What a scam! First of all ive signed up to see my G Uncles war records. The only info I can see is basic stuff which I already have. But If I sign up with another company called Fold 3 and pay $79.95 a year I can get more info! What a rip off, Ive already signed up! Blatant rip off, shouldnt be allowed!

I have taken out a paid account with this company once a few years ago, and had a real job cancelling as there is NO cancellation means and had to write several emails, which were eventually answered and I got my cancellation.
A week ago I decided to use the service again and went for the 7 days free trial, but could not get what I wanted and AGAIN tried to cancel. Still no means of cancelling. I had to AGAIN send an email and cancel, and was successful. This company is shady to deal with that's for sure.
I wont be using them again.

I tried their site through Ancestry and ended up with a $79.95 charge for a yearly subscription that I don't want! I've tried reaching out through email and phone and have yet to receive a response and a refund! They have a customer service number that they don't answer and the email is auto response. Horrible company. Horrible customer service and rip off artists!

Signed up for one month but very limited information, no access to actual documents during my searches. I had found more information from other sites and sources, in my searches there appear to be large gaps in the records in Fold3, not worth the money.
Fold3 replied asking me to give my email address so that they could identify me, seriously they wanted me to post my email address on here, a public site. I purchased full membership in the UK but on a monthly subscription which I have now cancelled.
I sent my details to Fold3 they didn’t respond, they did send an automatic reply saying they would reply within 1 or 2 days a week has passed and counting
Still silence from Fold3 it seems to imply they have no answer to my complaint, unfortunately they are not the only company who ask complainants on Trustpilot to contact them directly to give the impression that they are dealing with customer complaints in private but in reality are just attempting to brush complaints under the carpets

Took £37.26 out of my account using my Ancestry subscription details without authorisation. Had to report it as fraud, as they wouldn't reply to my messages or emails. They've done this to me in the past too.

Signed up for basic membership. did a search. tried to open a page, cant, its premium. All the responses to the search are premium. Now how would one determine they wanted to pay for fold3 without seeing what actual information they provide in their responses. So, I will just cancel my membership. I look and look and can't find a way to cancel. In fact their are no instructions in the help documentation as to how to cancel a membership. Sent an email to fold3 support. Hope that works. Fold3 business practices are suspect. Oh, try to find out where their company is, check 'About Us', there is a lot of text but nothing about them. Very shady outfit.

Clicked through from Ancestry to view family military records. Site is not clear as to what membership status is allowed to access Fold3 and ended up creating direct account. Turns out my ancestry membership wasn’t good enough. I no longer have any paid access on Ancestry, but my wife has All Access which includes Fold3. Problem now is that clicking through to Fold3 from her Ancestry account still opens my (useless) Fold3 account. I can’t effectively sign out from Fold3, nor can I delete my Fold3 account. Yet another case of customer service only existing while they think they they can get money from you.

I would actually like to give a negative rating but that’s impossible. A don’t remember signing up for the free 7 day trial and I don’t agree with the 79.95 charge. I don’t want to look up anyone who’s died in a war. Please return my MONEY you cheats.
Like the others, took out 7 day free trial and cancelled the auto renewal immediately after taking it out, it said,as expected, that I could still use the site for the 7 days. Then I got an email today to say thanks for renewing. I have sent an email and will open a case with the bank if no reply but please be careful and take screenshots of your cancellation confirmation just in case.
1 star is too much for these people. Like many others signed up for a "free trial" - looked at one record and realised it wasn't what I was looking for, so imediately the same day cancelled the trial and made sure there was no auto renewal settings. BUT I wasn't able to remove my card records from my account.
Low and behold I get billed for over £40 the day after the trial ended. I rang the company no less than 11 times without being able to get through. I also emailed and was finally responded to via email, but only when I pointed out it was theft.
I have since then recived my phone bill with over £21 with of call charges racked up trying to get them to rectify THEIR mistake.
Absolutely disgusting scammy company. I have also complained to Ancestry who recommend you sign up with Fold3. They're are both owned by the same people but ancestry won't take any responsibility for the bad practices of a company they point you to.
This site is absolutely appalling. I have big problems in accessing information about a British cousin whose son was wounded during the US Civil War, but these awful people never reply to any queries. The once good name of Ancestry.com has been dragged into the mud by their association with FOLD3!
I can see many giving low rating for this site. I think the site itself is great with good quality material, but the search facility is not one of the best. Needs a bit of a revamp
Same as many other reviews. Cancelled the day before the end of the free trial and just been charged a full premium subscription. Have emailed and will hopefully get full refund.
Shame on Ancestry for endorsing this.
Zero star if I could ...
I cancelled my free trial and was still billed for a full year. I've emailed and asked for a refund but there has been zero communication.
It is not possible to give this a zero. The new design is completely useless. I can only get one page of a Civil War Service record.
Took out a trial with them. Had a look around the website and found it was 95% American records, so no use to me. Turned off auto renew, but could find no option to delete my account. I then forgot about the account. The trial period has ended and I am absolutely fuming that I have now been charged for an annual account!! Logged back onto the account and found that the auto renew had also been turned back on. I have immediately sent them an email demanding a full refund and deletion of my account.
I agree with all the negative comments already written. Fold3 are quick to take your money but have no concern for their "customers". They never reply to your emails trying to cancel your account. So far they have taken me for over $300 NZD.
The majority of military info Fold3 contains is related to America ( they are based in Utah) but they do not make this clear,
I would not recommend Fold3 to any one.

Make this ZERO stars- THIS IS A SCAM!!!!! DO NOT ENTER INFORMATION. THANK GOODNESS MY CREDIT CARD WILL LISTEN TO DISPUTES. FOLD3 DOES NOT REPLY!!! REPEAT THIS IS A SCAM! I cancelled and they charged anyway!

I can only echo the warning of so many others here, these dreadful scammers completely ignore your account setting NOT to auto renew and roll your free trial over into a fully charged membership. I am now fighting to get a refund, but there is no online cancelation option and no UK phone number, so contacting these fraudsters and getting your money back is made as difficult as possible. Ancestry should be truly ashamed of themselves for their part in this rip-off.
Update: eventually got a refund after 10 days, but the fact remains that they urgently need to change their 'faulty' system that switches auto renew back on after you've clearly turned it off.
The content, meanwhile, is OK, but there's not much UK stuff there that isn't already available on Ancestry.

Honestly this is just the worst. I took out a free trial and made sure to cancel it, but lo and behold I was charged for a sub.
I did get a refund by emailing them but I would recommend avoiding a free trial on this site as they are not honest with their customers.
