Flair Airlines is a complete scam

Flair Airlines is a complete scam. Their carry-on policy is pure extortion. Even though my backpack was more than half empty and almost fit the size checker, I was forced to pay $88 at the gate. What’s infuriating is that the same female gate agent does this to me every time, clearly targeting passengers to charge extra. This is predatory, dishonest, and intentional. Their “low fares” are a lie!! You always end up paying more. Worst airline experience ever. Never flying with them again!!!!

Flair Airlines Cash Grab

Flair Airlines is a textbook bait-and-switch.
We paid over $500 extra—in advance—for carry-on luggage and premium seats in row 1. Despite that, Flair forced my wife and me to pay an additional $115 EACH at the gate to check our carry-ons, claiming our “personal items” were slightly oversized.

Rules are fine—when they’re applied consistently. But multiple passengers boarded with personal items clearly larger than ours without being stopped. This wasn’t policy enforcement; it was a selective cash grab.

Flair’s business model appears to rely on surprise fees, arbitrary enforcement, and exploiting passengers once they’re trapped at the gate. Do yourself a favor: fly Air Canada or WestJet. It will almost certainly be cheaper in the end—and far less aggravating.

Worst Airline Experience

Worst Airline Experience – Extremely Disappointing

I have traveled with many airlines, but this was by far the worst experience I have ever had—especially with Flair Airlines.

I was traveling with my 10-month-old baby, which is already challenging, and the situation at the baggage counter made it even worse. My luggage weighed 23.1 kg, and despite being just 0.1 kg over, I was forced to pay extra. There was absolutely no flexibility or understanding.

The staff member was extremely rude and unprofessional. My baby was crying, and instead of showing any empathy, she continued to argue and pressure me. I did not even open the suitcase—I simply removed a few small plastic bags that I carry for diaper changes, and the weight came down to exactly 23 kg. This clearly shows how unnecessary the entire situation was.

The way I was treated felt like harassment rather than customer service. Traveling with a baby is already stressful, and this kind of behavior only makes it worse.

This experience was incredibly frustrating, and I am very disappointed. This will most likely be my last time traveling with Flair Airlines. I would not recommend this airline, especially to families traveling with infants.

Unfair Fees for a Bag That Was Within Size Limits

I’ve had bad airline experiences before, but Flair takes it to another level. My personal item was perfectly within their size limits — I even checked beforehand — and it fit easily under the seat. It wasn’t heavy, oversized, or stuffed. Still, the gate agent insisted it “might be too big” and tried to charge me an extra fee.

It was obvious my bag qualified as a free personal item, yet they acted like it didn’t just so they could squeeze more money out of me. The staff were rude, unhelpful, and refused to actually measure it properly. They just kept repeating the same lines over and over, as if they were trained to upsell fees no matter what.

I also saw other passengers getting hit with surprise charges, which made it clear this wasn’t an honest mistake — it felt like a deliberate money-grab. Between the unfair fees, the lack of professionalism, and the chaotic boarding process, the whole experience was incredibly frustrating.

Flair might advertise cheap fares, but once they start charging you for things that should be free — like a simple personal item — the “low cost” becomes anything but. I won’t be flying with them again.

This week was my first and last…

This week was my first and last flight with Flair.
They complained about my luggage being 400 grams heavier than it was supposed to be,we took an item that was for sure over 1lb,we put the suitcase back on the scale and it was heavier than before, so we took a few other items, till they were satisfied.
During a 5 hour flight they not even offer us a glass of water so they can make a couple of dollars on a bottle of water that they sell you.
Like I said: my first and my last time flying with them.

Always a good experience

I have flown with Flair about 8 times now and have had a great experience every time. When flying it can feel like there is not a lot of choice in airlines, or a focus on customer service - but Flair always does a great job! Their prices are super reasonable - they charge for extras (which I support) and they have always been on-time and efficient. I would highly recommend Flair.

I never had to pay for my personal bag…

I never had to pay for my personal bag before in any airline. They make you fit your bag pack through a small container, the container is smaller everytime. It does not matter if the bag can fit under the airplane seat or not. Poor customer service, I rather fly in a more expensive airline than having to deal with this poor experience.
No recommended to anyone

Avoid Flair Airlines at all cost

My recent experience with Flair Airlines was extremely disappointing, and I feel compelled to warn other travelers.

Flair advertises itself as a “low‑cost” airline, but the reality is that the low fare is just bait. The personal‑item sizing rules are so restrictive that they feel intentionally designed to force passengers into paying extra fees. It’s hard not to feel misled.

The service at the Toronto airport front desk was equally frustrating. Staff seemed more focused on squeezing money out of passengers than actually helping them. Watching employees take satisfaction in charging people for every tiny thing was honestly shocking.

To make things worse, I was traveling with my wife and we were assigned seats far apart during online check‑in (row 22 for me, row 9 for her). When I asked at the desk if we could sit together, I was told Flair “does not do that.” Yet once onboard, the seat next to me was empty the entire flight. That lack of flexibility and basic customer care says everything.

Overall, Flair’s approach feels profit‑driven at every step, with little regard for the passenger experience. I won’t be flying with them again, and I hope others think twice before falling for the “low‑cost” marketing.

Worst airline to travel with

I already paid for the checked baggage of a cabin size, checked means checked. There can be minor outs and ins. The lady with a terrible face started making faces and asked me to put the bag into their so called bad bad dirty structure to size the bag and also created problem with my slides if i wanted to put them into my jacket. You pay, you get harassed and there is no one to listen. Believe me at that moment i felt like the same experience should happened with them. These are the big evils and company has nothing to do, its their bad faced rude staff.

Let me just say this is the worst damn…

Let me just say this is the worst damn airline they charge for literally everything.you think that with whats happening in jamaica and people are boarding to travel back they would find humanity and discount the baggage fee. Even to check in at the airport is $25 and the online system gives issues. My grandma passed away and i ask if i could change flight without a fee they said no so i had to pay an addition 289.00 . They have no compassion.

Never reimbursed for meal and hotels on cancelled flight

Flight was cancelled we were told hotel and meals would be reimbursed. Flown out 24 hours later. Now 4 months later no reimbursement has been given. An amount they agreed to pay us was not nearly the cost of being trapped in an airport where food is expensive. This amount they promised has never been sent. A one night and 3 meal stay at an expensive location cost us $480. Might as well fly with a more expensive airline if they will at least follow through on reimbursements.

The worst airline I've ever used

Miserables, they measure each item, they charge for everything, even for carrying your jacket in your hands, even the water. If you can avoid traveling with them, do it. It seems like a good price, but it's the worst airline I've ever used, with the worst customer service!!

Disorganized airline, avoid. My flight was cancelled already.

I'm already giving this airline 1 star and I haven't even flown yet. All I've read were horrible reviews and yet silly me, still booked with them thinking it would be different. Already my flight has been cancelled and rescheduled to the next day which means I'm losing a day on my vacation because of this extremely disorganized company. Saving money is fine, but this is definitely not worth it and they have the reviews to show it. Now I have to call them and become a Karen unnecessarily to get my flight back. Please stop selling flights until you can learn how to run an Airline correctly. 1 start out of 500+ reviews is shameful, the authorities should shut this airline down.

This airline is a nightmare

This airline is a nightmare. All four of my Vietnamese names were perfectly correct on my booking — last name, first name, middle names — exactly the way they appear on my passport. Vietnamese names are written in that order. It’s simple, normal, and legal.

But these people somehow managed to erase my FIRST NAME completely and put both of my MIDDLE NAMES as my first name. That’s right — my real first name? Gone. Nonexistent. Vanished from their system. Somehow this is “how it has to be” according to them. And decided to charge me for 89CAD to change my own government name !

Vietnamese names are written “backwards” compared to Western style, and that’s NORMAL. Every immigration officer on earth understands this… except apparently these geniuses.

Never gonna fly with Flair ever again! I hope they invest in proper training for their staff, because some of them might even share my name. And honestly, maybe they should start calling all their colleagues by their middle names too—since they thought it was a great idea to put my middle name where my first name should be. What a bunch of clowns.

Confusing website and lots of tricks…

Confusing website and lots of tricks for the unwary. And, if you make a mistake, you're screwed. After about an hour of trying to book flights for three of us with different baggage requirements and many false starts, I mistakenly booked a return flight for the same day as departure. I realized my mistake within minutes and contacted them online after making the necessary change myself. The result? I am out $200 despite the fact their system let me book a return flight that was physically impossible to make as my original flight wouldn't have landed by then. When I contacted them about this, I got to hear a lot about policy. As a result, I won't be flying with them again. What a terrible way to run a business. Pennywise and pound stupid.

Nothing Flair can do could improve…

Nothing Flair can do could improve their services. They are beyond recovery. This is the WORST airline I have ever traveled. And I travel a lot. Their agents are just rude. Their seats are made to fit children 5 years old and under. All this "may be" tolerated if they are as cheap as they claim. But they have so many tricks and hidden charges, that in the end, you will end up paying far more than other airlines with much superior services.

My flight with Flair Airlines (F8 620 Calgary–Toronto) was a complete disaster. Rude gate staff, hidden fees at every turn, chaotic boarding — you get what you pay for: frustration, stress and nowhere to hide. Avoid this airline if you want respect, transparency and decent service

I had a very bad experience with Flair…

I had a very bad experience with Flair Airlines. I checked my bag properly, but the staff treated me unfairly and acted in a way that felt racist and disrespectful. Instead of helping or explaining things clearly, they were rude and dismissive. It was extremely upsetting to be treated this way as a paying passenger.

No one should have to face discrimination while traveling. I hope Flair Airlines takes this kind of behaviour seriously and provides better training to their staff to treat all passengers with respect and equality.
