FitnessLoft trap/refusal to cancel memebrship under difficult circumstances
I joined Fitnessloft in May 2023 in Cologne. Prior to joining, I asked at the reception if it is possible to cancel the membership in case I move back home or in the case of difficult circumstances. The answer from the employee was YES. She advised me that I can fill in a form and the membership would be cancelled. However, that was not the case.
Soon After, I went through health issues, personal issues where i had to move back to Sweden and I lost my job. In addition, due to these circumstances I was having a really difficult time to mentally manage my life. I asked FitnessLoft to cancel my membership and I explained all my circumstances in details and provided letters from my Doctor and from my place of work where I lost my job. I have also provided them with a proof of address of my home in Sweden. Frankly speaking I have revealed very confidential information about me to a fitness club. Evidently, There are government agencies that I have dealt with in Germany, Sweden and the UK that have not asked for so much info. Instead, FitnessLoft asked me to provide a further documentation from a Specialist, which could lead to them giving me a resting period and extending my contract. Otherwise my contract will still be running until April 2025. This has been going on from July 2023.
I am in the process of submitting a formal complaint to the Verbraucherzentrale NRW e.V. I dont think this company cares about anything but money. I personally will never sign up with FitnessFirst or any of its affiliates, and I shall warn people of their policies and ethics.
At all cost, stay away from FitnessLoft and FitnessFirst as it is the parent company. They mislead you to sign up and they want to trap you for life.
My mistake is i did not check the reviews here as so many seem to have a problem with them.
