Exceptionally responsive when requesting funds but entirely neglectful when it comes to the crucial matters of communication and service
I feel compelled to share my experience with First Choice Conveyancers to warn others about the extremely poor service I have received. It is with great disappointment that I write this review, hoping that no one else will have to endure the frustration and stress I have experienced.
I began corresponding with 'Jackie' on the 19th of September, regarding the searches on my property, which were promptly paid for. Since that date, I have requested updates on these searches a staggering eight times, and to my dismay, each of these requests has gone unanswered. My solicitor, too, has made multiple attempts to seek an update, only to be met with silence.
The searches are the only outstanding issue in my property chain, and the ongoing delay is jeopardising my mortgage offer, my buyer is growing impatient due to the delays and may withdraw from the transaction, putting the entire chain in jeopardy.
While I understand that delays in property searches can happen, there is absolutely no excuse for the level of disregard I have experienced. It is infuriating to witness the same firm being exceptionally responsive when requesting funds but entirely neglectful when it comes to the crucial matters of communication and service.
My case seems to have fallen by the wayside, leaving me hanging in the balance and at risk of significant financial loss and inconvenience.
I implore anyone considering these guys to think twice before engaging their services. The level of service I have received is completely unacceptable and should not be tolerated.
Save yourself the stress and anxiety that I have endured and seek a conveyancer who values their clients and their responsibilities.
Lack of Communication, no contact details working
Contracted FirstChoice on the 12th of September and paid the initial fees. 4 weeks later, when querying the progress, I was told that the search fees had not been paid and hence no searches had been done, so I paid those fees on the 11th of October. 3 weeks on, can't get hold of anyone at the company, I tried enquiring as a new customer and within 10 mins I was contacted, yet when i explained my case i was assured someone would call me back, that was 10 days ago, and im still waiting. Please can someone call me back before I take this matter further, as its now delaying my purchase. thanks, Mr Mackan
So it's now a further 10 days since contacting this company and no response to anything. I've now started proceedings with my credit card company to recover the funds
Update April 2024. so in Jan 2024 I was issued a letter from the collections team that they had appointed (STA Unify). i explained what service they had not provided and that I was willing to pay a small part of what they had demonstrated to deliver. that being said, I was away for a week, during which time STA made demands of payments in agreement with the lower payments. stay clear of both these organisations, I think they are one of the same. in the end, I settled 60% less than what they had quoted for substandard service.

From the first point of contact, right through to the end, the team at first choice conveyancing really were very helpful. Highly recommended
Do not use this company
Do not use this company. Their "no move, no fee" policy is a complete sham. My house purchase fell through and they would not refund me the deposit I paid. This money did not go towards searches or any 3rd party fees and apparently they are keeping it in case I want to use them again.
They failed to answer several emails throughout my process and they hardly ever answer the phone. I do not wish to use them again and they are just keeping my money for themselves. They even ended official correspondence emails with a smiley face!
A completely unprofessional, negligent company who mislead their customers.

Unprofessional
Had an awful experience with this company from start to finish.
Took the initial deal out with them and paid a deposit in the evening. They said I would receive a call within 24 hours to proceed- not a problem. However, I attempted to call them multiple times the next day, simply so I could be given the name and details of my conveyancer, as I was being chased by the estate agent. Called all day long and got no response.
HOWEVER, as soon as I placed a dummy quote, I suddenly got a callback straightaway. Apparently my call wasn’t picked up as it was Dans number and he was off. This despite the fact the number is the main phone number plastered all over their website and communications.
Turns out that these guys simply forward your case to a panel of conveyancers, and don’t make you aware of this at the time. Sadly the conveyancers they sent me to were really really poor. I then asked for a refund. A refund that took many many ignored phone calls and emails. But a refund I eventually got.
Dan & Connor were the 2 people I dealt with. In my opinion, they are extremely unprofessional. I had Dan hang up on me as he didn’t like the fact I asked for a refund. I then had Connor email me to say that I clearly have nothing better to do with my time than leave reviews about people. This is so unprofessional it’s laughable.
It’s also interesting to see how many other people they have threatened with legal action when a negative review is left.
Ultimately I got my money back, but through a lot of wasted time and stress. There are some good reviews here, but almost all of the bad reviews say practically the same thing. Maybe this is due to them being a fairly new company, who knows
I’d previously left multiple reviews here, but have removed them and condensed it into one.

Extra fee, delay, unreliable
First of all the quote what they gave to us seemed a good deal for helping us buying our first home. Once they got the fees there where problems came up. They told us (even if they assured us before "no extra fees" will come up) that our property searches will cost us an extra £300 saying our lender requires specific searches so we agreed on it. Not to mention that they have carried out searches on another property first so we have been delayed almost 2 weeks. Afterwards we were asking about AML check link for weeks (they already have been paid for it in June). Finally we got a link which we completed and they said it has been sent to our solicitor. Today (31st August) is supposed to be our completion day so our solicitor asked us about AML checks. After several emails (again!!) they finally forwarded our checks. I cannot even mention how many times we have to call or email First Choice Conveyancing to get information about process and got the answer "Leave it with me, I will sort this out for you". Unfortunately it did not happened until I called them again and again…..

Con artists pretending to be a conveyancing firm
I would give this company a 0 review if I could. They are total con artists! Avoid them at all costs. They aren’t a conveyancing firm themselves they quote you a fee then send your case to a panel of conveyancers. They basically give you a false made up quote, cheap as chips once you’ve I instructed them you have to pay a £200 file opening fee. After that you have to pay a further £300 for your searches which they don’t quote you for but are aware that you are going to purchase with a mortgage through the initial questionnaire you complete. Then the price quoted keeps increasing with various costs. I cancelled them 3 weeks ago and yet I am still waiting for my refund! Please don’t use them!
Update 29th August 2023; I called yet again today to chase up my £200 and spoke to a very rude man, he didn’t give me his name just argued that my review was incorrect but couldn’t tell me which part though. Just kept saying all of it was incorrect ! When I asked for my refund which I’ve now been waiting on for almost a month, his response was ‘I’ll pass the message on’ and then put the phone down. First Choice Conveyancing you are not a first class business but con artists who pretend to be a legitimate business. When I spoke to Kallie on Saturday 26th August she advised me that the reason my refund hadn’t been issued is because First Choice Conveyancing’s bank is a Dubai bank which has been frozen so they haven’t been able to issue refunds!! This just sums up the type of con artists you are. I will keep leaving reviews until my refund has been issued!!!
Update; 31st August- As this company has no intention of refunding the £200 paid we’ve had to proceed to small claims court to get this money back. This is wasted time money and added stress at an already stressful time. Please avoid using this company.
Response: Please listen back to the conversation I had with Kallie on Saturday 26th August 2023 at approximately 10:30 am in which she confirmed that the reason why the refund has not been issued is because your company holds a Dubai bank which has been frozen so that has prevented you from undertaking any banking transactions/refunds. If I’ve said anything incorrect please sue me.
Not sure what you want us to email about. You have had multiple emails requesting a refund of the £200 which was paid on the 28th July. We’re into September tomorrow yet this refund still hasn’t been issued! You owe a refund of £200 that was paid from MY bank account for a conveyancing matter for my son. My son had authorised you to communicate with me regarding all matters. He has today completed the paperwork for to take the matter to a small claims court having waited 4 weeks for a refund. Your manager Mr Connor claimed that the reason the refund had not been issued in 4 weeks is due to him being in hospital. This was at the start of the week. We’re now almost at the end of another week, yet no refund despite promising to refund it. Furthermore, does that mean your business stops if your manager/owner is not around? I’d expect that from a one man band not a reputable conveyancing firm as you ‘claim’ to be.
Update: 9th September 2023
We have now been chasing this company since 28th July 2023 for a refund. Despite multiple emails requesting a refund they’ve claimed a whole host of reasons as to why they haven’t been able to refund us, such as claiming that their business bank account was ‘frozen’ temporarily, then their manager Connor had been in hospital and he was then working through his backlog (that was 2 weeks ago). We’ve still not received the refund. We were asked to send an email to their info email address sort out a refund as per their response below, which we duly did, guess what still no refund. Even when they stated on the 31st August in their response that a refund would be issued in a few days! 10 days later still no refund! Now when we call they hang up the phone as soon as they know I’m chasing a refund. Emails sent both from myself and my son chasing the refund are now simply being ignored. These con artists of a company need to be reported. I have never dealt with a company who simply refuse to issue a refund when it’s due! Not sure how legal this is! By the looks of other customer reviews this seems to be how they make their money!
I will not give up until you have issued my refund! The best thing to make me go away is issue our refund immediately!!!!!!

This Company's post sale support is…
This Company's post sale support is shocking and extremely below what is expected from a supoosdely professional conveyancing solictor firm. They do not advise you of your designated point of contact of who will be dealing with property purchse, they DO NOT follow up on email/telephone queries with no engagement whatsover to disucss concens or explain the next steps, What they are do excel in is leaving Cliients "hanging in the balance" and "passing the book" advising any issues found upon survey reports whould be discussed with the etsta eagent and not them - so what are we paying them for! 3 weeks later and still left hanging in the balance - Applaing service and do not recommend them to anyone
Ps The response provided by First Choice below is not correct. A Director named Connor has just sent me 3 x abrupt emails, again a worry

An Unfortunate Experience with First Choice Conveyancing: A Stressful Journey with Little to Show
Opting to work with First Choice Conveyancing turned out to be a decision I deeply regret. The experience not only consumed my time and resources but also left me without any tangible progress. Their approach, which simply involves connecting clients with solicitors, proved to be a source of immense frustration and disappointment. The solicitors they paired us with, PCS Legal, hardly communicated with us, leaving us to manage the majority of the workload ourselves.
Our interaction with PCS Legal was marked by constant frustration and disappointment. It took more than a month to receive the seller's pack, and even then, I had to take matters into my own hands and call the estate agent to force the process. PCS Legal simply shrugged off their responsibility, claiming they had done their best, and directed me to pursue the vendor's agent to acquire the pack. This added a significant layer of stress to an already challenging situation.
Despite their assertion of 'no Sale, no fees,' my experience with First Choice Conveyancing incurred a cost. A £250 fee was paid to open a file, a sum that I never saw returned. My decision to withdraw from the property purchase was a culmination of a series of frustrating events that showcased the lack of effective communication and transparency from both PCS Legal and the vendor.
Our withdrawal was primarily motivated by the omission of crucial details from the Seller's pack—details we had explicitly requested from the outset. In an email correspondence with PCS Legal, we had emphasised the significance of including these essential facts in the Seller's pack. These facts revolved around cost of an ongoing extraordinary maintenance of the building facade, which the vendor's agent verbally claimed the vendor had paid. We were also told by the agent that the leaseholders were actively buying the freehold, a pivotal piece of information that had influenced our decision to make an offer on the property. From the very beginning, we had clearly communicated to PCS Legal the importance of these factors in our interest. Our request was to have these details included under the 'maintenance' and relevant sections of the Seller's pack, as we wanted to ensure the overall satisfaction of all aspects before proceeding with paying for searches.
A week elapsed without any response from PCS Legal. During this period, I found myself embroiled in a heated exchange with the vendor's estate agent, mistakenly assuming that the omission was solely their responsibility. It was only later that I uncovered the surprising decision made by PCS Legal. Despite their assurances that they would ensure the inclusion of the requested details, they instead chose to postpone this crucial action without notifying us. This unforeseen turn of events left us unable to proceed with the necessary searches.
The lack of communication and the breach of commitment left us deeply disheartened and disillusioned. We firmly believe that the negligence displayed by PCS Legal in addressing our concerns and their decision to delay the inclusion of vital information significantly impaired our ability to conduct the necessary due diligence. Hence, we felt obligated to withdraw from the property purchase, as our confidence in their capacity to manage the process and the vendor's transparency had been significantly undermined..
I caution you to avoid First Choice Conveyancing. My encounter with them was characterized by inadequate communication, inefficiency, and financial loss. If you seek a conveyancing service that genuinely values your time, investment, and peace of mind, I urge you to explore alternative options.

I originally chose first choice…
I originally chose first choice conveyancing because all of the reviews seemed very good and the price was very reasonable. When I instructed them for my purchase and sale they then gave my case to a third party law firm which had absolutely terrible reviews. I was not happy because they did not tell me that this was their protocol, and it felt as though I had been sold something with someone that I was not actually going to receive. Unfortunately I had already sent them £350 deposit, which I swiftly requested a refund for as my case was not going to be looked after by the firm that I instructed. After been told that I would get my refund, I am still waiting for it two weeks since it had apparently been processed. I have sent numerous emails to which I have had no reply, I have called at least ten times to which no one has answered. Apparently they are having a new phone line installed and this is why no one has been answering the calls, convenient excuse if you ask me. Its funny that they were so swift in response when they wanted my money. Avoid this company at all costs. Very dishonest and poor communicators which is not what you want during a time which is known for being stressful.
