Zero star if could
If could have zero, I would pick up zero to them at the Vancouver boarding gate to Calgary on Jan 2, 2026. I passed the same back pack as a personal item on West Jest and Air Canada. They charge me $99 as a carry on bag. I definitely could put it under the seat. Damn on them, I wouldn't book Flair Airline forever.
I am not sure who this airline is for
I am not sure who this airline is for - perhaps people with unlimited time and no need to get anywhere at any specific time and perhaps no solid plans and are open to travelling wherever.
Airplane was awaiting a maintenance part. Delay kept going in hour increments. A part replacement is something where you know lead time and how long it could take.
I think it's a "you get that you pay for" situation.
Staff of friendly and seems to have less information than is provided from the updates. Still, give them props. This has to be a hard airline to work for with the issues.
Overall this experiment is a fail. All airlines have issues, this airline seems to have more of them.
I got a flight from Toronto to Calgary…
I got a flight from Toronto to Calgary December 31 2025 at 9:30pm the Flight number F8 629 but when I got there they delay 40minutes without announcement or any update on the flight status website, after that, we got on the plane at around 10pm that time enough late to everybody take a break but the LADY STAFF (INDIAN) SIT BEHIND THE TOILET AT THE END OF THE PLANE IS SO ANNOYING EVEN SOME CUSTOMER TRY TO SAID PLEASE SPEAK LOWER VOICE! SHE KEEPS SPEAKING A LOT AND A LOT FOR AROUND 1 HOUR WITH NO STOP! That’s so unprofessional and rude to the customer! Please BE QUIET LET EVERYONE TAKE A BREAK! YOU ARE TALKING TOO MUCH AND ARE SO ANNOYING
Personal Item scam
My experience with Flair Airlines was extremely frustrating due to very poor communication.
At the check-in counter, I checked one 23 kg suitcase without any issues. At no point was I clearly informed that our personal items did not meet the size requirements. However, only at the boarding gate, we were told that our personal items were considered carry-on luggage.
As a result, I was forced to pay CAD 313 as 4 personal itens changed to carry on, which was completely unexpected and felt unfair, especially since this information was not communicated earlier at check-in. If this had been explained clearly at the counter, we could have adjusted or avoided the extra fees.
The lack of transparency and last-minute enforcement created unnecessary stress and significantly impacted our travel experience. I would not recommend Flair Airlines unless passengers are prepared for surprise charges and inconsistent communication.
For comparison, I flew back with WestJet and had an excellent experience. For essentially the same price that Flair charged me just in baggage fees, WestJet provided clear communication, fair policies, and a smooth boarding process with no surprises.
This contrast makes it clear that better options exist. I would strongly recommend that travelers carefully compare airlines, because what looks cheaper with Flair can quickly become far more expensive and stressful.
Underhanded Policies
The policies of this airline look to be specifically designed to find ways to take money from unsuspecting travels and I caution you to read ALL the fine print or other reviews prior to even considering booking with this operation.
Punitive reservation policies include: (international travel) cancellations within 24 hours of booking you lose the cost of your baggage and seat selections. This makes no sense - the seat you never used and the luggage they never had to handle entitle Flair Airlines to keep hundreds of your dollars because they were in a digital reservation for less than 24 hours. Not surprisingly, they hide this little tidbit in the Ancillaries section at the end of their Terms and Conditions; NOT in their Cancellation Policy section. I wonder why that would be?
And any credit you do receive if you cancel after 24 hours has the restriction of only being used for 1-way tickets, cannot be applied to a reservation that you're trying to book with another traveler (even if your credit is less than 1/2 of the combined cost of the new travel), and the fare you're offered when you book with your credit is higher than that offered on the company's reservation website. Zero customer consideration and less than zero fairness.
I have many hundreds of dollars in a credit with this company but am just going to let it expire and book with an airline that offers a fair deal because if their front end is this bad, I can only imagine what nasty surprises await those who go through travelling with them. However, if you do want to find out about the Flair Air travelling experience, do review the travel horrors detailed in other reviews.
A fun game before departure
All of the passengers played a really fun game 5 minutes before boarding - It's called "make your luggage into a new shape" to fit Flairs box - if you fail, you pay a penalty.
The gate attendant surprises passengers with the announcement, and then everyone furiously unpacks their luggage and moves contents around into different bags to fit the box, and then when you get on the plane, you put it all back in its original luggage!
The second part of the game is when you get on the plane, everyone negotiates new seats with strangers because nobody wants to pay extra to sit beside family when they bought their ticket.
Thank you Flair - today I learned how a 15 year old would design their boarding experience.
Flight to Puerto Vallarta Dec 28 7:55…
Flight to Puerto Vallarta Dec 28 7:55 am. Flight attendants at the gate are abusive and harassing. We are family of 5, at the gate B-39 we were commanded by a woman attendant to measure our bags, we have 5 personal and 2 carry on. Then we were able to fit the 5 bags as personal and will pay 2 hand carry. I was about to pay for 2 carry on when she stopped us again and asked to measure the personal bags again insisting we have to pay even all personal bags fit their measuring stand. The woman insisted that not all personal bags did not pass we then she shout that we are holding the line and she is going to close the gate on us. Then when I was about to pay 3 handcarry she said that my sons will have to measure again the personal bags.
I felt embarrassed and harassed, then I told them we measures our bags 3 times already what else do you want. And the manager was there now on the desk he was just there. I was ready to give my credit card because I am willing to pay whatever they charge because the woman attendant keeps saying she will close the gate. So I panicked feeling embarrassed and stressed I freaked out and got angry. Because we did everything but we felt they are conniving to charge more.
The manager accused me of being rude because of my complaints then decided my sons can board but not me and my husband. If you are in my situation how would you feel? We are looking forward for this vacation but attendants and even the manager cannot resolve simple issues like this. Where is your good customer service?I may have reacted poorly from the mistreatment of your attendants and your manager. I now understand why there are bad reviews about flair 1 star rating, my mistake was I did not believe those reviews I gave you a chance. Are you not concerned about how your employees are in dealing with your customers. You have to address your service from the check in that is so disorganized and your unprofessional attendants on the gates. People would like to have a good time that is why they book flights with your company.. We will definitely file a complaint about your attendant and manager who refuse to give their names. I hope you will look into this matter and make your service better.
Flight delayed without compensation
I had a flight with Flair Airlines from Toronto (YYZ) to Halifax (YHZ) scheduled for December 26, 2025 at 7:40 AM. I arrived at the airport early at 6:00 AM to be safe.
While already at the gate, I received an email stating that the flight was delayed to 9:15 AM due to a crew change — an issue that is entirely within the airline’s control. There was no advance notice before arriving at the airport.
I had an important meeting scheduled for 12:30 PM in Halifax, which I had planned carefully based on the original flight time. This delay directly affected my schedule and caused unnecessary stress.
When I contacted customer service to request compensation or assistance, I was told that because the delay was “under 3 hours,” Flair would do nothing. This response completely ignores the real impact on passengers and shows a lack of accountability.
A crew change is not a weather issue or an emergency — it is a planning failure. Expecting passengers to absorb the consequences while offering zero support is unacceptable.
This was one of my worst flight experiences. I would not recommend Flair Airlines to anyone who values reliability, communication, or basic customer service.
Uncomfortable and low dignity in every aspect
Uncomfortable in every aspect. The good: the landing was smooth.
The bad: Everything else.
Difficult to get a hold of them online or through their customer service, and for even many online processes they charge $25. If you need a name change, they also charge you for that. You can not reach their customer service, so you have to go to the front desk and pay the $79 for the name change on top of the $25 for actually bothering themselves with helping you.
The staff (particularly younger ones) are very rude and unfriendly.
Beware that you will be asked to squeeze your backpack into a small compartment and it is shorter than a normal backpack size; if your backpack does not fit in, they force you to pay for carry on. Also, I removed my jacket from my backpack and put it in my check-in. On the way back, they checked me in first, and then they asked me to squeeze my backpack in there; thankfully, I did not have my jacket with me.
disgusting & disgraceful that Flair…
disgusting & disgraceful that Flair nixed a young couple for having a dog and a baby attempting to fly. A new rule blamed on Transport Canada but they lied about that. Bumped the coupe forced a $1200 alt flight.
They loose me for sure now -
Unless your personal item is a manila…
Unless your personal item is a manila envelope you are going to be charged a surprise fee of $125. Never again.
1 star is far too many.
I only gave them 1 star because 0, or -1 million, or avoid this airlines like the worst plague of human history weren't choices.
This isn't from flying once. No I've been stupid enough to fly with them about half a dozen times. Only maybe 1 of those 6 times could be described as anything different than an horrible ordeal.
There was a time when flying was a luxury experience. That time was never with Flair airlines. Soon to be out of business likely.
Flee, you don’t get what you pay for!!
Terrible, terrible experience!
Flew from Abbotsford to Edmonton. Leaving Abbotsford, they had passengers loading outside in the pouring rain including four in wheelchairs! On my return flight from Edmonton they asked me to insert my carry-on into the slot. I fly with it all the time. Part of the wheels stuck out a tiny bit. They said it wouldn’t fit in the overhead bin although it fit just fine on my flight out. Forced me to check it at an additional cost of $67. My flight cost $23 one way but my luggage cost $116!! For the price of my luggage, I could have flown with a better airline. Then the flight was delayed an hour due to technical issues. Never again, they are the worst!!!
DO YOURSELF A FAVOR DO NOT BOOK WITH…
DO YOURSELF A FAVOR DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS AIRLINE EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO PAY AN EXTRA 200 DOLLARS FOR ANOTHER AIRLINE, IT IS WELL WORTH IT RATHER THAN DEALING WITH THIS COMPANY AND ITS STAFF. THE CEO REALLY HAS TO BE A LOWLIFE TO ACCEPT A POSITION WITH THIS COMPANY THAT HE WOULD WORK WITH THIS COMPANY
The way this airline charges its…
The way this airline charges its customer is unfair and very expensive.
Our handbag is small size but the rude lady on front deskbcharged us over $90.
The final cost of flying with flair is far more than you see in primary booking.
Flair Airlines - never again
Flair Airlines is extremely disappointing. My flight was delayed more than 10 hours, and we were only informed about 4 hours before departure, even though many passengers were already at the airport. The lack of communication and respect for passengers’ time is unacceptable.
You are charged extra for everything even a small personal item at the gate. Staff were rude and unhelpful, which made the experience even more stressful. There is no basic customer care, not even free water while waiting for hours.
What looks cheap at first ends up being expensive and frustrating due to hidden fees, poor service, and constant delays.
Never again. I do not recommend Flair Airlines.
Terrible customer service from check in…
Terrible customer service from check in staf
The garbage man
After visiting 25 countries and trying many different airlines, Flair airlines is the worst among the worst, the cheapest airline in Europe is A LOT better than this one. All the staff is so rude that it seems like it’s the standard for the company.
I asked the staff if they had a trash can, and he asked me if he looks like the garbage man.
Next time I might just throw the garbage on the floor so they can collect it.
0/10 Never again!
No Flare, No Care: Our experience with Flair airlines
Flair - no care - Terrible experience. Our two daughters were returning home for the holidays and were denied boarding. One had her ID, the other did not because it had been stolen. Even with digital copies of all IDs, no assistance or guidance was offered—they were completely stranded at the airport. Zero customer service. Travelers should be aware that this airline demonstrates a low-grade lack of care and professionalism.
Absolutely No Flair
Airline / Flight: Flair Airlines F8 810
Route: Vancouver (YVR) Calgary (YYC)
Date of Flight: 17 Nov 2025
1) Damage to checked luggage
Upon arrival in Calgary, I discovered that my checked luggage -- a hard-shell suitcase -- had sustained a major dent approximately the size of a golf ball on the exterior shell. This damage was clearly not pre-existing and has compromised the luggage.
2) Misrepresentation about "10kg checked luggage" vs "carry-on luggage"
I also wish to dispute and seek clarification on the baggage charges. I had paid for what was presented as "10kg checked luggage", but at the counter I was told that this actually meant carry-on luggage, and I was required to pay again for an additional 23kg checked luggage in order to check my bag. This was confusing and felt misleading, as the wording at the time of purchase did not clearly indicate that the 10kg option was not a checked bag.
3) Poor attitude and unprofessional conduct at YVR check-in counter
Poor service at the Flair check-in counter at Vancouver (YVR). The counter staff were unhelpful and rude. In particular, a male staff member (Sikh, wearing a turban) was chatting with a female colleague throughout the time I was standing at the counter, rather than attending to me properly. Both staff members were dismissive, did not explain my options clearly, and handled my queries with poor attitude.
