver broken items
finemeshmetals do no reply
finemeshmetals are rude
finemeshmetals are the worst company I have dealt with in a very long time
I would not reccomend them to my worst enemy
finemeshmetals should be ashamed of themselves.
DO NOT BUY from finemeshmetals
I originally wrote this in June 2015, I am updating it now in december 2015 to let you all know that I still have no reply, no refund, nothing from frinemeshmetals - AVOID!
