They did what nobody else could or would!

Nobody could (or wanted to) fix my trusty old iPod Classic. I know it's old tech, but I love my iPod so when the disk failed I was determined to find someone to fix it. They booked it in and turned the job around super fast while I was passing through the UK. Fixed and delivered back to me in a flash with a new flash drive! I'm super happy to get it back and super happy that they fixed my broken iPod! Five stars well earned in my opinion!

Great support

Great support, sorted out my iPod classic, replacement battery needed, clear and supportive and quick turnaround. Even gave me a call back to let me know the hours I could pick it up. Great business.

God you were happy with our service.

You might want to consider upgrading the hard drive to solid state as this improves the battery and long term reliability too.

You know where we are if you need us.

Sent my SSD to Fixmybrokenmac to…

Sent my SSD to Fixmybrokenmac to recover the data from it a few months ago.
I was first quoted around 250 pounds for the service. This then went up to 460 pounds. A few weeks later I was told it would cost 2000 pounds. When I said I couldn't justify this cost I asked for my SSD back. I then received a message saying my SSD had been damaged in transit on return from their nominated third party recovery company.. When it was returned to me it was snapped in half.
I will now never recover my data. No compensation offered.
Fixmybrokenmac said it wasn't their responsibility!
When I complained I had a patronising reply saying I should have backed up my data to start with.
Not impressed with failure to accept responsibility.
Certainly would NOT recommend.

As a business, it is very disheartening when you work really hard for a customer, and they choose to leave you such a poor review. Below you will find a detailed response, and I would ask any reader of this review to bare my response in mind, and look at the countless excellent reviews we have on a weekly basis when deciding to use us or not.

The customer was initially quoted for a replacement SSD as his was broken, not for the recovery of his data. With all new drives we offer complimentary data migration ‘were possible’ unfortunately it wasn’t possible in this customers case. We then have an additional service for extended data recovery, hence the increase in price, anyone who has ever been quoted for data recovery will know our prices for this service are very low. Unfortunately due to the nature of the damage we were not able to recover this data in-house so we offered to send the drive off to a third party data recovery service for a quote without any obligation. The third party came back with a very high price and the customer declined recovery. Unfortunately the SSD was physically damaged in transit back to us. While we agree that this was regrettable, it was a circumstance beyond our control and nothing like this has ever happened before or since. We make it VERY clear in our terms and conditions that we are not responsible for a customers data, it is the customers responsibility to have a backup of their data. Even if the customer had approved recovery, there was no guarantee it would have been successful.

We worked extremely hard to fix this customers machine (we fitted a new SSD) and tried really hard to recover his data. Unfortunately data recovery is not always possible and we can’t control what prices a third party charges. I’m at a loss as to why the customer thinks we wouldn’t want to recover his data, we would have been able to make more money if we had.

We totally understand this customers frustration and desire to blame someone for the loss of his data, however we feel it is extremely unfair to blame us. At all times we acted in good faith and a professional manner, did everything we said we would do, and did it in a timely manner.

Everything we send via courier is insured up to £1000, however, a broken SSD has no value, so compensation can’t be claimed. Both ourselves and our courier are not liable for consequential losses. Regardless, the data lost was of a personal nature and while it might have immense sentimental value, it doesn’t have a monetary value. It was on this basis that we rejected his claim for compensation, and the fact that nothing that happened was due to a failure on our part.

This customers data was lost, through no fault of our own. His Mac wasn’t working when it arrived with us, and we repaired it for a very reasonable price. For this reason we believe this is a very unfair review.

From the minute my iMac was collected to the moment it was delivered, I found my dealings with the company excellent.
Every phone call was answered promptly and all questions I asked were answered with expertise.
The repair carried out was also excellent and I have already recommended them to all my friends and family.

Great service and first class technical expertise

The back fuse light on my wifes mac had gone despite only being a couple of years old. In such situations apple just want you to buy a new mac and few repair shops have the expertise to replace the fuse. fixmybrokenmac were however able to do so and their service was excellent. The mac is back as good as new and I am sure I will be back when my mac needs work on it.

Fixed my "Beyond Economical Repair" Mac

Very easy and open communication, able to call Joe anytime.

Fixed my Mac where others said beyond economical repair. Reuse and Recycle and not land fill.

Courier Collection and even returned my fixed Mac with his own driver courier service.

Fantastic Service would highly recommend.

Great service at Fixmybrokenmac

I’ve always had great service from Fixmybrokenmac. A couple of weeks ago my wife’s iMac died. I suspected a hard drive failure. I completed the online form, and received a response the same afternoon, promising a further email the following day - Saturday- with collection details. The machine was collected on Monday afternoon, diagnosed Tuesday, fixed Wednesday, and returned on Thursday before lunch. It had been cleaned and serviced, fitted with an SSD, and loaded with the Mac OS. This 10 year old machine is better and far quicker than when I bought it. An hour reloading software and restoring backed up files and we’re done. I can not recommend this company highly enough.

This is a good company

This is a good company.

The work they did on my MacBook Pro 13" seems to be great. The computer is fully restored in function and memory. I didn't have to supply my backup hard drive. I believe they are bound by GDPR legislation with regards to information they encounter on your computer.

They were very easily contacted by phone (no long waits or automated nonsense) and polite and personable. The overall price was as I expected. I was pleased that they collect and drop off for clients too busy or remote to visit the shop.

The website has one snag that I noticed; it won't show that you've paid an invoice immediately. That can make some people a bit anxious that they got the details wrong when making the transaction. But if you call during working hours they will reassure you. Besides that, their online booking system is very usable and convenient.

I only had repairs recently, so cannot comment on how long they last. their standard guarantee is 3 months, I think. Though longer warranties are available at an additional price.

My experience of this company was very good overall.

For reference, I only give 5 stars for true 'perfect'. A near unattainable ideal.

Fabulous service. Great communication. My IMac had sat under my bed for 2 years because I had been told it wasn’t fixable. Well it was fixed and I am so pleased to be reunited with it.

We use Fixmybrokenmac for all of our repairs, and am always impressed with their open and frank approach to the work. The same-day turnaround is appreciated, as we need the machines to work with. We have also bought machines from them, and have recommended many other people to do so. Excellent people.

Running hot

Returned my MacBook Pro as it was within 90 days of the original repair and was running hot again. There was no specific fault found and the machine was running okay. I have found the staff to be very good communicators face to face. They explain the likely cause of a problem and suggested resolutions.

These guys are brilliant

These guys are brilliant! I spilt about half a pint of water on my computer and immediately panicked! I went online and booked my computer in to be repaired for the next day. I turned up with my computer and was reassured immediately that Fix my Broken Max knew what they were doing and if it could be fixed it would be. They were professional, communicative and knowledgeable throughout the process. I dropped my computer off at 9.30 and it was fully diagnosed, repaired and collected by midday the next day. I would recommend them to anyone.
