My car was involved in a road accident
My car was involved in a road accident. After contacting my insurance company, I was given Auto Fix's details. My car was collected on 27th January, returned after four weeks. Made several phonecalls to enquire what was going on, kept being told to contact my insurance company. When I finally managed to speak to David Bain at Auto Fix, he told me there was another underlying problem that wasn't related to the accident. Three times we were told the car was coming back, so my husband arranged to have the other problem fixed, but had to cancel as I didn't have my car back. Was told the car was coming on Monday 23rd February after 2pm, I phoned at 3.30pm to confirm this, to be told that the garage is closed. I asked for the car to be delivered before 2pm on the 24th and the keys to be posted through my letterbox which I was assured would happen but again was let down and the car didn't come till just before 4pm. I noticed that the car had more scratches on the drivers side that were not present when I gave the car. This is one company that I would definitely not recommend and if I could I would give Auto Fix a score of -1. I felt my insurance company, Auto Fix and the hire car company were not communicating with one another and we had to make unneccesary phonecalls which could have been resolved quicker.

When our driver collected your vehicle on 29th January, he reported a heavy knocking noise from the front driver’s side wheel. After inspection in our workshop, we identified a worn front lower suspension arm. This issue was not related to the insurance claim but unfortunately made the vehicle unsafe to drive. During your conversation with our Vehicle Damage Assessor, you confirmed that you would arrange to have these mechanical faults repaired privately.
Due to this underlying mechanical issue, the authorisation of the accident repairs was delayed until 2nd February. Once approved, the repairs were completed on 13th February, meaning the vehicle was only with us for 10 working days for repair.
Because of the condition of the suspension arm, the vehicle could not legally or safely be driven on the road. For this reason, we contacted your insurer, who arranged for a third party recovery agent to return the vehicle to you. I appreciate how frustrating the delays must have been, and I’m sorry for the inconvenience caused. As the recovery was managed by the insurer’s appointed agent, the scheduling and updates were out with our control, which may explain the mixed communication you received regarding delivery times and opening hours.
I would also like to clarify that we would not arrange to hand over a vehicle without the customer being present, nor would we request that keys be posted through a letterbox. This appears to have been information provided by the third party recovery agent rather than our team.
I attempted to contact you today regarding the additional scratches you’ve mentioned. We complete a detailed inspection of every vehicle on arrival and again on completion of repairs prior to hand over, and I would welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you. If you are able to get in touch at your convenience, we will be happy to review this with you and investigate fully.
