Firstcall Photo Reviews 

I was looking for a bit of retro kit - a simple viewer for 35mm slides, but was having difficulty finding exactly what I wanted until I found Firstcall Photographic. Ordering and delivery was speedy and efficient, and it is a good quality product.

I've dealt with firstcall for a number of years now. I have always received an excellent servicefrom them and would recommend them to any body without hesitation.

Firstcall are excellent- a good online ordering system and prompt dispatch. The only reason I dropped a star is because they sometimes don’t have the items I want in stock.

They are the only photographic retailer in the UK who were able to help me out with my very specific problem. Very thankful for the help and will be back again.

Had an issue with a product I bought from their website and Gill offered to exchange or refund without a quibble. Excellent customer service!

I'm a regular customer of Firstcall and am always impressed by their depth of product knowledge and helpful advice.

Having made a telephone call to FirstCall-Photographic relating to products shown on their website on the 27th October, and being told to contact an individual staff member on Monday, I then composed an email relating to my purchase enquiry and sent it on the same day. On the Monday as instructed I made the call to the telephone number given to me and the person was unavailable, I therefore left a message with the voicemail giving my telephone number for them to return my call, as of this evening the 31st October I have yet to either receive a return call or in fact receive an email, so as far as I am concerned there is a distinct lack of customer service or indeed care. Reading other reviews left by customers I note that the individual I was supposed to contact appears to be the best thing since sliced bread, however I personally find the exact opposite, and feel that to not even to receive the courtesy of an acknowledgement to either my email or the message I left smacks of a distinct lack of professionalism on the part of the company, not something that I find particularly easy to say about a supplier with whom I have yet, if ever I get the opportunity to do business with.
My star rating if it were possible would in fact be recorded as Zero.

Copied from their website "There is no minimum order value required for UK shipments, with the shipping to the UK Mainland being £7.99, including VAT". Despite staying in the UK mainland they want to charge me £21 because "shipping to non-UK Mainland being £21.00, including VAT". Now last time I looked both Aberdeen and Inverness are UK mainland and I stay bang in the middle of these two cities. Clearly false advertising and ripping off customers who have an IV postcode.

Postal charges are a bit high, especially for a firm local to me, and they don't appear to have a retail shop for collection. Offset by a very reasonable price for the item I wanted (and in stock too!)
Will use again I'm sure.

I had not used Firstcall before, however I found them to be good value, efficient and offering fast delivery.

I have used Olmec Satin for some time and it is a favourite of mine. The lustre and baryta were new to me. The lustre is also excellent quality. The baryta is very high gloss and does resemble old style photographic prints, it also provides great depth to the images. The baryta is odd in one way although the heaviest paper, individually it feels lighter than the other two papers. But when you lift the full box, it is much heavier than the other boxes, maybe it is just me. The quality is also excellent. If you have read this far the bonus fact is, that the baryta paper is so much cheaper to purchase from Firstcall than any other site that I could find (but don't tell Firstcall in case they change the price).
The only improvement I could suggest is that when ordering Olmec paper previously (from a different supplier) the box that arrived was Olmec branded. The boxes from Firstcall were generic white boxes. Therefore, maybe a note could be added to explain that papers may arrive in plain boxes.

At the same time, I also ordered Olmec paper from my old supplier as Firstcall did not stock the paper I required. This also arrived in a plain box so as time has passed Olmec may just have moved to an unbranded box.

I had a query about a purchase and whether I would receive the item before I went on holiday. They could not be more helpful, the service outstanding. I have now put them on my top seller list.

Answered my initial queries quickly and delivered my purchased item in less than 24 hours. Excellent service and proved to be the cheapest too.

I rarely leave reviews but (Rodney from) Firstcall has been outstanding from purchase to continuing support. I am not yet a big user of photographic equipment but if I do I will be looking to Firstcall as first point of contact.
